There are some signs that mental health professionals use to assess the likelihood of somebody acting on suicidal thoughts.
Only if they’re aware, though. Not specifically for Nicola’s situation as I’m not comfortable speculating about her MH situation, but in general if someone is functioning on the surface and there are no obvious outward signs, then the person reaches breaking point / crisis, suicide comes as a shock to their loved ones who had no idea what was going on and healthcare professionals weren't ever involved because there were no outward signs of an issue.

(not disagreeing with you BTW, but realised it might sound like that! Am totally agreeing, just mean professionals can only judge if they know)

Also, (not directed at anyone specific here) please don’t use the phrase ‘commit a suicide’ this comes from way back when it was considered a crime and should not longer be used. ‘Died by suicide’ or ‘took their own life’ etc is more appropriate.
That's fair, but there will always be cases where it makes no sense to other people why they have chosen to end their life. Some have been known to have a clarity just before they carry it out, because they have made the decision and are at peace with it. I am not saying this is what happened here, but I don't think it helps anyone to speculate over what they would or wouldn't do based on their recent actions.
Is that PHILIP AND HOLLY sitting on the bleeping bench? Please tell me Im wrong
that's not real.

Genuine question, have her friends, family or the police said she was not thinking straight at the time, had MH issues, or even under any stress?
We as the general public need to realise that most of the information released to us is only the tip of the iceberg.
I am certain all avenues analysing her MH, home life, finances, relationship dynamics have been explored with a fine tooth comb by specialist trained officers.

I think it is a simple as this, the dog was either getting a drink from the rivers edge or was sniffing about there and couldn't get back up the bank, Nicola put her phone down to go to help Willow, because Willows harness was off so she had nothing to grab to pull her up she has had to of gone down to help her and had to either try to lift her mid waist or pushed her up from the rear end and I think she's fell into the river unfortunately, its happened to me many a time with my English Bull Terrier, I fell into water once only luckily, and it was a reservoir not a river, but the amount of times my dog couldn't get up the embankment which to look at wasn't that steep. I also used to take my dogs harness off in case she wanted to go into the water so it wouldn't get wet or weigh her down, plus she wasn't keen on her harness and collar as she never wears anything at home, oh and when I fell into the water she wasn't even bothered she just carried on sniffing about 🤣, jmho💙.

Was the phone found on the bench? I thought the police established it was on the ground and someone placed it on the bench. The harness was also on the grass no? But the dog may have moved that.

It is! I did wonder when I saw the image earlier when people were discussing ghoulish folks sitting there on the bench. But then I zoomed in after thinking that they weren’t exactly appropriately dressed for “ walking up north” an initially assumed newsreaders / reporters.
but it’s them!
Guys please tell me you’re joking, it’s a photoshopped image 😅😅😅 and in poor taste at that. Hopefully her family don’t see it.

The reason I asked is some are assuming she took her life and I wondered on what basis. Suggesting she took her life could be incredibly hurtful, especially to her children.
Personally I don‘t see it as suicide based on what we know and that’s what I’ve been going on facts.

Edit. I’m just not comfortable with assuming this lady has MH problems and if they really thought that I doubt they’d be predominantly focusing on the river.

Jeez people, the Phil and Holly on the bench thing is a joke!!

I now feel compelled to add that it’s not the best joke… But nobody took that seriously did they?!

The police conference said the phone was on the bench at 9.20 and the witness found the phone at 9.33ish. It was the harness that was found on the ground, somewhere between the bench and the river.

She would have been described as being vulnerable rather than a missing person I'd of thought if she did have a history of MH problems.

I wouldn't have thought it was a simple as the police saying "crack on" to the diving expert. Can imagine, as with all things, there was red-tape to go through.

I hope to God he hasn't just been rooster waving and actually is as good as he professes. The problem is, if he doesn't find a body - what does that mean? Either he is tit or she never entered the water?

With regards to her taking her own life, i just can't imagine it unless something tipped her over the edge in that moment. They have already confirmed though that it was just a regular teams meeting and nothing out of the ordinary.

The poor family. I just can't stop thinking about this case.

No, but it’s not always the case that friends/family are aware of any stresses or mental health issues. Mental health creeps up on you I have been a victim of it myself and I used to conceal it very well.

Hmmmm interesting. Maybe she went to take the harness off the dog so it could go in the river and slipped. Or she had the harness in her hand when she slipped and dropped it. There's a million variables isn't there and even if she is found to have gone in the water we'll never know how it happened. I hope there's closure soon for the sake of her family and children. It must agonising day after day with no answers.

It’s a turn of phrase, nothing more.
