When I gave birth back in Feb I joined Mumsnet as a place i thought I could get advice from other Mums

We were put in lockdown not long after I gave birth, my fella was working 12 hour days so if I had a problem I'd ask Mumsnet. I'm only 25, first baby, tired, just needing a bit of advice. I'd just ask about naps and his sleep etc really

Then one day I had a massive argument with my Mum over a footie shirt. Long story short- my Mum supports Liverpool, so do I, my fella supports Man United. Im not bothered about footie though and for my fellas first Fathers day I wanted to get him and the baby a match top each. It werent really a present for the baby more for my fella. We had both even said to each other he can decide what team he likes when hes older, if he even likes football. So my Mum had a proper meltdown and told me she doesn't want to speak to me or the baby again if I got the shirt.

Anyway, I was upset after the argument and just wanted to vent. So I went on the "am I being unreasonable..." section.
Fuck me... I got some HORRIBLE answers. Telling me im council estate trash for wanting to get a football son for my child. Telling me I was after a story in the DM??? Telling me I shouldn't force a football team on my kid
Just basically ripping me a new arsehole for wanting to just do something nice for my fella 😂
And other people were just calling me a liar. Saying I had made the entire thing up!?

Ok...

Anyway it all ended up in me getting BANNED. I emailed them curious as to why, my response was that an Admin had read my thread and she thought it 'didn't sound true' ok then 😂

Foul place, glad I found Tattle
But you didn’t honestly expect to take him into Waitrose in those rags, did you?! :sneaky:

Joined for all of a week, and then couldn’t be hooped with the place. The snobbery and folk trying to pretend they’re something they aren’t did my tits in and the holier than thou parenting...

I nearly got banned for ‘trolling’ because I baited a thread about dinners and told them I’d just served McDonalds to my 6 month old as his first weaning food. Chips are just potatoes, right?:sneaky: Didn’t go down well... or did, depending on what you were looking for:ROFLMAO:

Posters are making threads at 8am moaning about not having had messages or effort.

jesus let the country wake up and have their coffee first! 🙄

i blame social media as well, everyone constantly posting what they have got etc, will make others feel bad about perhaps a more modest effort. everything has to be done on a grand scale!
One of my colleagues went on a massive rant last year about not having had a text from her 18 year old son yet. All posted (on Facebook) at 7:30am. Fair play I don’t have an 18 year old son, but I imagine most 18 year old lads (and girls) are still asleep at that time on a Sunday FFS.

This thread is reminding me of the times people were complete bitches to me! I once mentioned in passing that I was writing a book on a particular topic and one poster laid into me completely, telling me I don’t know what I was talking about, what right did I have blah blah. As it happens, I knew exactly what I was talking about but it made me feel so crap I changed my name and didn’t go back for months.
About 18 months ago a poster said her husband wanted to move back to the town he was from originally , where his parents live. I happen to live 3 miles away and it’s a stunning little village, with beautiful views and the sort of little cottages you pay loads for on holiday. It’s 20/30 mins away from 2 major cities and lots of work. Cue the Mumsnet vipers piling on telling her what a dump it was, and finding pictures of slightly old fashioned cottages for sale, making fun of them and making it sound like a horrible place. I tried to defend it but was ridiculed. One poster started slagging off the local school and saying how bad it is and how could you send children there...it just so happens I work there and it’s a fantastic school which is massively oversubscribed. If you live in the Welsh valleys, you’re a bit ‘backward’, according to some posters...😳

To be fair, a lot of the posters admit to liking Tattle and find it more supportive than Mumsnet.
Tattle isn't overrun with hoaxers and beggars either - when was the last time there was a thread where the poster claimed to be broke and in need of immediate funds with no way of accessing any? When was the last time someone posted from the back of an ambulance on the way to Intensive Care? :D

The begging threads used to annoy me too - the ones where posters would claim they only had 2p to last until payday and the "I've pmed you, check your inbox" messages so it was obvious that people were giving them money.

There was one begging thread that went on for a long time during the time Mumsnet got hacked and posters were falling over themselves to donate this poster things from Tampax to paying for Ocado shops. I think there was a self-appointed PA too. Mumsnet did absolutely nothing about it even though, someone vulnerable was getting overly invested to the extent that it was going over boundaries.

I think if you've got spare nappies or tins of food, give them to your local Foodbank not a random stranger on Mumsnet.
That was Margaritta and her sock puppet Sad Widow. She got two Mumsnet funded Christmases out of her supposed impoverished state. How she can live with herself, I'll never know.

The latest one was needing a quid for a pregnancy test. This poster only had 4p in the entire world, poor wee soul. I hope no-one sent her any money.

There was one on Digital Spy going back a few years, she'd left her abusive husband and she and her kids were in a refuge. DS members rallied round and raised money for a rental deposit and then furnishings. Her authenticity was backed up by her 'sister' and her 'mother' posting on the thread. :D :D :D I'm laughing, but the level of naivety was astonishing. Once the flat had been secured and fully furnished, the poster, and her mum, and her sister, vanished from the internet.

I'd like to think we are all a bit more cynical these days.

I wish they’d put the money to good use and modernise the forum. It’s so dated and the fact you can’t edit posts is ridiculous, considering you’ve been able to do it on Digital Spy and others for years. The excuse is that they like to let the post ‘stand as it is’ whatever that means?

The amount of posters who blithely put “Get rid”, or “dump” in a thread as a response to something trivial, or to someone who is no place to dump anybody gets my goat. They are just tossing off a few words whilst they are looking at their phone in a queue, meanwhile the poster is in turmoil. Boils my piss. They think they are being ball breaking warriors but they probably won’t say boo to a goose in RL.

Don’t forget a statement necklace. It’s the standard answer to anyone who’s asking what they should wear to an event. Job interview, night out, wedding, funeral. In mumsnet land you must team every outfit with a ‘statement necklace’.
Haha yes, its like they're stuck in the early to mid noughties and still abide by the rules of Gok Wan and his How To Look Good Naked show back then 😂

They sometimes have threads like 'what are you wearing today' and its the the same 5 people posting photos of their daily outfits which are usually dire!

Loving this thread! Used to be a proper MN lurker and lived for the drama. Dipped in and out as life gets in the way etc. and once covid hit I just couldn't be bothered with the threads. So much panic etc. It's also really hard to find a community on MN. I've only been using tattle for a few weeks and already feel part of it's community. Less deranged people here too.

I’ve not looked at that thread, and won’t, but it’s probably a troll. They’ll have set all the thick mumsnetters up to post details about how they get their fanny clean. Troll will be happily fapping away, proud of their work.

I once got accused of being a troll because I mentioned bus fare for a child. I had one “Royalty” member insisting at me that kids are free on buses all over England followed by a load of her friends jumping in to insist the same and that kids oysters are free - they may well be, but you can’t use an oyster in Lancashire and they charge for 7 year olds on the bus here. Definitely my weirdest personal experience.

Looks like they "accidentally" sent out their spammy begging Christmas Eve email to every single email address they have 😵 so millions?

Apparently it's been fixed, err that's not how emails work. All that spam has gone out and can't just be fixed like that 😆 their internal processes are always a shit show. Micheal again said on the 26th don't worry its all been fixed now 🙄. People claim it's been sent out to email addresses that were supposed to have been wiped years ago and removed from their database.

It’s utter bullshit. I received that email and was confused as I had been banned a while back. When I was banned and didn’t know how it worked and tried to sign up again with the same email address I was getting error messages so emailed them and asked why/what was going on etc. They emailed me back saying they had no record of the email address I was emailing from and perhaps I had signed up to netmums by mistake? (Yes, this is actually what they said to me). And now, 16 months later, I get the spammy email to the address they said they had no record of. Liars.

The EXTRAORDINARY amount of ‘ wills ‘ that haven’t been left to children is astounding.. I hope to baby jeebus my kids are not waiting for me to die so they can get their hands on my 3 bed semi .. all I’ve read over the past 3 and more days is that the parents are retired , going on cruises , spunking the money up the wall and all the daughter says is ‘ wah wah wah’ why can’t they pay off my mortgage.. I even read tonight some mumsnetter went to private school in the 90’s got given 20k and still is crying a river cos the parents are enjoying themselves in retirement

Does anyone else remember the time a woman was so distressed about what her bare arse looked like she took a photo of it and uploaded it? There followed lots of posters critiquing it and telling her it looked lovely etc. I couldn’t believe that someone would actually take a photo of their backside and upload it to an Internet forum for all to see!

I used to go on MN but came to realise it's full of snotty, stuck up women in an echo chamber.
The only forum I went on was the baby names to get an idea of how to narrow down our name choices and it is a nasty, snobby place! Im definitely too common 😉 judging by my tastes.
I am not making this up. There would be names mentioned and the legit responses mentioned were 'chavy' or 'council estate' or 'down market' all legit responses as if that was ok. I find the whole forum all about class and showing off how middle class you are. All about image with little substance.

Hi I’m a former mnetter.

I know everyone says it but it really isn’t the place it used to be.

Apart from the dullness and repetition ( I've done the babies, children, teenagers ) I got totally fucked off with the moderation and speed with which threads got zapped.

I like it here a lot , see you around 👍.
I didn’t like how someone started a post they didn’t get everyone agreeing with them, then it gets deleted for privacy reasons or in other words the poster had a strop

Mumsnet have four stock replies to every thread:

1) Leave the bastard aka LTB

2) That looks like sepsis

3) Log it with 101

and finally, the one that really makes me grind my teeth:

"All money is family money"

There is currently an ‘cost of engagement ring’ thread, one of my favourites as it really brings out the craziest people.

There is one poster who claims she would be ‘mortified’ if her husband spent too much on her ring- lets be real, you wouldn’t be mortified you’d love it, and he obviously hasn’t spend a few k’s and nothing wrong with that, but don’t act like you’re above others because you have a cheaper ring and obviously your marriage means more 😆
Yeah, for some reason the cheaper and shitter your ring and wedding day were, the better person you are.

And apparently everyone who attended your dogshit wedding still rave about how much better a shot of piss and a homemade cheese straw on your driveway was than one of those awful, show-off weddings, with food music and toilets.

This is an intriguing story about something alleged on a Mumsnet thread.

I reckon this was another troll one! They came back to update after a few days and said the tenant’s landlord have given them all these details about how they’d get the neighbours evicted. Someone pointed out this would be a GRPR/confidentiality breach, then the next thing you know, all the updates have been deleted and the OP didn’t come back 🙄 obviously when the story makes the media you can see why they let some threads run!

Justine trying to defend it is a right cluster fuck. She's tying herself up in posts and being shady. She's as bad as an infuencer. Mumsnet for years after the rules on affiliate links changed were still not declaring it and posting them as if they were doing users a favour.

So they've been saying for ages they couldn't add an edit (even though they have a dev team of 12 doing fuck knows what?) and now all of a sudden they can.

They show an utter disrespect to the users after years of making an absolute fortune.

People thanking the site operators are a bit misguided, it's users they should thank. It's like people thanking Tesco for years of selling them food then Tesco charging VIP membership to get in 15 seconds before the store opens. Tesco doesn't grow the food and for years it's been making money from selling you their service even if you paid for it via adverts. Ok that's a bit confusing 😆

Anyway their forums won't be closing as that is the money making bit, they just want to cream off as much money as they can. If 1000 people have given £50 that's no small amount.
