Okay but it was obviously built for a reason, based on research and economic demand, for leisure and business people in the area. The clue is in the name, holiday inn. Why is it now a storage facility for migrants, bringing a loss of business and spending money to an already deprived town?
I’d say the same about a bunch of Brits being dumped in a hotel in Somalia by the way, it’s nothing to do with demonising these people it’s just facts.
And they’re not all asylum seekers in desperate need I’m not even going there ☠
It's not facts though, is it? Unless you have access to the Holiday Inn bookings system for the past few years then I don't think you can state the above as fact either. It's quite likely that it was a good option for Holiday Inn as they were running at a loss and it filled spaces. It's not the point anyway, there's absolutely no excusing what has happened today and I don't know why you even felt the need to raise that 'point'.

But it's all LOLS though, eh. Cute Nigey Wigey and his endearing 'sly comments'.

I would say he should hang his head in shame but he clearly has none. Much like his 'not at all associated' Tommy Robinson.

Why is it ok for the media to hold the Labour government to account (fine when it’s justified), but not for them to look into Nigel’s dodgy past? No one should be exempt from scrutiny and if he wants to be PM him and his intellectually challenged supporters needs to accept this is going to happen from now on. If he has nothing to hide then he has nothing to worry about does he?
Is there really any need for you to be so bloody rude and sanctimonious?

This country has always been full of people who aren't British. Look at the many Irish who came over here in the 18th century, building much of the infrastructure of this country such as canals and railways. When Portugese Jews came over here, they introduced us to that most "English" of food, fish and chips.

This country has always relied on immigration, and pretty much all of its traditions and culture come from other countries. I guess going out with the aim of getting completely paralytic is quite an English "value" though, since we excel at it far more than the rest of the world.
Don't forget that traditional staple of British culture ....the Indian curry.

The problem is that a lot of the media will only report the most egregious cases they can find of people not being deported, while at the same time ignoring any actual increase in deportations or decrease in the use of hotels. And when those things do get reported once in a blue moon the Reform supporters just say it's lies or that it's not enough.
Yep, and it's like the news reporting on the asylum seekers that are here being moved from hotels to private rented accommodation. They're up in arms, saying they're getting houses over British people etc., but ignoring that it's actually a lot cheaper to house them in private rented accommodation rather than the hotels.

Something I've noticed about Reform voters is their views don't actually hold up. They want the boat stopped, but they can't say how. The most common solution I've come across is them saying to turn them away on the beaches. Okay, cool, so you want every beach along our south coast (from Cornwall up to about Norfolk) into some sort of military operation? So then they say oh, no, of course not, so make France deal with them. And then you ask how they'll compel France to deal with them, and they just say to tell France that we won't deal with them anymore, which is not a deterrent for the French government at all.

It's like they get so close to seeing this is not the simple issue they seem to think it is, but then just get sucked back into "stop the boats!"

I think this may be the first recorded incident of Farage telling the truth and admitting that he has no bloody clue about anything.

If it hadn't been for that sodding bromance he probably would have made second :) I don't think we should talk too much about I'm a Celeb on here as some didn't watch it so it's kind of off topic, but get rid of Tony and Sam who were front runners for various reasons and put him with say Marvin and someone else, reckon he would have made it
He was 2nd in the bookies until today. I'm still glad he got further than the chosen one Josie. Imagine realising you're less popular than Nigel lol

Seriously, how are we 'chocka'? There are loads of jobs available, for a start. The Uk's problems aren't being cased by immigrants (who are generally younger and net contributors to the economy - anyone interested in facts can read it here: https://assets.publishing.service.g...he_Fiscal_Impact_of_Immigration_on_the_UK.pdf - they're being caused because the country is poorly managed and money is being wasted hand over fist so services are crumbling. We've all been told to blame it on brown people, but if you actually think about it, it isn't true. Good ole Nige is a self interested conman.
I don’t think anyone anti mass immigration is anti brown people, it was coming from the EU as well. It’s the same line of thought as squawking racist whenever anyone makes a point about it

We have way too much immigration for a small island. Cut it in half and watch things improve- it would free up housing for a start. Baby steps :) Of course immigration's not the only issue and austerity HAS had an impact, but it does contribute
It's not about being callous towards migrants in need, but we get it ALL and we can't cope. There needs to be more of a balance
We aren't a 'small island' though

Hello, I like you too!

And I'm WAY past 30 - but appreciate the compliment!!

I live in North Yorkshire in a council estate in a market town, having said that there are not too many non-whites up here. Prior to this I lived in Oxford which has a VERY diverse demographic.
It's interesting isn't it. I lived in London and then Oxford, as you say very diverse and loads of people who were not only not white but were 1st generation immigrants. You almost never heard open racism and it was very much 'frowned' upon to express those views.

Now I live in the rural SW - when we moved here the lack of diversity was really jarring. There were no non-white children in the first school my daughter attended. Not a single one. At her secondary school there are a fair few (there's 1250 kids there so you'd hope so!). I could name all of the non-white children at my other kids primary and they are very much English, born here, parents born here etc etc. There are a lot of children from Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine at these schools but no one is bothered by them as far as I can tell.

There's a lot more open racism here, not directly towards people afaik (though I'm white, so it's not something I would ever experience personally), but just generally in everyday conversation. It still takes me aback whenever I hear it, and I do comment on it because I'm that type of person. No one is ever nasty to me about it but I wonder how they've developed these negative feelings about people when they've literally met maybe 10 people from other races their whole lives. It's nuts. These people would be horrified if you called them racist though - even though they clearly are. Racism isn't just violence and angry rhetoric.

I've been on the election forum this evening after a long day out. I'm not sure why I bother.

I'm polite (ish) yet the flying monkeys coming for you.

Always said, I'm happy to eat crow if I'm proven wrong, but because I went with my gut this time I am a bad Jew.

I'm exhausted.
As was pointed out on that thread, Farage isn't exactly a stranger to anti-semitism.
