you never see any funny posters on there really... like on here there's so many times I have a proper chuckle to myself. But on there, when they try to be funny it's pure tumbleweed moments.

Has anyone seen the binge drinking culture thread? The OP makes a lot of valid point about how normalised heavy, problem drinking is in the U.K. and some of the posts are so defensive in response. You can tell they are the ‘Wine O’ Clock’ brigade who need a glass Prosecco to ‘help them wind down’ at the end of the day. I’m probably projecting a bit as I’ve been raised in a family of heavy drinkers and its left me almost teetotal as a result, but it’s like playing a game of spot the pisshead reading that thread and many of the comments are the kind of thing my functioning alcoholic mother would say
It’s either that or threads where a poster discusses enjoying a drink Fri-Sun and is immediately piled on by posters saying they clearly have a drink problem to be drinking so often. There's a thread on there about not wanting a bank holiday in June and the selfishness and batshit weird arguments are off the scale
Presumably no one forced them to buy a house near a pub? And presumably the vast majority of 16 to 18 year olds won't have their studies disturbed by a bank holiday? And the OP of that thread not wanting an extra bank holiday as she will be forced to pay out for childcare for the day, how is that anyone elses problem and did she not sign up to the extra costs and responsibility by having kids in the first place?

duck sake, only on Mumsnet would they loan about a bank holiday! God the sad lives these people (are they even people? Swear they’re robots) must lead.
Cracks me up how all of them on there act like their kids doing GCSEs is a major world event and everyone else's lives should revolve around it. I don't even remember what I got for mine.
It's like... find something that most people would enjoy and then try and take it down as miserably as you can. Almost an Olympic sport for some of them.

Covid has been spreading like wildfire in my family and I for one, am looking forward to finally seeing my parents during the Jubilee weekend after missing Easter due to me being ill and the forthcoming Bank Holiday due to my parents being ill with Covid.

I don’t think a royal family is relevant in this day and age and would rather it all wound down when Liz pops her clogs. However I’ll take the extra day’s paid holiday, thank you.

I’m only pissed off because my employer moved a Monday holiday in May to June to make it a long weekend from the Thursday and I don’t work the end of the week

I'd quite enjoy one of those low-key monarchies they have in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, where the royal family spend their time cycling around in jeans when they're not busy meeting ambassadors and things.
one thing i find really weird on mumsnet is how obsessed they are with copying certain clothing styles - there seems to be loads of threads dedicated to copying kate middleton's fashion sense and parisian fashion
This happens on SO MANY threads and is probably my biggest mumsnet pet hate. Someone starts a nice jolly fun thread and within a few posts someone has come along and - I always think deliberately - given a miserable and extreme response which brings the thread down. Along the lines of ‘what’s your favourite colour?’ ‘I don’t have one because my entire family were killed in a freak Crayola accident and now I’m alone in the world’.
I think it’s actually really cruel.

Similarly people not being allowed to complain eg ‘AIBU to ask my mum to call before she pops in as we’re TTC and she nearly caught us at it?’ ‘My mum is dead, what I wouldn’t give for her to come into my home unannounced, one day you’ll miss her doing that’.
That’s not the issue is it, unfortunately everyone will be dead one day, we’re still allowed to ask someone not to do something or be pissed off by someone!

Anyone read the post about the cv fraud and dob not matching employment dates. Replies from people who probably don’t even work let alone interview or know anything about the recruitment process.
I’d rather be large and happy than stick thin and miserable. Likewise poor and happy than rich and miserable!
