In the style and beauty section everyone seems OBSESSED with Seasalt. I'd never heard of it till Mumsnet, checked out the site and the clothes are the most banal, insipid, mumsy boring clothes you could imagine. Yet they all rave about it?

I was a child of the 80s, so too young for them then, but the Seasalt sandals look exactly like what my older cousins wore in the 70s.

So many people posting about while they were on a walk they saw others on walks. The OP was simply getting exercise but the others are granny killers.

Not to mention the whinging about joggers and people on bikes getting in their way. The gym’s are closed and people need to exercise to keep healthy and boost their chances of fighting off the virus! But then many Mumsnetters also revel in being overweight and having an unhealthy BMI so of course they are allergic to sodding exercise aren’t they?

the site is also a mess. No editing, cannot quote other posters but people can @ you which send you an email which is so annoying when some one keeps doing it. Quite frankly it’s a cheek of MN to think they can charge for that shit show!!

Quite, it's a dreadfully old and clunky forum setup. I'm really quite shocked at the revenue they've been pulling in yet the site is technologically shit. I'm assuming they don't employ any php programmers or the like.

They really, really hate men don’t they? It’s disturbing in fact. I can only assume that most of them have been really unlucky and been badly treated by men an/or had poor male role models growing up, but to tar all men with the same brush because of their own bad experiences is just stupid. So many of them could do with a load of psychotherapy to deal with their issues. Yes, some men are twats, but so are some women, not that you’d know from reading there.

I am so glad I found this thread! MN has always been a strange one for me, I have posted occasionally and only felt worse afterwards as I was usually dismissed with comments asking why I care, why bother with the drama etc.

The worst posts for me are when an OP asks 'AIBU to take a day off work?', and I always feel so bad because I know how the thread is going to go, regardless of the reason for a day off - 'I have never taken a day off / I would go in if I were you / I went to work with a broken leg' and other comments becoming gradually more and more ridiculous! I half expected someone to come on and say 'I went to work during surgery, I just got wheeled in and got on with it'. I always felt bad for the poor OP feeling rough and then getting harsh comments from MN.

The whole business element is baffling to me.

I understand that currently companies aren’t paying out big advertising spends, but in the long run you need a lot of £5 per month to compensate the advertising spends. The premise is that if you pay you don’t see ads, but if everyone subscribed and no one is seeing the ads then why would advertisers pay to be on the site?

I also don’t understand 350k a month salary bill, I don’t work in this industry it comparable to the company I do work for it seems an awful lot,?

It’s not even that. You’ll still see ads if you pay, just not as many. And their moderation policy is shocking anyway. I *think* the mods who did the night shift used to be volunteers, so where the hell is that money going?!

God you have some memory. I loved spotting a troll but when HQ wouldn't delete and let it run and run I got so annoyed. There was one that I've already mentioned upthread who would get deleted then name change and start again. I have my suspicions that she was the orange poster who ended up on reddit, unfounded of course.

My mum is like this. She’ll make tea and offer biscuits, or food etc but she hates it when workmen use the toilet. I don’t get it, really. I mean, what’d you want him to do, shit in the garden?

Mind you we did once have a tradesman who came in, mum said oh help yourself to the sweets and I literally watched him take the whole bowl of sweets, bowl and all. Just. Took it. Took it and left the house with it. I mean who leaves the house with SOMEONE ELSE’S BOWL. Never mind the sweets in it, that was a nice bowl as well. He said he wanted to give some sweets to his colleagues. Which was fine. Still didn’t need to take the fucking bowl though Sat there in disbelief. One of those moments where you can’t say anything.

Well I’m sorry, but what can equally be applied here is: who watches someone and lets them leave their house WITH A BOWLFUL (plus bowl!) OF SWEETS WHEN THAT ISN’T WHAT YOU MEANT? That is Mumsnet-esque in itself In fact, it deserves a copied and pasted and (hopefully works) one of these:

There's someone on my Facebook who has posted 6 separate photos of all the goodies her DH bought her for Mother's Day - flowers, chocolates, jewellery, clothes, cosmetics, a watch - all with love from their 17 week foetus.

Mumsnetters would be up in arms, either raging with jealousy or sneering at the expense.

I just hope her DH realises he has set the bar extremely high for all future mother's days.

I think it's really sweet.

I've never been on digital spy, I've just heard they're as bad as mumsnet for deleting threads. For some reason I was under the impression it was a forum for TV viewers.

It was originally, but then they added forums for general discussion, politics, sport etc

I am obsessed with the aibu thread, just for a laugh. Some of the questions and replies are hilarious. I check tattle and aibu several times a day.
It is so toxic though, some of the responses are so frustrating and I feel sorry for people who are looking for genuine help.

I think the major problem is there are so many trolls on the site the people genuinely asking for advice either get lost in the system or are treated as a troll. @Itsallaboutmememe's post above is example of how dreadfully the powers that be treat people.

I’m trying for a baby so ventured onto mumsnet for the first time to see if I could find any useful threads. I’m sure there are some but I was surprised how basic it’s all set out and there are SO many abbreviations being used in conversations that I didn’t have a clue what I was reading...

Came back here and carried on reading about Stacey Solomon and Cassy Clarke instead
