I made the mistake of registering on mumsnet a few years back. I de-registered within 24 hours.
A nest of vipers - vile, hideous man hating oddballs.
I get the slagging off, of any individual - when they do something horrendous, but LTB, if he wants to go to the pub once a week?
Most of them are online all day, but it appears that they have perfect lives - fantastic jobs and four toddlers to bring up.

I made a comment, that I felt distressed at seeing images from dog meat markets in China. I was told that I was clearly privileged - to hold such a view. I didn’t bother to try and argue my case - but thought it best to get out of there.

I simply asked if there may be any kind of benefit to claim to top up maternity pay, this was when we were trying and I just wanted to know my facts.
The answers I got made it seem like I wanted to commit major benefit fraud and claim all the money 🤷‍♀️
WIBU to ask? I must have been as I clearly upset a lot of them 😂😂😂

I don’t know if it was you or someone else asking a similar question but I read a post like that fairly recently and thought it was a completely valid question. The poster was absolutely ripped to shreds! I am always shocked at how nasty the women who post on there are to each other. And I don’t like the constant anti trans culture either.

I joined MN about 8 years ago. Loved it for years, got great advice, and really enjoyed the Chat forum. AIBU was always full of hatred so I avoided that. Then a few years ago the hatred seeped into the rest of the forums making it so unenjoyable. Coupled with the multiple security issues, I decided to de-register and haven’t been back since. I think charging for MN is ridiculous when they get so much in ads and sponsorship.

Mumsnet is such a weird place. At the start of the year they were all absolutely hysterical about the virus, whinging the government weren’t doing enough, that the schools didn’t close early enough, that we didn’t go into lockdown early enough. Then when we did there was all the curtain twitching, spying on neighbours, wanting to report people who weren’t staying in their homes 24/7. Now it’s gone on too long for and they are all whinging about their children not being able to go to school (all teachers fault obviously), wanting to book cottages in twee middle class seaside resorts despite locals not wanting an influx of people. I mean god forbid they should have to parent their own kids and miss out on a bleeping holiday!

I've been on MN on and off (more off in recent years) since about 2007. I had a major falling out with a group of posters who were pretty horrible to me (for the time, nowhere near the doxxing stuff that goes on nowadays, but pretty bitchy and spiteful nonetheless) in 2012 and didn't post at all for about 2 years. Since then I've namechanged regularly if I do post on there.

I thank Tattle for opening my eyes to the fake threads, the ABC parking one and stuff - I thought the other thread by that poster was total BS but when it was confirmed...that decided me that MN is kind of a busted flush. I can't imagine paying to use it. I just wouldn't bother

I came off there years ago after reading a thread that personally really upset me and the amount of people that were piling on was awful. Popped back recently as I was bored, and see there are posters there still doing that really irritating/trying to be hilarious “gavel” thing 🙄 and the same posters I remember from years ago still imparting their holy wisdom on to the crowd of sheep that hang on their every word 😴 I’m gobsmacked they are trying to charge for it!

I went on mumsnet when pregnant with my now 10yo.
it was genuinely great as a parenting site back in the day, and helped me through my divorce.
There were some really funny threads in classics.
However in the last few years it has become so woke.
I like the less populated boards if you have a genuine query.

Also, what’s the bollocks about MN royalty?

i used to discuss Harry and Meghan on there, which led me to tattle (my happy place!)

ps. Really showing my age, but I started off on a Handbag.com.

( I haven’t even checked if it’s still around)

I was always ignored over on MN (apart from on the special needs pages). I'm not rich nor thin enough for that particular site.

I’m trying for a baby so ventured onto mumsnet for the first time to see if I could find any useful threads. I’m sure there are some but I was surprised how basic it’s all set out and there are SO many abbreviations being used in conversations that I didn’t have a clue what I was reading...

Came back here and carried on reading about Stacey Solomon and Cassy Clarke instead 😂

I left after seeing how it was becoming a really horrible judgemental place with no empathy or real life experience whatsoever.

I remember seeing a woman post that her partner was smoking a bit of weed and should she try to get him to stop as they had a child together. One hysterical reply was that the baby would be taken away by ss after the police realise he is a drug dealer with other dealers 'in and out the house'. 🙄

I would be absolutely slaughtered for some of the life choices I've made on there 😂 but so many of them fail to realise that we aren't all born to Conservative parents that have been married for a thousand years with a pile of family money to fall back on.

Absolutely agree , it can be extremely judgemental- especially the Relationships topic. It’s full of posters adamant that their partners would never ever cheat , and if they did they would instantly be filing for divorce, kids or no.

On another note, I’ve been “off “ the chat forums for a while- lovely to see an old thread of mine still going!

I read something online today that said studies have proven that people born into middle class lifestyles have less empathy than poorer people and as I always suspected, then they aren’t as street wise as us working class and it’s street savvy and understanding people that gets you through the trials and tribulations of life more than money, basically conservative people are poor people managers but better with money.

I always suspected this to be the case with the experiences I have had, so many on MN pretend to be MC when they are just WC! 😝😝

I always seem like the odd one out with the things I post, so many ppl I know IRL have the same ideas and opinions as mine but not on MN, gosh no, if your husband watches porn then you are to LTB and if your okay with it then your just trying to be a cool partner and your a disgrace to the female race..don’t get me started on the feminism posts.😆😆 they are ducking bonkers!!

If you buy weed from someone that grows their own then you are contributing to the slave trade in Vietnam🤣🤣🤣 work that one out ffs!!! They are bleeping clueless...

This has (for the most part) been my experience in real life too. The working class/downright poor people that I know (including myself here!) have more empathy to those less fortunate as we understand just how easy it is to get in those positions. The less money people have the more generous they have been with it too in my experience. And also us working class know how to throw a decent party 😂 I think the less 'real life' problems you have the more time you have to get in a flap about absolute bollocks. I would love to worry about letting a gardener use my toilet (a real aibu I have just picked up on there for an example! 🙄) but I'm too busy worrying about whether I should pay my rent or feed my children on my laughable wage.

Sorry I’m a bit late to the party here. It always stuck out to me how many people on MN had cleaners, not that there’s anything wrong with that if you can afford one, but they were constantly accusing them of stealing, it was awful! The final straw for me was when someone posted saying a brand new bottle of pink gin had suddenly become half empty and it HAD to be the cleaner, not her teenage son or husband who she later disclosed had previously been an alcoholic 🤦‍♀️

People from a working class background are as a rule the most kind and generous and give you the shirt off their back. Back in my barmaid days I would get tipped every drink off working class men/women, then your high day and holiday middle class customer would order a ton of drinks, talk to you like you’re a moron, not say please or thank you and not leave any tip!

I could also never get over how naive some people on MN come across, like they have never lived in the real world, dealt with normal folk or ever been in any kind of real life sketchy situation (not that that’s a bad thing!) oh and you’re an alcoholic if you have a drink any other time than on Christmas and no more than a glass of champagne then at that 😂

😂 I often thought if I was to mention stuff I got up to when I was younger they’d probably wonder how I was still alive 😂
