What happened?
Justine found out live on the site stuff thread that a member had started a thread on reddit about mn, they had used a famous meme of a cockroach at a desk wearing a little tie and labelled it mumsnet complaints department. I think you had to be there, it was seriously tense, awkward and funny though.

Is it me or is Mumsnet viscous? I’ve posted a few times on there, nothing unreasonable, and the commenters just attack! And they have the cheek to moan about Tattle being “bullying”
I know this is a very old post but i agree they are vicous. Me and hubs cant get pregnant but of course were trying a few years ago and we were just wondering about money, certain types of benefits that we may be able to claim. I cant remember what i put but it was a nice enough post, simply explaining our current financial situation, affording mat leave etc...what might we be able to claim whilst off work......OMG you would think i was trying to diddle the benefits system the answers i got!
Anyway deleted my account after telling them all to calm their tits 🤣🤣🤣

And they all refer to their evening meal as ‘dinner’. My evening meal is tea, I’ve never met anyone who calls it dinner. Ever.
I live in Scotland and where I am we call it dinner! If you said to me you were having your tea I would automatically assume you meant a cup of tea 🤣
But yes, the snobbery on there is just unbelievable!

There's a thread I still about, this young single mother fancied her plumber. The MNers goaded her into asking him out!! She texted him at midnight asking him for a drink and he never replied!!!! Agagagagag. Cringes me out so much. I mean can you even imagine getting a text like that from a client, let alone so late at night? Yet they still persisted to get the OP's hopes up, then said "oh don't worry it's still a massive confidence boost just to have got up the nerve to text him at all"
Yes and once again, if that had been the other way round, they’d have been wanting her to phone 101 and report him for sexual harassment 🙄 I remember that thread and they just love egging posters on for a bit of excitement in their own dreary lives. ‘Placemarking’. ‘Any update, OP?’

Do school lunch boxes , it’ll bring them all out.
Unless you’re feeding your child nothing but raw broccoli and kale then you’re a shit parent, the comments about fruit being too full of sugar are always hilarious

How does this lunchbox sound ladies of mumsnet

Can of coke
Dairylea dunker
Grab bag of salt and vinegar
Share bag of Maltesers

😂😂
Plus left over happy meal 👍🏻

Random moan; The poster Annelovesgilbert seems to post on every single thread no matter what the subject. She must spend such a ridiculous amount of time on there, I don't know why but it irks me. I now scan through threads looking for her before I read them properly😆

I love the 'Name Changing because my previous posts could out me' - proceeds to write post with every identifying detail possible so if you were another party and read it you would be in no doubt it was your mate down the road with the red Volvo Estate who lived next door to the guy with the blue Corsa and had 6 kids that was being complained about

Haha yes, its like they're stuck in the early to mid noughties and still abide by the rules of Gok Wan and his How To Look Good Naked show back then 😂

They sometimes have threads like 'what are you wearing today' and its the the same 5 people posting photos of their daily outfits which are usually dire!
A few weeks ago they were all having a collective meltdown because skinny jeans are going out of fashion (praise the Lord they never looked good on me!). There was a thread about 30 plus pages long bemoaning how they will never part with their skinnies etc. I mean they’ve had a good innings, they’ve been in fashion for about 15 years! Bootcuts/baggies etc have been long overdue a revival and are more flattering on people who don’t have long, skinny legs.

There’s a thread on there at the moment about a woman that wants her boyfriend to move in after 2 years together.
He doesn’t want to but has compromised on keeping his place in case he needs space
Clearly at this time they are not on the same page
But of course * he’s shagging about *
How about you sound like you’re nagging him into doing something he’s not ready for

And woe betide someone unexpectedly knocks on your door
They don’t answer it ??
ive never heard that , not answering the door if someone knocks .. NEVER ..

I sort of share this attitude about weddings. When I was approaching 30, I'm long past it now, loads of my mates got married. In a 6 month period I had 11 weddings, each invite was like a summons.
I now hate weddings, I hate the ostentatious hype of it all, i hate how much it costs me, I hate the one upmanship.
Don't understand the engagement ring cost though, come on, if it goes tits up, you want to be able to sell that thing.

Have they called it a sex pond yet ? There’s also someone claiming they’re going to call their baby Adolf, it always amuses me when people take the obvious trolls seriously

No it wasn’t a crafting group. Hope you’ll understand if I don’t say which specific group though.
At least it’s looks like we weren’t singled out then, they have previous.
The trouble was, for a while it made everyone suspicious about posting in case it was shared elsewhere.
No that's fine, I wouldn't want you to post anything identifying. The piss-taking of the crafting group was thoroughly unpleasant and cruel. It was a relatively small group of amateur crafters, so sewing/knitting/painting/decoupage/upcycling etc was all done for their own pleasure and sense of achievement, no-one was trying to make a living from it, but a certain breed of posters took great delight in mocking them all.

From what I've read on Mumsnet, they think all gifts are tat, hate Secret Santa and if anyone makes them a homemade gift, it goes straight in the bin because it could be all germy.

Who would be mad enough to spend £100 on chocolate?
Yes all gifts are tat unless you’re going to a wedding, then gifts it is otherwise its crass to give money 🥴

A long time ago Mumsnet was a warm supportive place. I started using it a long time ago when my now 17yr old was very young. Was a member in birth boards where we supported and congratulated each other.
It has become quite a horrible place and I rarely read or post there now.
