There was a thread before Christmas about offering tea and coffee to tradesmen. Now thats just basic common decency to me, but the amount of posters who were horrified at the thought of offering ‘the help’ a brew was shocking. Apparently they should bring their own in a flask (most do), but it’s still good manners to offer them a drink in my opinion. Then they all wonder why they get such bad service from tradesmen, Well maybe because you so obviously look down on them and see them as beneath you?

For all their wokedom, they are all mostly a bunch of stuck up middle class Hyacinth Buckets.
agree. I’ve had builders at my house from aug to jan doing my extension. We did brews for them everyday and some times got boxes of biscuits. I think it’s polite and to be honest I’m happy to do it, as I want them to do a good job so worth keeping them happy!
They told us some clients treat them awfully, speaking down and not offering a drink ever. I mean it’s just basic manners to offer isn’t it. Or even just put a kettle and cups out.

I’ve been on there for for a long time now and I must say over the last few years especially it has really gone downhill.

People are just desperate to spew their venom and it is really upsetting to see sometimes.
I totally agree. There are so many troll posts you can't read anything as genuine. I would never have posted for advice or about a difficult situation I was in because there are some who are like a pack of wolves just looking for a victim to rip to shreds. It's turned into a really bitchy and nasty site and I don't see how they can turn that around.

When I worked as a TA, teachers were NOT allowed to confiscate (for instance) a child's phone, fidget spinner, or anything they might be playing around with and disturbing the class unless it was actually a dangerous object. But were expected to confiscate their lunches. That's not my idea of consistent discipline

I HATE it when schools faddish ideas about food such as that bread is "unhealthy" and rewarding children for not bringing sandwiches. I have a young niece and nephew, it makes me very concerned about what ideas will be put into their heads when they start school

I always mentally read CF as cunty fucker 😂

How did I forget "Give your head a wobble" Sounds so pathetically infantile
I always though DH was dickhead

Again I don’t understand the business model but 7million came in and they only made about half a million profit. That seems a very slim amount of profit for a website, how the hell does it cost 6 and a half million a year to run it, and if it does you need a lot of 5 quid a month to run it!

6.5 million divided by £55;(assuming everyone signs up for a year) = 118,181 subscribers...is that achievable?
Apparently they are expecting around 10% uptake

I hate when people buy expensive shit just to brag about it. My friend bought a £220 designer snow globe 😂😂😂 what the actual fuck. Who cares
snowglobes are things you buy few a few quid in a souvenir shop to put out at Xmastime... anybody spending a fortune on one deserves to be parted with their cash :D

Woah was your bully a "name" on MN? Sorry someone was repeatedly unkind to you. That's awful.
Yes, she was a ‘name’. She was fine to me, actually helpful and gave very down-to-earth advice when I was a very young mum with no idea, then one day I lightheartedly made fun of a typo she made and that was it, she turned against me and my experience on there completely changed as a result.

I think they get a bit elitest sometimes, if you have been around so long you remember penis beaker, pombear or cutted up pear you're in. If not jog on!

I have had a few laugh out loud moments there but it's mostly people that take everything so seriously now!
The threads that start with “what year did you join Mumsnet” or “ I haven’t seen ......, is she ok” always got competitive and cliquey, someone would always get a little offended .

One thing I’ve noticed is that there will be a run of threads about the same subjects. For example at the moment there are a couple of threads about how to cook and eat potatoes, a few weeks ago there were lots of threads about lodgers and the problems they cause, before that several threads about living in Lincolnshire!

I sort of share this attitude about weddings. When I was approaching 30, I'm long past it now, loads of my mates got married. In a 6 month period I had 11 weddings, each invite was like a summons.
I now hate weddings, I hate the ostentatious hype of it all, i hate how much it costs me, I hate the one upmanship.
Don't understand the engagement ring cost though, come on, if it goes tits up, you want to be able to sell that thing.
In our 30s we were the same. Our record was 7 weddings in one year. We didn’t go to a couple of them.

The fanciest wedding I went to was absolutely awesome. The couple rented a castle for the weekend. We stayed there from the Friday - Sunday and were waited on hand and foot. Our room had a turret! The castle was really opulent and there were suits of armour in the main hallways, a beautiful library, paintings. The grounds were manicured to the nth degree. It was like a fairytale.

The marriage itself only lasted a few months.

I feel a lot of the thread titles are click bait these days that it totally adds up that either MNHQ are planting these threads or that journalists are starting them with the blessing of MN. And many posters just don’t even realise.

What happened with the premium membership, I got an email about it but didn't follow up?
Any theories on why posters are so confrontational, I got called out a few times for saying the wrong thing, I really had no idea I said anything controversial and I got absolutely ripped apart by one poster. One! I think I said (light hearted thread) "all men like sex", the poster then educated me on why I was a sexist vile specimen, I felt so humiliated but definitely learned a lesson to think carefully before posting silly comments.

New influx of posters who live on Reddit and Twitter, sites where bullying is encouraged to keep engagement up.

Mumsnet was always a condescending place, especially for not a “mumsnet royal” poster, but the people coming through have exchanged wit and snark for competitive slanging, especially if they can get something into “Classics” or go viral.

Recently looked at pregnancy announcements etc and a lot of threads on mumsnet came up so I had a look. Just women asking for some fun ways to tell friends or they're partners. Most comments were like 'just tell them' 'say I'm having a baby' 'why the need for the announcement' like why? These women are obviously excited yet they still have to look down on them or make them feel inferior, it's so sad.

Yeah the ‘stay at home’ mums don’t realise how lucky they are. So few women can even afford to do that these days, but It’s almost like they enjoy being martyr’s over there. They all seem to live in this twee middle class world full of drama. None of them get on with their mother in laws, or their neighbours.

MN reminds me of those mean girls at school who were teacher's pet and would snitch on you yet outwardly smile and pretend to be nice.

At my high school in the 90’s we had vending machines selling fizzy drinks, crisps and bars of chocolate. In the canteen it was all chips, burgers, hot dogs and my favourite which were the huge slices of pizza with or without pepperoni that were absolutely swimming in grease, but were so tasty. The thing is though when I think back there were very few kids that were overweight. We might have eaten crap but we were so much more active.

It annoys me how cliquey it is too. All this
“Oh hi boden_dress67!”
“Hiiii *waves*”
Total derailing of the thread for people to show off how much they use the site
