Thats such a boring reply.

you see it all the time when someone posts about people’s opinion, they think they are so clever when they literally use the same sentence as everyone else.

maybe the op doesn’t want to share their opinion straight away set the tone of the thread with their opinion.

Posts like this drive me mad! Why would a journalist care about MNs opinion on conscription. It's not likely to be happening any time soon. In fact anytime they suggest that the OP is just getting opinions or stories for a newspaper it makes me cross 🤣. Who outside MN cares what they think.

Link please?
I dunno. Papers will publish any old rit for clickbait these days. I saw one the other day about someone whose ‘Christmas had been ruined’ because Hermes had lost their parcel, which was a 30 quid hair shaver for her partner. The most interesting thing about the article was that her boyfriend was called ‘Tank’.

I don’t know why they get so upset that their comment might end up in the online paper anyway. I often try and say something outrageous on there in the hope that it ends up on Mumsnet Madness of Twitter 🤣

My favourite thing is when they go ‘I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR THE DAILY MAIL TO PUBLISH THIS’ at the top of a tedious thread about them moaning about their husband’s hobby (cycling) or their bridezilla Sister In Law.

This is one of my favourite tradesmen stories from MN from a thread where they all tried to outdo themselves over incidents where a tradesman dared to talk to the lady of the house instead of tugging their forelock. I think we can safely change the end line to ‘there is no way this encounter happened’. View attachment 865527

I think you've explained it better than I managed to! The mail has published two stories on my threads on MN so I do understand. So maybe I was thinking more about comments.

I got a comment in the DM once on a topless sunbathing thread.

It's annoynous so who gives a tit if it's in the paper. And if it's "outing" don't put it on an internet forum, or change the details a bit.

It's all the outing hobbies their husbands do that will absolutely reveal their identity that get me.

I mean the massively outing hobby is usually cycling, golf or football, but for some reason they think its unique to their husband.

Theyve never had a really unique hobby like collecting and preserving dead ladybirds.

They also don't want to reveal their careers as they often claim to be the only person in the UK doing that work and it would also out them 🤣

DM journalists can be incredibly lazy. If they are in need of a story they will sometimes turn to Mumsnet or Reddit.

I was going to say the same thing. The hobbies are always too secret - like cycling is outing. In many cases it’s hard to comment without knowing the hobby.

But I AM the only person in the whole of the UK doing my work, if I told you I'd probably have to kill you?! It's not top secret or involving people's lives, but there is only ME doing it. If Mr Jeaver had a hobby (apart from red wine and watching F1 and sometimes being incredibly irritating) I couldnt tell you that either :ROFLMAO:

I don't really get the outing thing. Who do they think are going to recognise them?
I’d it’s a really specific situation that’s never been posted before, I could understand it (although i don’t think there’s many of those on MN now). But it’s usually ‘DH does a hobby at the weekend…’

Oh no, User12678493! You’ve revealed too much! Best get the thread deleted! No other husbands in the U.K. do an unspecified ‘hobby’ at the weekend!

That reminds of the ‘what will happen if the Queen dies’ threads.

‘DH works in this department, and he knows that the Queen died 6 month ago and it’s going to be announced at 6.35pm tomorrow evening’

No he doesn’t, Sandra 🙄 Quit your bull.

Between us tho, I'd rather my fella actually did the ladybird preservation as opposed to the others. 🤣

It's when they try to be evasive but it's obvious what they're talking about that annoy me. I've seen it loads but can't remember any specific examples. It would be like them posting "We recently visited a capital city famous for its tall tower, baguettes and wine and we were shocked by xy and Z" Can't just say Paris??

They can't, it's too outing! Some of them won't even say exactly how many kids they've because it's outing... unless it's 15 or something, it isn't outing!

Are you the Queen?!

So, I'm having a situation and I dont know if I'm being aibu. My husband does his hobby twice a week then all day on a Saturday. (I can't possibly tell you as its massively outing to those who know us, I've also name changed for this post)

Anyway, this hobby means that each Saturday, I have to solo parent my child and take them to their weekend activity, which are excelling in and could potentially go really far with it (couldn't possibly tell you anymore about the child or sport as its massively outing) and I also have to do the shopping, clean the house, wash the curtains and take care of the family pet (cant tell you as its outing

Aibu unreasonable to order a takeaway on Saturday nights rather than a 5 course dinner?

Followed by responses which include her being abused, ensuring she gets equal time to do a hobby, asking if the child is his, telling her to put a stop to his hobby, a few guesses about said hobby then the poster caves a few posts later and admits that the husbands hobby is golf, her 15 year old son plays football and she has to take the dog to the groomers and no one is any wise as to who the duck she is or made the connection that they may know her in real life out of 67 billion people in the UK 🤣🤣

I’d it’s a really specific situation that’s never been posted before, I could understand it (although i don’t think there’s many of those on MN now). But it’s usually ‘DH does a hobby at the weekend…’

And anything to do with Covid, you can guarantee that every person who replies is medically qualified and single handedly ran the covid ward in their local hospital or they are trained and qualified in infectious diseases or has an inside line to number 10 and are absolutely adamant they wouldn't make anything up on the internet 🤣

I love the ones where ‘DH’ has come home at 3am, drunk as a Lord and the advise is to leave him with the children all day whilst you go off into town shopping and find a nice cafe to enjoy coffee and cake, all the while leaving your poor children with someone with a massive hangover! That’s if you haven’t already put all his belongings into bin bags, thrown them into the garden and changed the locks of the house he jointly owns….

Did any one catch the JL glitch thread this morning - it was in Christmas - so many people might have not seen it but basically there was a glitch with a promo code for YSL on the John Lewis website on Sunday afternoon. Instead of just knocking £20 off YSL perfumes the code was knocking £20 off every item in the basket!

Of course some of them went mad and filled their basket with items around the £20 mark as the error meant those items were free so really taking full advantage and also paid for next day delivery. A support thread was then set up because some felt guilty and others were wondering if they would get their items. One poster screenshotted that she added 70 odd items to her basket worth like £1300 but only paid £161!! Unbelievable.

of course they all turned on each other and questioned the morality of what they had done. Said poster who saved herself like 1200 quid was exposed as a charity CEO from her other posts! Proper LOL. Of course mumsnet have deleted it though, god help an actual debate is allowed to run.

Did the stuff actually arrive? Things like this always happen on mn where they share the glitches/errors but the stuff never arrives!

Then they will get orders cancelled & be in complete uproar about it 🙄 I remember about 10 years ago Argos cocked up the price on a really weird reclining chair, they all went nuts for it. Then Argos realised their error about selling an armchair for 0.50p & cancelled all the orders. 😆
