It’s a bit of a debate but Cohen is one of the very few Hebrew-based surnames that Jews have been able to keep. It should be inherited rather than given just because it’s ‘cute’ and it represents a huge part of Jewish history - it’s one of the very few Jewish names that can be traced back to pre-holocaust. I’ve read that not every person of the Jewish faith is offended by it but a large portion are.

There is more to it than that I think, this link is fairly good https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-big-baby-naming-battle
I grew up in a city that has a large Jewish population. Names such as David, Jacob, Noah Etc.. meant you were Jewish and these names were past down generations. You wouldn’t call your kid a ‘Hebrew’ name if you weren’t. When I left my city and became a mother, I just couldn’t fathom why a non-Jew would call their child Isaac. But we also have a large Greek population, Italians, French, Irish etc. People stuck to the names ‘belonging’ to their cultures.

For instance, my Greek friends were named after their grandmothers/grandfathers. So Johanna, Aspasia, Maria, just kept doing the rounds for years. It’s a way to keep your culture and tradition despite living in a completely different part of the world.

I hate names that aren't really names. Very popular among insta mommies.
Examples:
Anthem Tru
Sockie (yes Sockie, a girl)
Disco (i mean wtf?)
Spike (middle name Domino... really?)
Story
Chosen
Sovereign
Camidas
Brave
Love
Acer
Bow
Avocet (I have no idea now, also a girl)
Poet
Sutter (no not stutter... Sutter)

And (i promise I'll stop after this)
Names that are cute for babies but would sound stupid when they're adults.

Teddy is cute for a baby (not my taste but do you) but imagine a 31 year old named Teddy?
As nicknames they're cute but not as an actual names.

Just name your kid theodore so at least he has a real name to put on his CV.

(Fun fact: I know a family who had a child named Teddy and then their family member had a child named Dolly. So now there's two cousins named Teddy and Dolly.)

This is probably gonna get me hated but....

Can't stand Isabelle (any kind of spelling) literally every girl that gets born seems to have had that name for the past 15 years 😂

I think almost any mans name that isn't a biblical one tacky, just don't like them at all.

I do quite like little old lady names for girls 👵🏻

I hate names that start with Is or Ah.

Isabelle just sounds like a foreign person saying "is that a belle?"
Isadora similar thing.

And then Ah names sound like you're say A something.
Like Alyna just sounds like saying "a leaner" like someone who leans  :ROFLMAO:

I've thought of one more but it's not a name exactly but I hate when people name their kids names that don't match.
(bizarre I know)
But I hate it when you have one kid called Elizabeth and then another called Mckenzie.

It just doesn't make sense

oh wait thought of one more. I hate what I like to call serial killer names.
Example:
Blade
Ender
Arrow
Hunter
Gunner

(sorry if those are your kids names. They just remind me of killers or those gunmen that go into schools and shoot people...)

Okay lol I was trying to keep my anonymity but in that case we probably know eachother 😂
I'm not that far away - Mid Devon here 👍.

I know of a girl who was named Kream (parents were a huge fan of the club scene). The girl was picked on so much she had to change it by deed poll to a much better name.

Dull-see , quite common where I’m from
Apparently it's an old woman name? So I've been told by the internet. I've never heard of it but weirdly enough I don't hate it. Wouldn't name my child it though.

Same as Bronte. I actually really like that name (I know) but I wouldn't actually name my child it.
