I know of a girl who was named Kream (parents were a huge fan of the club scene). The girl was picked on so much she had to change it by deed poll to a much better name.

For whatever reason it seems like sticking in a y somewhere is especially popular in the south – a lot of Jayden, Brayden, Kayden, Wyatt, Rayne, Wesley, Blakely/Blaykely, Lilly, Berkeley, Kasey, Avery, Aliyah, Kinsley, Brooklyn, Bryleigh, ect.

Personally I do not care for names that can be spelt in a multitude of different ways like Kaitlyn/Caitlyn/Katelyn/Kaetlyn/Caitlin/Kaitlin or Haley/Hailey/Haylee/Haleigh/Hayley/Haylie

I cannot stand double names like Mary Ann, Mary Beth, Ava Marie, Olivia Grace, ect. and I absolutely loathe names that sound like they could be that of a pet’s (or stripper) that might be cute when they’re toddlers but do not age well (see: Jamie Oliver’s kids names) ‘Rufus’, ‘Daisy’, ‘Apollo’, ‘Buddy’, ‘Honey’, ‘Poppy’, ‘Baxter’ ‘Precious’, ‘Angel’, ect. I know TWO poor young women saddled with ‘Storey’ and ‘Journey’. No thank you

My husband’s second name is StJohn

Mine's middle name is Hamilton.

He didn't tell me he even had a middle name until he moved in and I said he needed to go onto the Electoral Roll.

Oh, how I smirked. And then told him mine.


My mother was an utter snob. Her mother was exceedingly posh and gave it all up to run away with the stable lad, so after a world war knackering the five storey London townhouse, the loss of the family fortune and suchlike, she grew up poor, as said stable lad became a bus conductor for some job security for the family. When she started knocking out the kids, they got aspirational and generally inoffensive names, mostly based upon fashionable playwrights/actors/films/musicians. By the time she'd got to the next one up from me, she'd developed a crush on the actor Lee Marvin. That half brother is eternally thankful that she went for the Lee part and not the Marvin. By the time Husband #1 has been dispensed with and I showed up, she went for the 'classy' actress reference for my middle name. She loved Elizabeth Taylor and had her hair styled to match hers for many years from being a teenager (before the old lady cauliflower perm took over), but was also a fan of Grace Kelly and had seen all her films.

Did she call me 'Dragon' Grace? Nope. 'Dragon' Kelly? No (which is good). Did she choose Catherine, Frances, Margot, Alexandra or any of the 'posher' names of characters she had played? Nope.

She picked the name of the character Grace Kelly played in High Society.

Tracy.

Because it was HIGH CLASS.

I can't believe anyone could seriously name their kid Ebony and just... not immediately associate it with Ebony Raven Dark'ness Dementia Way from 'My Immortal' (the infamous Harry Potter fanfiction known for being so god awful that it's laughable)? Like, it must be nice to live without that knowledge because that name is so cursed that just reading it hits me like a two tonne truck
