I started an AMA once and it descended into accusations of me owning an MLM type business, scamming people etc. because I wouldn’t say exactly what my business is

I contacted MMHQ and asked them to delete the whole thing. I was trying to show how not having a university education shouldn’t stop anyone from thinking they can be successful. I was so pissed off but MNHQ convinced me to leave the AMA up because the story itself was so inspiring.

The problem was that the forum is so full of Walter Mitty types that when a genuine success story with the clear steps showing how anyone can do it comes along, it’s labelled as scammy and nobody believes it. I even offered MNHQ to look at my company accounts to show that I am genuine but I gave up because the posters that were troll hunting were just a waste of time.

There‘s another one where a poster was apparently called a ‘Karen’ for stopping a random child running out of a shop. So obviously made up, yet it’s still there!

I have a look on there occasionally. Not a signed up member, but the place is absolutely bonkers. So much of it is obviously made up!

On a serious note though, I think there are lot of women on there who have serious issues with food! The competitive underrating that goes on is shocking!
I think there’s going to be a lot of kids of these freaks with eating disorders when they’re older!

I wonder how some of them actually manage to cross the road without asking for someone’s opinion. There’s one just now on AIBU not to go abroad to my friends wedding, I’m paying off a ton of debt, should I get a loan/credit card and just go? Really? Are you that stupid?? It’s infuriating!

i don’t like the term Karen but the women on MN go complete batshit crazy when someone mentions a scenario and uses the Label karen. No matter what the thread is about, it gets completely derailed and the topic becomes how the poster is BU for using that term

Lol. I remember a thread a couple of years back asking about recommendations for a girls holiday. The poster said what their budget was, where they had narrowed it down to, and was asking if anyone had stayed in a particular hotel.

The very first response was.- are you all 12?? You are women not girls 😂 far to many people on there have too much time on their hands😬

They sell themselves to advertiser's as having 10+ million users. But why the odd time I read it do you see the same names that seem to pop up on every thread being unpleasant 😴

I expect they don't have that many active users and loads of people have signed up for 100+ accounts over the years

If it wasn’t for Mumsnet I wouldn’t have found this site! I lurk there but I find it to be quite vicious!
Same, I had never heard of Tattle before someone on Mumsnet was posting about how dreadful it was and I then had a look out of curiosity 😄. Every time someone talks about it on there it must bring Tattle new traffic LOL

I think any threads that talk about tattle get deleted.

The last one I read was dripping with superiority and calling tattlers idiots as they themselves knew Instagram was full of undisclosed adverts and it was so obvious for anyone with a brain 🙄. As if all tattle boils down to "omg I can't believe someone is posting an ad"

Yet they can’t recognise half of the troll threads 😁

“Help, I’m down to my last £10, my twins are 6ft athletes and are wolfing down the contents of the fridge. I’m a size 8 and can manage with dust on a rice cake. My exH is a high earner but pays nothing, he had an affair and the OW has just parked her Mercedes in my drive blocking me in!”

I know this is a pisstake but made me laugh, can people please start print screening these posts?

I have absolutely no evidence of this but you know how you can spot the competitive mums who are mentally clocking up everything from how much your house to the buggy costs, how much you’re earning, how useful you are to them, etc etc? Often delusional about their own position in the world? Is mumsnet not just a nationalised version of this problem

The worst one I remember for this was when a young woman posted - totally upset, had a young baby with her boyfriend and she discovered he has been cheating. She said 'he has been sending loads of messages to this girl' and one of the first responses was 'he has been messaging an underage girl?'

Such a blatent deliberate faux misunderstanding to someone in turmoil. So awful!!

There's also been a lot of negative feedback from Airbnb owners threads recently. I didn't know that owners could give feedback about guests.

Like the “what have you eaten today” threads - never any snacks! Maybe I’m just a 🐷 🤣
In fact, look on any of the posts on there asking for help with weight loss/child’s diet/general healthy eating etc and you will be told that snacks are the devils work!

you forgot to mention that the husband met his side piece doing a hobby (too outing to name) and the woman has a ‘high pressure job’ looking after a team of 1000

They always have stressful jobs and are in charge of ‘a team’ and working ‘on a project’ in a ‘niche industry’ or they all travel for business. Does anyone ever just work in Poundland!?

Sometimes I think it’s no wonder their husbands have affairs and leave them for other women. They are obviously a nightmare to live with.
