I don't feel comfortable with people looking at her Facebook. Pretty invasive. I don't even think the conclusions are valid. She may have been posting before 2021/after December but those posts aren't public.

I hate to say this but I suspect the boyfriend did this. I don't think she ever went on that walk. Nobody has seen her have they? Both witnesses (male and female) said they didn't spot her. I don't think she ever left that house at all. The boyfriend has set this up.

I've seen enough partner interviews and studied body language long enough to know he is lying.
Several people saw her on the walk.....

I think she's in the water and will be found in time. It is a bizarre case though.

They haven't only just started searching the river. They did that from the start.

Her poor fella... he has been crucified on Twitter since that interview he give this morning - some of the comments I've seen 😱

Think the police have given that press conference & the hypothesis to stop all the accusations against him.

It's so sad the whole thing poor little girls losing their mum 💔

Now knowing the Police feel Nicola drowned, they would have shared that information with her family and partner well before they went to air with that news. So it’s really no wonder he seemed dazed, bewildered and perhaps a bit out of it in his interview. It must be hell on Earth for them all at the moment.

It’s so sad. This is local to me, the village is a lovely place - it’s been in the news frequently over the years as somewhere that floods. The road is a route we take off the main A road to get to Blackpool and would be busy with commuters that time on a Friday Am. I just can’t possibly imagine anything other than a freak accident or her going off on her own free will. Any other alternative is unbearable. I guess we are all too well aware bad things happen, but if she has been taken - are we safe anywhere as women alone in public? X

I’ve just watched it and you can hear the shaking in his voice - the laugh nearly turns into a sob. In my opinion, of course. I think he just seems bewildered and is trying to keep a grip.

A 10 minute time frame. So fucking upsetting how life can literally change in a blink of an eye

I watched Nicola’s sister last night on the news straight away I couldn’t warm to her, I can’t pin point what it is but there’s something about her.
I’m sure she has other worries right now than the fact you don’t seem to warm to a woman whose sister is missing but thanks for this useless bit of information.

All the stuff about “I just had a funny feeling it was the husband xxx Sumfink not right put him imo xxx Just speculating no harm done xxx” despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary is was absolutely terrifies me about our justice system.

I am petrified of the notion of me being accused of a crime I didn’t commit and these types of people being on the jury.

I don’t think anyone can say how they’d act in his situation. He probably knows he’s under scrutiny and let’s face it, the partner/husband is always going to be an easy target just because that’s how it is unfortunately.

Most of the time thankfully, it isn’t the case. I’m sure he is needed much more at home with his daughters rather than on television doing an appeal, when he has nothing more to offer than family members who are able to do this for him.

I have been through horrific loss that involved dealing with the police and identifying my deceased son at a mortuary. Like I said earlier, you never know how your brain is going to kick into resilience when dealing with such things. Even in the mortuary waiting to go in I found myself behaving really oddly. It was surreal and I am sure that's similar to how he's feeling right now.
I’m so sorry for your loss, I hope you’re okay, sending hugs 💕 I know a little of where you’re coming from, my brother died many years ago when we were just children. The morning he died my parents had to go out to do several things in relation to his death and asked me whether I would like to go with them, or what I‘d like to do and I said meet up with my friends as we’d planned to go shopping. I got on the bus and saw quite a few people who asked me how my family were doing as you do and I remember saying my brother died as if it was no big deal. I did a bit of shopping with my friends and then as we went into another shop I started screaming uncontrollably my brother’s dead and I had to be calmed down by the poor shop assistant and was picked up and taken home. I still look back at times and think what must people have thought of me when I decided to go shopping and just say calmly to others my brother had died that morning. Although I knew he’d died because I’d been told, I didn’t want to take it in because I couldn’t cope/accept it.
I can honestly say it was the most painful experience ever because he really was my absolute world as a child. So I couldn’t judge someone in that situation purely on their reactions because I know from firsthand experience how differently we all react, to even how we think we would react.

I've lost the comment now who said that's it's weird the partner straight away called the police.
I don't think it is at all. If my husband got a call that someone had found my dog loose, the harness and lead off him,and my phone and no sign of me he would know something was wrong straight away.

Even though it’s a shame for her family that this update doesn’t bring news of any kind, it was definitely needed to stamp out a lot of silly theories and rumours.

Hold on. You're not comfortable at looking her public Facebook profile, yet you're quite comfortable being on a nine page thread where people are cooking up allsorts of theories and whatnot about her?
I do see a difference between discussing the fact that she is missing and rifling through her family holiday photos, yes. And the theories cooked up on this thread do make me uncomfortable too. That was my first post here.

Also, it's pretty easy to accidentally post things publicly on Facebook. Doesn't mean she wanted the world judging her family if something happened to her.

From the Royal Yachting Association about cold water shock:

...Cold water shock can be lethal in minutes as it can cause a number of instant, powerful, involuntary respiratory reflexes, such as sudden increase in heart and blood pressure that may result in cardiac arrest, even for people in good health. Your ability to ‘swim like a fish’ will have no impact on your body’s involuntary response.

At a water temperature of below 15°C, and if you are not wearing a life jacket, especially an automatic one, cold water shock will:

  • cause you to inhale as you go under the water, due to an involuntary gasping reflex, and drown without coming back to the surface
  • drastically reduce your ability to hold your breath underwater, typically from a minute or so to less than 10 seconds
  • induce vertigo as your ears are exposed to cold water, resulting in failure to differentiate between up and down.

In short, any healthy person, even a good swimmer, can be dead in a very very short amount of time if they fall into cold water.

I have watched the interview with her partner, I feel that his laugh is a nervous/bewildered laugh. He's hardly saying "haha this is all so funny, my partner's missing and it's hilarious hahahah" is he? He has 2 young children at home, he's probably trying to keep upbeat for them. We don't know what he has told them. People say I couldn't smile if my partner was missing like this, you don't know what you would do. You might have to keep up a normal appearance for your children, mum's gone away, she will be back soon, playing, smiling laughing with them. I'm not saying he's not involved or he is involved because, at this point, there are a number of scenarios, but I don't think a nervous laugh is enough to say he is dodgy.
No I agree, laughter in inappropriate situations is very common tbf! My best friend went missing for a few days and was later found dead, but I remember that we were in shock for a very long time afterwards, for the first few weeks, me and my close friend group were laughing at times and even making jokes about it because it just didn’t seem real at all. It was all a blur for a long time and the grief and sadness didn’t hit me till about a year later when I’d fully accepted he was dead and never coming back.
Until you experience a situation like this yourself, you don’t know how you’re going to react, trauma and shock do some indescribably weird things to your thought processes and can make you behave bizarrely.

Hey, usually a lurker on other threads, but thought I’d add my 2pence as I have been following this too on the news and really hope for a positive outcome. But it just reminds me a little bit of the American college students and the police said they had no leads but all along they were tracking the guy and knew exactly who they were after. I sometime think the police tell us what they want us to hear so not to ruin their actual investigation. 🤷‍♀️ Anyways just my thought!

Why the long delay with someone searching the river? Six days to get someone there? Odd.
