I think a lot of mumsnetters have been badly treated by men in their private lives and probably had poor role models growing up and so that their only frame of reference, but women are most definitely not Saints. I know just as many women as men who had affairs cheated on their partners, it’s not exclusively the domain of men to have an affair. Yet considering how much they loathe the male sex, they also can’t seem to live without them and move on from long term relationships really quickly and shack up with a new bloke and then express genuine surprise when their kids struggle to accept it.

I also remember one thread that really boiled my piss where a woman got so angry at her partner because Nutella on their bed clothes that she threw objects at him and slammed a door so hard it broke the plaster on the walls. Obviously in mumsnet land it was the partners fault and he must have done something to trigger it. Anyone who pointed out that domestic violence can happen to anyone male or female was roundly piled on.

Pre covid, before everyone really got super pissy on Mumsnet, it sometimes went the other way (in a fair sense).

There was one where the OP’s husband was a stay at home dad while she went out and worked. She was whinging that he didn’t get much done when their oldest was in nursery in the mornings beyond some light housework and resented him taking their kid out to play or participate in organised activities in the afternoons rather than somehow fitting in famously toddler friendly chores instead like mowing, painting and decorating etc. She tried to argue with a thread filled with the mothers of young children pointing out her selfishness and I think she scarpered after she failed to win them around with the argument that as she was the breadwinner, he should assume the responsibilities of everything non-work related.

Now, I wonder if the present Mumsnet obsession with financial independence in relationships and cocklodgers would have seen a completely different array of responses.

The only thing I’d say in defence of the anti man rhetoric is that it doesn’t seem a lot removed from the anti woman rhetoric in chunks of sites like Pistonheads (all exes are psycho) and Reddit (all women, whether little sisters to old grandmothers, are bigots or psychos).

Also, there’s a little of needing to read the room. I wouldn’t go onto Datalounge and announce that “as a straight woman…”. I‘d get told to ”die in a grease fire”. It’s similar as announcing on Lipstick Alley “well, as a white woman…” Mumsnet users are nasty, but the death threats, fish jokes and racist insults do get threads and posts pulled pretty quickly.

This isn’t an insult to those sites - just an observation that everyone finds their “tribe” online and sometimes don’t care for interlopers.

I left after seeing how it was becoming a really horrible judgemental place with no empathy or real life experience whatsoever.

I remember seeing a woman post that her partner was smoking a bit of weed and should she try to get him to stop as they had a child together. One hysterical reply was that the baby would be taken away by ss after the police realise he is a drug dealer with other dealers 'in and out the house'. 🙄

I would be absolutely slaughtered for some of the life choices I've made on there 😂 but so many of them fail to realise that we aren't all born to Conservative parents that have been married for a thousand years with a pile of family money to fall back on.

I read something online today that said studies have proven that people born into middle class lifestyles have less empathy than poorer people and as I always suspected, then they aren’t as street wise as us working class and it’s street savvy and understanding people that gets you through the trials and tribulations of life more than money, basically conservative people are poor people managers but better with money.

I always suspected this to be the case with the experiences I have had, so many on MN pretend to be MC when they are just WC! 😝😝

I always seem like the odd one out with the things I post, so many ppl I know IRL have the same ideas and opinions as mine but not on MN, gosh no, if your husband watches porn then you are to LTB and if your okay with it then your just trying to be a cool partner and your a disgrace to the female race..don’t get me started on the feminism posts.😆😆 they are ducking bonkers!!

If you buy weed from someone that grows their own then you are contributing to the slave trade in Vietnam🤣🤣🤣 work that one out ffs!!! They are fucking clueless...

I think a lot of them genuinely don’t like spending time with their children.
Do you ever post on there or just read? I’ve only ever posted once when I had a problem with my radiators!!! There’s a plumber on there and ( I think it’s a he) is really helpful! Saved me calling out someone to look when one of them didn’t work 😂. Apart from that have never posted, it seems like it’s stuck in rut.

I couldn't get over a thread a couple of weeks ago when users branded Yankee candles as 'cheap'. I only use neom was one posters response. £40 a pop for a candle. You're literally burning money. What the fucking fuck? I can't even afford Yankee candles, I buy the Aldi dupes for 3.99 and it's a big treat. 🤣
Oh don’t you know they all use Jo Malone darling 😉

One of the many reasons I stopped posting on Mumsnet was gobshites telling me I was speaking shite when I was giving (free) advice in my professional field. You know, the one I'm qualified and experienced in? And actually know what I'm talking about?
totally, i dont bother because youd get some twat following you around the boards no doubt!!
I do admit i only go there to read certain threads now, theres too much i dont like about it!

Ahhhh love this thread! I only ever posted on MN once..and I’ll wear my hat of shame as it was a “Is this positive?” pregnancy test post! Looking back now my child’s 2 it was the most obvious positive ever but I was in utter shock, and surprisingly, people were very polite to me. (This was 2018 mind.)

Now when I need minor advice with my child, I google, like a normal person, and will only browse the website to have a laugh at other people’s posts asking the same question. 😂😂
Well at least your honest! 😂

The post I’m referring to what started by someone who has had several miscarriages and is really desperate for a baby, so for them to say ‘ooooh I can see it’ when there is nothing there just seems to unkind and is giving the OP false hope.

There was a thread about en suites where someone described having a poo in one as the same as doing a dump in the corner of your living room. Mnetters never poo obviously
Or someone who has never stayed in a hotel room or lived in a house with the luxury of an ensuite bathroom.

On some property show though, I saw an 'open' ensuite, where the toilet, basin and bath were separated by a low wall and not boxed off completely. Now THAT would be like someone doing a dump in the corner. Also a swift way to remove any romance from the relationship :D

Is that true? I must admit I have wondered about the origins of Tattle and the fact it is hosted overseas.
I also got the nod from a mumsnetter, I was on the thread about influencers...basically calling out their shady behaviour, unsurprisingly the thread kept getting deleted, then I got a pm saying we are discussing this over on tattle.

Not sure if she’s been mentioned on this thread but does anyone else remember LaQueen? The biggest bragger and snob known to mankind!

I know a few of you have commented about moving over to the Mumsnet offshoot group on Reddit. Do any of you still post there?

In my opinion, it was great fun at first to openly discuss all the things that MN would have banned us for. It felt secret and naughty, yet we were getting away with it!

However, as someone stated earlier, it all started to get a bit dark and sour. Lots of infighting started and then another offshoot group of the MN offshoot group was set up (Sounds crazy and unbelievable but it is true). Lots of snarling and insults flew between the two groups, which I found hard to understand as surely they were all on the same ‘side‘ ie anti Mumsnet?

Almost everyone was being insulted with childish jokes, some of them very bitter and some absolutely disgraceful, misogynistic barbs thrown from women to other women. Talk of the large size of certain posters’ fannies and accusations of one poster secretly being a man. It was mind boggling.

I also deregged from reddit once all the insults and infighting started. It became Mumsnet on super strong steroids. Mind you, the bulk of those Reddit posters were all banned from Mumsnet and, after a month or so on their Reddit thread, it was very easy to understand why. They were nasty, catty, mean, and downright vile - even to each other! And they were meant to be friends fighting for a common cause, ie anti Mumsnet. No wonder they all got banned from Mumsnet and assembled on Reddit.

And as for that Mango and her acolytes (aka her sock puppets), WTF was that all about? She was deranged. All sensible one minute then fuck fuck fuck fuck the next. I suspect alcohol was involved with that one but she was toxic. There was another super snarky nasty one on there, Duplassie or something. She was downright cruel and seemed to revel in goading the people who she didn’t like. She got banned in the end, thankfully. I don’t think anyone missed her. They certainly didn’t ask about where she had gone, which you would if you genuinely liked someone on a forum.
I used to go on and use it literally as it was set up for but could never make head nor tail of what all the beef was about and even when explained, it seemed like nothing really. So I backed away slowly 😂 will still pop back on especially if I spot an obvious troll on MN but am not invested enough to try and understand the in-dramas and disagree with a lot of what is posted.

Where I'm from it's now expected that you give money and perhaps a small token present too. There are no money, requests though, if an invitation doesn't have a gift list it's the done thing.
A guest is expected to give £150/£200 and if you're a couple about £300. A wedding would roughly have cost me around £1k, when you take all of it into consideration. So it is really expensive. I went to a wedding somewhere on the continent, which ended up not happening, very sad but it would have made a good thread, thankfully I'm not a bitch and we just called it a holiday.

Stepmothers and Mothers in Law are all evil. No questions asked. All men are abusers who want to rape and kill us, even gay men apparently, who also hate women as well and drag is offensive because it’s mocking women and should be seen in the same way as blacking up (yes really!). One poster recently said Drag Race was no different to the Black and White Minstrel Show. And she was serious as well.

God help you if you admit to being a doctor's receptionist, they are the rudest people on this planet! I really quite like mine, they are all lovely.
We used to have a battleaxe one.
A few years ago my husband was having a heart attack at the check in desk in the surgery and she told me I should ring 999 for chest pains!
Thankfully she’s not there anymore.
But afterwards polite, little me thanked the doc, nurses and useless receptionist for all their help. I think the shock made me include her when really I should have complained.
Lovely ones now, though.

I used to love Mumsnet. But a combination of my kids growing up; the relentless po-facedness; continual hacking sagas i got progressively pissed off.
Anyway what brought me here was Jack Monroe and Mumsnet’s zapping any less than complimentary thread
Tattle is much more fun.

The competitive cleaning is also insane. Unless you bathe head to toe in zoflora every day then you’re obviously a slattern. I’ve also never seen so much hysteria about loo brushes

There’s a new thread on there with someone complaining about their 60 year old neighbours getting a hot tub. The OP is getting absolutely slaughtered ! They love a hot tub or a parking thread on mumsnet.
