And truthfully I'm sure alot of people watch her vlogs for the picturesque scenery of Positano not because they particularly like her. Not sure sour face and the long suffering Carlos will have the same pulling power in Tuscany.
I am one of those people who really only watch Positano Diaries for the scenery. I like their filming style and I think they show off the area really well. The drone footage certainly adds a lot, and I enjoy the music they use.

As you say though, will they have the same pulling power in Tuscany? Not for me, no. The Tuscan vlogs were boring, and so are their visits to the UK (because I live there and I don't like it).

Their relationship seems to change when they are away from home too. She says she is menopausal, but that really is no excuse for not bringing your 'A game' and making an effort for your weekly vlog - which she admitted yesterday only reflects a fraction of what goes on day to day in their lives. She also moaned yesterday that nobody ever gives them freebies. I remember several items that have been sent to her over the years and she has thanked the senders in her vlogs.

Nicki is beginning to come across as far from lovable and I wonder if, now that Sky is an adult and beginning to make her own way in life, she is wondering if she wants out from her situation in Positano. I don't think she has ever been really comfortable in front of the camera and I think that, given the chance, she would ditch the vogs altogether. Just imo.

Sorry, me again, I was trying to edit my last comment and ran out of time.

I wanted to add:

Also, she often complains when people ask for recommendations regarding hotels, restaurants, etc. She gets quite snippy about this, especially on Instagram. If you look at her vlog intro though, the title says: "The Positano Diaries. Amalfi Coast Lifestyle. Travel Tips". So, can you really blame people for thinking she is open to questions about travel information and ideas for their visits to the area?

I haven’t watched the video, but when she talks about cooking two meals a day, how many people are we talking about?? Isn’t it mostly her and Carlo these days?
And yeah, she used to be more open about the brother doing most of the vegetable work.
Surely almost everyone cooks/prepares at least 2 meals day? I might watch the latest this evening. I can easily think of at least one time she was undeclared gifted something with that sunscreen

Yes, @CocktailGirl she does indeed bill her channel in that way so why is she surprised to get such questions, which she handles ungraciously.

Regarding them not being sent things: To be fair I think when she said they don't get sent things she meant by companies looking to be promoted by them. She has mentioned receiving things in the past but it seemed as if they were actually unsolicited gifts from followers. One time she specifically asked that people don't send her things from abroad as they can incur taxes or duties, which happened when she had to pay EU50 to receive a parcel that a follower had sent her with her favourite deodorant that was not available in Italy.

They've clearly made a strategic decision to not be the type of Youtubers who fill their vlogs with obvious ads and promos, they know it would detract from the humble authentic image they need to maintian. Trumpeting that they don't take gifts and freebies gives them the moral high ground, all they really want is Patreon and Youtube ad revenue cash to pay for the new house in Tuscany.

She makes it sound like she's cooking a roast dinner twice a day, it's a bit of pasta. Hardly complicated is it.

Oy oy oy. Was this another Tattle press conference, or is she getting a lot of flack from followers?
The whole vlog definitely had an undertone of snarky defense.
I think it was clear Carlo had to give up his job to help her. I thought he always came across as a nice guy, but since giving up his job he just irritates me. Probably as much as he irritates her.

They said they don't get many negative comments on their own channel so they might be addressing Tattle, although they referred to things we haven't really discussed eg lots of freebies, them arguing, and presuming they are mates with all Youtubers. Maybe people discuss them elsewhere, on expat or local commmunity forums, or forums for content creators. Or were they simply trying to hush local gossip, after all the recent dissing of crowded Positano and pesky tourists prompting her purchase of the Tuscany house? It's strange that people think they can tell you what you should think about them

I'm pretty sure Carlo's retirement was planned for the time it happened, quite a while back they said he'd been at the cemetary job since he was very young and had served the requisite number of years. If he had an olden days muncipal pension it could well be on full salary, so no one would blame him for that, good luck to him. I still believe he's a genuinely warm person who enjoys the strong ties he has to his local community. In the past she used to film him more incidentally, doing things around the house, coming and going from work but I think she's using him more since his English has improved and she knows he's more likeable - and he's stepping up because she calls the tune.

I also agree that I think he is a warm person. I think retiring from his job, and spending more time away from the things he loves is changing him, and not really for the better. I mean, it’s not that I have spent much time thinking about it. I am just basing it on my reactions to their vlogs in the last couple of months. He looked much happier and relaxed when he spent less time with Nicki, basically. 😆

I agree. I think he is a much more caring person then she is. She has often referenced the fact that he enjoys reading the comments after their vlogs and he spends a lot of time answering as many as he can. She doesn't do much of that. I get the impression that he really cares about their followers and wants to engage with them. This, of course, is very good PR, but also I get the feeling that it comes naturally to him.

I love the way he knows so many people in Positano, and that he is greeted with smiles and greetings whenever he goes. It all appears to be very genuine and not just for vlogging purposes. Being surrounded by good friends and family becomes so much more important as you get older, and I really don't think he will be happy if she tries to make him to spend too much time in Tuscany, especially as his parents are so elderly and virtually housebound now.

I saw some earlier comments on this thread about whether they are married or not. I don't think they are, and I remember wondering why. I have not seen all their earlier vlogs, and have not read every comment on here, but does anybody know if the question of religion has ever been raised? I was wondering if he or his wife were, maybe, strict Italian Catholics and a divorce would be out of the question? Perhaps that is why Nicki seems so annoyed whenever the subject comes up. Just a suggestion.

Yeah I think the speculation was that Carlo is legally still married to his wife, but I don’t know. I mean, he already lives with another woman and has a kid with her, so why would he not get divorced? I admit though, I know too little about Catholics and their beliefs.

I think it would probably be more Nicki protecting her assets / future inheritance from any possible divorce although presumably she also has no protection as far as his Italian works pension etc due to not being married

The stress of being together everyday since his retirement is showing on her rather than him , she seemed to be a lot more fun and sociable before , mountain walks with friends , kayak trips etc

I think this about most (if not all) influencers who quit their jobs and then just do social media. Ditto with her, people just lose sense of real life

I didn't watch for a few weeks because honestly, she reminds me of my ex-stepmother in my younger years - fake positivity and a painfully curated life, with a bitter jealousy underneath that comes out as snark and arrogance. I've always believed Nicki to be a deeply insecure person with a need to be 'special', and as someone her age, I think she's very insecure about ageing and becoming less cool and hip (which is inevitable).

I feel for Skye quite a lot, because having that kind of woman close to you during your younger life can be really painful. They project their insecurities about age, weight, etc onto you like a punching bag and when you're young you just absorb and internalise it. I hope Skye is happy and establishing healthy boundaries with Nicki.

I watched the latest vlog and just saw more of this attitude. She seems genuinely bitter over not receiving PR gifts or being invited to events. I don't think she does YouTube because she loves to film and record the daily life of Positano, but that she wants to be fawned over. And quite simply she isn't (except when she produces woe-is-me videos like this and gets all the soppy comments saying they love her). Everything has to be curated and in place - while anyone is free to do whatever they want with their appearance, I don't buy into this whole full face of make up and carefully tousled hair while doing a messy activity like olive picking or soap making. She seemed furious when Carlo mentioned they argued before filming - it's like everything has to be perfect and beautiful in her life (woe-is-me comments excluded) and it just comes off as so fake to me.

Carlo on the other hand is naturally funny, chatty, and like you've all said has a really deep connection with Positano itself. I think Nicki is well aware that he is considerably more popular, but he seems quite hen pecked.

Thank goodness, Nicki has changed the voiceover intro. She still refers to the “view” but it’s no longer a staccato bark.

I agree with Tattlers’ comments that Nicki sometimes comes across as being aloof, managing to look and sound bored rigid about more or less anything and everything. However, slightly Nickifending!, I think her interaction - or lack of - with Carlo’s friends whom they bump into while pottering around the village and local area is that many of those born and bred in the area use the Neapolitan regional dialect when speaking to one another. It doesn’t matter how fluent her spoken Italian is, she’s at a distinct disadvantage if the conversation is Neapolitan. So she lets them get on with it, with the choice to either stand still, while looking like a spare part, or walking on and leaving them to it. She may have mentioned this herself but I do remember Carlo saying something about it. Doesn’t excuse her looking as if she’s sucking lemons (!) but perhaps explains it?

Yes, the new voiceover sounds less exasperated. Note that she's now saying "we" bought a house. Says she'll be furnishing it with flea market finds in Tuscany, next shot they're off to a big shopping centre to look at new stuff. Furtively filming in the furntiure store when clearly they're not allowed to, more of her usual entitlement. She thinks an Eu400 arm chair is not too expensive, a hint to get the Patreon cash rolling in. In the shopping centre she goes to the MAC store, how long until the new item gets manky in her scuzzy kit.

Says she didn't want to use the donkeys to deliver the heating pellets down the steps. This approach is a double flex; Nicki shows her kindness saying she feels sorry for them (despite using the animals in the past) and they can emphasise their hard working simple life, lugging and staking the sacks.

Now that the tourist season is ending, I am sure there are plenty of youngsters with time of their hands who would be more than grateful to earn a few extra euros delivering those sacks for Nicki and Carlo. That last (yet another) pair of sunglasses that she bought would probably have paid for the labour......... and all the pellets too :ROFLMAO:

Yes, good point about paying some seasonally underemployed locals to do their lugging - although knowing her she'd still film it to flex herself as lady bountiful. They were happy to benefit from the porter company now having no business to borrow their little vehicle, paying them back with a bit of fuel in the tiny tank. Giving the porters some work to carry out the delivery would indeed have been the right thing to do.

Her taste in sunglasses is awful, her clothes are so cheugy she tries to inject some personality with the sunnies but the ironic 70s old lady styles don't work on her. They remind me of the specs Jane Fonda wore in 9 to 5.

I don't think she has fashion sense per se, it's more a case of clothes. They're just clothes.
