They can be so passive-aggressive. Reading an old, (trying to be) light-hearted thread on how to spot Brits abroad and in typical MN fashion someone had to come out with; "When i have travelled it has always been said that they knew that we were from the North of the UK, because we had smiles on our faces and were friendly."

In the past, I would have taken that as an innocuous and probably true anecdote, but now that I know them better I side eye comments like that. :ROFLMAO:

Seeing as that one had just had unprotected sex with a new hook up, an STD check would have been more appropriate. Nobody gets to take the moral high ground when they aren't that picky about safety or health.

A woman posted that she was on the phone and her other half poked her in the a... She has been told that he is abusive, God knows what he would do to his children, and she needs to report him!

I'm actually surprised she didn't screenshot my comment where I called them miserable bleeps and pin it on Tattle generally. It's a casually used word in my circles and means something akin to b (ie not gendered) and I forgot its not used that way normally. I did think afterwords 'oops, bet that was too strong for Tattlers, probably not appreciated and they won't interpret it the way I meant it either' but by then I couldn't edit. I came in here expecting to see it. :ROFLMAO:

I think what some of them can't grasp is yes, we can be harsh but about celebs not to celebs. Celebs put themselves in the public and we are in our rights to criticise them. Very different target and context. Whereas, Mumsnetters can be harsh to each other and many, many users write to essentially dominate conversation, just to get their opinion out. Tattlers aim to entertain each other.

The Tattle threads tend to be more lighthearted and entertaining and no-one deliberately stomps over to threads to mock, sneer, put down others and to take over whole threads until they become echo chambers. Threads about the Radfords, Katie Price, Mrs Hinch etc tend to be taken down on Mumsnet pretty sharpish whereas we discuss them all on here.

Plus Tattle has an edit button and the site is a lot easier to use. The last time I used Mumsnet, there was a Waitrose advert covering the background and it made my eyes go weird and triggered a migraine.

Saw that one alright, it was only a matter of time 😂 have to say I find both toxic for different reasons. Some people on tattle have such hatred for influencers it's actually a bit worrying. I saw on one thread here about an influencer who is expecting where they wished she would be bed bound for the rest of her pregnancy coz "that would show her"... Weird! But ultimately they seem happier and do call people out for legit reasons. Mum's Net people are just crazy and so grossly unhappy in every aspect of their lives! It's so strange! They amount of them that tell women to leave their husbands is so strange. He left a dirty sock on the floor translates to he is a manipulative controlling wick leave him.. Like whaaaaat!? Ye are crazy!!!!!

I agree but any site is going to have unpleasant posters and weird comments, but I think we have fewer and to me the difference lies in context. Unless the influencer, blogger, celeb or whoever is self-obsessed and googles their own name to find the thread they wouldn't know what we write and at that point it's their own fault. They want us talking about them after all, and they'd hardly be upset if what we wrote was flattering. The criticism is based on the fact we do not fawn over them, often shining a light on any discrepancies and hypocrisy they'd prefer hidden. Hence the hysterical 'bullying' claims. They know it's balls.

As for members, Tattlers on the whole ignore opinions they don't like and we definitely don't fight like they do. Whenever I've felt a comment of mine was either disagreed with or misinterpreted instead of arguing back forth I just let it stand and let the thread move on and get back to topic. I witness others doing this all the time, Mumsnetters rarely do this. They'll even regroup in new threads to 'continue the conversation' when in reality they wish to rant within an echo chamber. Yet we're the 'toxic Tattle' 🤨

The thing about mumsnet is that they think all men are guys and all women saints. There is no middle ground, when the truth is that no one is perfect and life and relationships are complex.
