WE DESERVE THEM!

Here on the outskirts of Gateshead, one of our few consolations for being surrounded by men in flat caps, with giant leeks under their arms, smoking Woodbines and leading whippets on bits of string, is the opportunity to eat a Greggs corned beef pasty in the knowledge that the rest of the world envies us.
You've got stotties too...!
I'll take a flat cap wearing whippet for the local Greggs stocking stotties.

And peach melbas. We may live in the region that every PM tries to wipe out but my god, our food 😂.

The day Greggs makes a parmo will be the best day ever. Obvs Gateshead Greggs won’t be allowed said parmos😘.

Mumsnet just makes me feel very very sad at the moment. They just seem to suck all the joy out of everything on there.
My lovely DIL (actually my son's lovely partner) I tell her not to go on MN for advice ever, because they are just awful people.
I hate it because that forum should be a proper lifeline for mums of wee ones. I'm really not up to date on new parenting stuff and DIL lost her mum 2 years ago so I have tried to fill a gap for her, but obviously I can't.

It just pisses me off so much, the bleeps
Tbh, I've always found it such a soul sucking place.

The peach melba is the cause of our road trip. Saw one, wanted one, persuaded the three tweens that it would be a great idea to drive 400 miles to go and get one!
(Each obvs - I'm not a MN in disguise!)

Damn, now I want a chicken parmesan sausage roll. It is 84 degrees and 90% humidity, why do I want to turn the oven on?!

A peach melba would be gorgeous right now, my bedroom's like a sauna
I think you might be thinking of a different peach melba.

Up here we don’t have the cool, ice cream one with refreshing peaches and raspberry sauce, invented by Escoffier. Ours is this

I was at work with someone yesterday who had spent the morning cooking a fish pie and rhubarb crumble. I was so tempted to say, “but surely all you want in this weather is a giant salad and to nibble on some fresh fruit?”

Gearing up for a weekend of posts about feral children in gardens, DH drinking too much in the hot weather and needing to find quiet luxury linens to cope with the heat.

(Toast or kindred btw for the latter 😉)

Random fact- Greggs in the North of England and Scotland sell empire biscuits, as I discovered recently, so I may just move up there and be done with it!
I’ll never be size French <sigh>
I went up north for a week a few months ago and had one every day from Greggs 🤪
