Cheese and Buscuits I’m the same as you! I felt like the odd one out (in a good way) and my god, I started WW3 when I said “doesn’t every woman have a hair free pussy now”, fucking hell you would think I posted and admitted to being a sexual deviant! They also said “what type of mates do you have that you discuss shaving your vagina with”, and I said “um, normal female mates”, they all went on how all the men that like hair free pussies are paedophiles (yawn) and that I “obviously think I’m a porn star” the husbands and boyfriends of these women must be totally sexually satisfied NOT!!

They just seem sheltered and that they don’t live in the real world, I’m not in the ‘spirit’ of MN, I like the TV boards but I often write something out and then delete because I think that I’ll just get flamed, lots of cheeky bitches on it who you just know wouldn’t say boo to a goose IRL.

I think on MN you hit a nerve with some of them, and jeez if your okay with your man watching porn (which I’m not really -when I have a man that is- but I’m not going to try and tell a grown man what to watch ffs, men watch porn & as long as it’s legal and nobody is hurt then what’s the issue) then your a disgrace to the female race and trying to be ‘cool’, also if you smoke weed then your a smelly scruff junkie

I think those threads should be banned. Often, it's people desperately trying to conceive, and, as you say, posters give them false hope by telling them 'YES!! I can see a line, congratulations!' I also think pregnancy testing kits should come with advice telling people not to test until their period is at least one week overdue. Sensitive pregnancy tests pick up chemical pregnancies, which again gives false hope - and also grief at the pregnancy loss when menstruation arrives bang on time.

What do you all think about the rash of threads recently, where the poster has either felt something move in her stomach, or leaked colostrum, and subsequently finds out they are 30+ weeks pregnant? There were at least 4 separate threads by different posters, over the last few months.

I am really skeptical about them generally. I have known of one person who “found out” they were pregnant at that stage, but years later she admitted she’d really known longer and had just been in denial. They’re a fave made up topic, and if any of them are true, I think it’s far more likely to be that type of situation.

This thread is reminding me of the times people were complete bitches to me! I once mentioned in passing that I was writing a book on a particular topic and one poster laid into me completely, telling me I don’t know what I was talking about, what right did I have blah blah. As it happens, I knew exactly what I was talking about but it made me feel so crap I changed my name and didn’t go back for months.
About 18 months ago a poster said her husband wanted to move back to the town he was from originally , where his parents live. I happen to live 3 miles away and it’s a stunning little village, with beautiful views and the sort of little cottages you pay loads for on holiday. It’s 20/30 mins away from 2 major cities and lots of work. Cue the Mumsnet vipers piling on telling her what a dump it was, and finding pictures of slightly old fashioned cottages for sale, making fun of them and making it sound like a horrible place. I tried to defend it but was ridiculed. One poster started slagging off the local school and saying how bad it is and how could you send children there...it just so happens I work there and it’s a fantastic school which is massively oversubscribed. If you live in the Welsh valleys, you’re a bit ‘backward’, according to some posters...

yeah i live in a MN hated town and it really got me down for a while until I thought fuck them, there’s good and bad things about everywhere and if they don’t realise that then they must be stupid or in denial!

General opinion on Mumsnet was that any money that came into the household should automatically all be pooled together. They were very vocal about couples who had separate accounts. It was seen as completely abnormal and the phrase "All money is family money anyway" was CONSTANTLY parroted on there.

It does make me sad sometimes to see threads like that, when they say like they’re at home with 3 young children and DH is being a twat like it must be lonely and it makes me sad they go through pregnancies and pain and childbirth for men who just treat them like shit!

I feel a lot of the thread titles are click bait these days that it totally adds up that either MNHQ are planting these threads or that journalists are starting them with the blessing of MN. And many posters just don’t even realise.

I think so too. I think some of the trend for similar threads is organic from that, as in if MNHQ or others are planting one about a dodgy landlord, then other people with landlord problems are inspired to post once the seed has been planted.

As I said about the AF post, often there’s something scandalous eg an AIBU where the poster is being beyond unreasonable or a seemingly random post from royalty inspired to create chat when MN are perennially being attacked or someone posts about the premium disparagingly or they’re having massive site issues again, as if to deflect.

I used to be on there. Got really fed up with the ancient forum. Got fed up with the nastiness. I felt I couldn’t post or even dare start a thread as I would be ripped a new one. Everyone on there is always ready to pounce.

Final straw came when they asked for a fiver a month - with no benefit to the user. Bizarre.

Yeah, they did. £5 a month or £50 a year for a 10 second edit function. I’m sure they said that quoting posts was in with subscription fee as well but everyone can do that now. And I’m not sure if the edit function ever materialised either.
