We had spent a lot on ours as well. It had belonged to an old man and needed doing up. Our new house is a new build. I’m currently sat in the living room watching a light aircraft from the airfield at the back. It’s doing some very impressive acrobatics.
Life is too short to spend it trapped in a miserable situation.
Best of luck in your new home !

I totally concour. We moved a year ago and for the first time we sat in our garden all summer without listening to the neighbours music, all her phone calls on speakerphone or then jabbering at full blast until midnight. It was bliss to just have normal background noise.
For all the money it costs you to move, do it!

Wow, some of these stories bring back memories, many years ago my boyfriend and I rented one of a block of four flats, we were on the ground floor and the much older couple above us were a nightmare, particularly the chap.
Loud TV, constantly parking in front of the garage allocated to our flat so we couldn't use it, letting his grandchildren run around the whole block banging on our door and windows etc etc
One time he'd been blasting his TV from early hours of the morning and I'd had enough, I knew one flat was empty and the person in the other was away so I turned my TV as loud as it would go and went out for three hours, all was quiet when I got back!
He also took to throwing his food waste out of the window onto the little patch of grass outside our bedroom, egg shells, rotten apples, big chunks of mouldy bread etc, I complained to the landlord and he apparently told them it accidentally fell out the window.... On multiple occasions??
I started collecting it up and posted it through his letterbox He soon stopped!
My final bit of fun was the day he knocked on our door and started ranting that the drain in the communal garden was flooding with raw sewage and it was probably our fault so we had to sort it out otherwise there would be trouble .... I took great pleasure in informing him that the only person in the shit (literally!) was him because we had actually moved out a couple of days previous (it was a furnished flat so we had been able to move our clothes and a few other things without anyone actually noticing) and we were only there that day to take final meter readings and were returning the keys to the landlord as soon as we left, the chaps face was an absolute picture and almost made up for the five years of crap we'd put up with!

I am so happy for you love! You’ve put up with this for so long. Enjoy the silence.

Just to chime in my husband and I have moved from a semi detached house that we had a lot of problems with the neighbour. Noise, swearing at us, telling his neighbours we were harassing him etc. I can't believe how at peace I feel.

Like the previous poster mentioned - I wish I could get him back for what he did to us but for now I will enjoy how free and light I feel. I want to echo all the other posters who said - move if you can, even if its a slight downgrade - it will be worth it. Suffer whats going on and don't lodge complaints etc if you have to sell as you need to disclose it. We never complained to anyone and just put our heads down and focussed on moving.

Self elected King of the street has been going round opening peoples wheelie bins up this morning. No logical reasoning. Just a nosey old twat who needs to know absolutely everything.

He was also looking in our car windows this morning. By the time my partner was dressed and got downstairs, neighbour had vanished presumably to the corner shop, but I will definitely be keeping my eyes on him, and our belongings.

Are you my neighbour
We have a bin obsessive too - he stands and waits for the binmen, then stands hands on hips watching them empty his bin, physically goes to the van to collect his back, checks it and sometimes comments regarding it not being clean enough or whatever. He then goes round the street throwing rubbish that has been left behind, back into the owners’ gardens.

I know this sounds odd, but I'm convinced my neighbour is a perve.

I've posted on here agggges ago.... but basically, we're lucky to live in decently sized large 3 bedroomed homes. My next door neighbours are an older couple (later 60s - both retired) and it's just the two of them who live in their home.

BUTTTT... what gets me is the man, he's so weird, like you'll see him randomly looking over the fence and will look away when you see him, he doesn't talk to us and is just strange. The part that gets me is, he sits in his garage day and night until early hours. With his computer in there. I just don't understand why he doesn't have it in the house? He can be in there until 3am and back out there and 9am. Even on Christmas day he's out there.

We were chatting to his wife one day and she mentioned he's into gaming, so I asked what sort of gaming and she didn't know, she said he doesn't talk about it.

It just seems so odd to me? Why would he sit in a freezing garage? What's he actually up to?

Maybe he just can’t stand being with his wife we have an old couple, Probably 70s next to us and they argue like cat and dog any time they’re within feet of each other. Unfortunately for us they each like to be in their garden alllll the time, banging and slamming anything in sight, muttering away. which is right next to our conservatory and garden. So when one comes out & the other is there it’s straight into a screaming, swearing full blown argument. They can’t even say one word to each other it gets aggressive. Top of their lungs screaming match. I’ve thought about calling the police it’s that bad. Normally ends with the husband saying something like “F you I’m ducking off into the garage!” And she continues to scream obscene things at him even though he’s gone and he then proceeds to rev his motorbikes individually. Must be like cabin fever them both cooped together all the time I guess. Toxic for sure. But I’m surprised they don’t care about anyone hearing them as we are meant to live in a fairly “nice area” (it’s not ) So could be a similar reason… or he’s a perv

Yeah I remember when you first posted about this and I also thought about porn. Why is his wife not bothered though? What a strange couple

We previously had the neighbour from hell.
I knew it had affected me mentally (ashamed to say I contemplated suicide) but it wasn’t until we sold up and moved that I realised a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Within a week of us moving my friends and family told me that they had finally got “me” back again. Never underestimate the toll bad neighbours take on you.

We had 5 wonderful years in our new home, fantastic neighbours - salt of the earth, would do anything for you. Then they had to move to a bungalow for health reasons. They sold to the most narcissistic woman you could ever meet.
We got on well with her for the first month until she found out we weren’t prepared to jump when she demanded it.
So we are now living next door to another neighbour from hell.
And I know you must all be thinking that we are the problem (I’d probably assume the same tbh) but within weeks she also fell out with the neighbour joining her. Our next door-but-one neighbour put her house on the market within 2 months of Hell neighbour moving in. She did well by getting out whilst she still could before things escalated.
This time though I’m older and stronger and wiser and I will not be driven out by a narcissistic bully. She will get her comeuppance eventually. Thankfully we are detached from her so we can close our back gate and ignore her most of the time.

I can relate, my old neighbour was the poster child for inconsiderate heathens everywhere. It's difficult if you love your place but hate the people around you. I live in a flat so I'm surrounded by people, it's hard to pick your battles.

Haven't been living here long.

My only encounter with my neighbour was him shouting 'what colour is it?'
When I was putting the bin out in the dark
It was so dark he actually made me jump as he appeared behind the hedge

Then he said I'm your neighbour btw

I would love this. Tbh if it wasnt for working full time this would be me. My garden gets all the shit blown into it from all the trampy neighbours who cannot possibly close their bin lids. I would love to just round it all up and dump it in the suspected offenders garden. By suspected I am 99% sure because its always, toy wrappers, crap kid snack wrappers, and pregnancy test wrappers... far be it for me to throw around a stereotype but the breeder across the road never has her bin lid down and he kids eat absolute crap...

Trying to WFH and the dog across the road has done nothing but bark constantly since 8.30am!!!

No one at home, yet again.

At my wits end with it now. Every single day, they just constantly bark. She’s been spoken to multiple times now, but she just doesn’t seem to care.

I am fucking sick of it. I can’t relax in my own home. I’m constantly waiting for them to start barking. If someone opens their front door, they start barking. If someone puts something in the bin, they start barking. Nothing at all happens, they start barking.

I took my dog for a walk today and passed a house whereby a dog was barking relentlessly. Just for those few minutes I felt irritated.
Have you been explored reporting options @Tanne1999 ?

I live in a block of flats, with a young family living above me, they have a little boy about 2 or 3
One of them, not sure who it is, likes to jump about a lot! I assume it's the little boy, but who knows it was so bad on Saturday night, I made a note of it, that it felt as though my whole flat shook! My furniture does shake when they are jumping!I
Not for one minute do I think there shouldn't be noise from the other flats etc, and living in a flat you have to expect noise etc, but at times it's just ridiculous!
I've just phoned my local Council, yet again!
Spoke to my Housing Officer, explaining the situation etc, and that I do expect noise etc, but its getting beyond a joke at times! He said he'll look into again, as there does have to be some consideration etc for other people in the flats!
I know what will happen, all will be fine for a while, then it'll get just as bad again!
Don't think I'm bring all that unreasonable, just want the jumping to calm down!

As much as annoying noise is so bloody stressful, it's the complete lack of consideration that makes my blood boil. Why do people care so little nowadays?! It's selfish ignorance and I want to give all of the offenders a good head wobble.

I still think all noisy people should only get to live amongst the noisy and all the quiet people can have our peaceful home lives back.
