I started reading some stuff on MN when I became pregnant as sometimes you Google an obscure question and a thread from there comes up. Some of the comments on there are so weird. Even something as supposedly innocent as baby names...occasionally a poster will say 'oh I love this name but DH doesn't' and replies will be like 'you're carrying the baby not DH so name baby what you want' or even worse I'm sure I've read 'well bear in mind DH may leave you at some point so he shouldn't get a say'... like WTF!!!

I've since had a gander at some of the AIBU or Chat threads and it's shocking. People are so horrible!

What a weird thread, of course everyone’s telling them to just go, fuck what the neighbours think 🙄

I’m getting fed up with people breaking the rules because they’re bored of them. EVERYONE is struggling, everyone is bored and frustrated, everyone’s mental health has taken a bit of a battering. If everyone adopts a fuck it attitude now it’ll only push cases up and we’ll end up in lockdown for longer, it’s selfish.

There was an ice cream van permanently parked by my school in the summer, we were also allowed out to the chippy at lunch (80’s)

You have to be kidding me 😮. As a former software dev I'd be horrified to put my name to that site as a developer!
All full time too, it's like going back to the 90s using that site. It's just a greedy advertising platform that's run very incompetently. They're exposing themselves for how shit they are by rushing out such a terrible idea, saying it's due to COVID-19 but also saying they were always planning on charging people for 15 seconds of editing your posts.

They should have died a long time ago, along with friends reunited.

Tattle got a mention 😆 what exactly are they saying is wrong with tattle moderation? There's a clear set of rules and posts that break them get deleted. Total opposite to Mumsnet that delete like crazy.
Maybe a paid subscription is worth it for better security, decent moderation etc - I can see the appeal of that (Tattle sure doesn't offer that - now. am doubting whether MN does either)

Just read a thread saying where the OP didnt understand all the complaining, and that her dad didn't have to buy things for her mother

But she's not allowed an opinion as she's childless. Think people forget theres a difference between child free and childless.

Haven't been on there for years, had to have a nose last night. There was a thread from someone who had opened a handwritten envelope addressed to her partner, within which was binded photocopies of passages from Robert Louis Stevenson novels. What followed was about 25 pages of replies - half were saying it was from Jehovah's Witnesses and the other half saying her partner was cheating on her  It turned out that it was something to do with an eye test the lad was going for :ROFLMAO: 25 pages of crap and accusations of cheating when the poster could have just asked her fella in the first place

At least I've been reminded why I don't go on that site :ROFLMAO:
They are deranged.

I don't know how any of them manage to keep a man considering how much they seem to hate them.

The whole business element is baffling to me.

I understand that currently companies aren’t paying out big advertising spends, but in the long run you need a lot of £5 per month to compensate the advertising spends. The premise is that if you pay you don’t see ads, but if everyone subscribed and no one is seeing the ads then why would advertisers pay to be on the site?

I also don’t understand 350k a month salary bill, I don’t work in this industry it comparable to the company I do work for it seems an awful lot,?
They allegedly have 100 staff on around 35K a year. Not sure what the roles are. Remember the debacle of an intern posting user IP's on Twitter, a very serious data breach.

Wow I am shocked by the pregnancy too. They hated the moldies for being a gang but then their drinking treads were always about setting them apart as a gang.
The best thing about MN troll was when someone who didn't like them posted all their usernames as baby name suggestions.

Yeah I was a thread about tipping and I tip my hairdressers, I thought everybody did and yes, WW3 came on..I started a war when I said “doesn’t every women below age 40 shave their vagina”, jeez 🤣🤣🤣 I was told I think I’m a porn star and lots of other shit!!
I’ve never understood why some women have a meltdown at what others do with their pubic hair?? They’re not going to see it 🤣

A heads up for fans of MN’s long-standing, bulletproof troll Crumbs: in her latest incarnation she has an ultra-twattish thread on the go about being too posh to realise that England are playing in the ‘World Cup final’ tonight and it could potentially spoil her plans for supper for ten on the terrace.

Inexplicably, many people appear to actually believe it!
I read this earlier ...and troll came to my head straight away, isn’t she toying with the idea of letting them ‘ leave’ the table to watch the football. Batshit crazy.

Sorry to hear that. I can’t remember if it was on here or on an old thread on mum’s chat that warned this would happen and the moderation basically said “yes, if you pay for premium and get banned, you will not get your money back”. I’ve been banned several times (but to be fair, I deserved it 😂😂)

And I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but has anyone else seen the poster who makes constant threads on there slagging off Tattle and asking things like “AIBU to think Tattle is mean and horrible to poor instagrammers and influencers”? Normally they get told they ABU but the same person (I think) started a recent one in Chat and got mostly sympathetic replies how this place is pure hell and spiteful.
Unbelievable. I think threads about baby names on here is far more polite and lighthearted than the ones on mumsnet. Some of them are downright cruel about name choices.

Yes, used it for years, then left when it seemed like if you breathed wrong, you were banned. Hated the over the top moderation.
Also because they all get offended at everything you even have to put lighthearted in your message

To be honest: I've lurked on their mental health board posting about BPD and the relationship area, but there's so many smaller projects to help out at the moment rather than help run a website that has already made tons of money. And I'd rather save the money to make small donations to a food bank and a suicide prevention charity.
Totally agree, I can’t understand how they are so skint so quickly. My local food bank means more to me.

Well at least your honest! 😂

The post I’m referring to what started by someone who has had several miscarriages and is really desperate for a baby, so for them to say ‘ooooh I can see it’ when there is nothing there just seems to unkind and is giving the OP false hope.
Oh I know exactly what kind you mean! You see them all the time on facebook mummy groups. I had to leave them soon after my son was born because of the stupidity!
