Oh, I love it when people try to outdo each other when it comes to being cheap or not caring about things people usually care about. Weddings is another. They always start competing over who had the most low key wedding or cheapest ring.People would post saying they were upset their families hadn’t remembered their birthday or they’d only got a card from their husband and no gift and the replies would be trying to outdo themselves with how much they didn’t care about their own birthday.
Silly grovelling sycophantsThey love Any Fucker. She’s a rude, blunt, arsey twat but I think she gets away with it because she’s one of the well known ones. She had a thread during lockdown asking if it was ok to go to her holiday home because she was fed up. Anyone else would have got a pasting, but there were loads telling her it was ok because she’s AF and deserves a holiday because of all the good advice she’s given on MN.
They’re all wankers looking for an online scrap because I think a lot of them wouldn’t dare say boo to a goose in real life. I once had an argument with someone on there about how I could have prevented my daughter developing T1 diabetes. You can’t, and if you could or there’s any known advice, I would have followed it to the letter, but that poster was adamant that in my position, she would have done everything she could to stop her child getting it (but couldn’t actually tell me what that would be. Just that she would have done it).
Oh that will be the sekrit FB groups with the alerts. The same twats that do the ‘vair’ on threads and Reddit. FYI you are not funny.I also hate the term give yourself a shake on there.
I also hate the MN threads where they ask “What happened to this poster? And I haven’t heard from poster X for years? Then suddenly said posters appear (or name change/change from sock puppet account to the old one) and posters are falling over themselves to fawn over them.
love that one!Fun police alert! There is a thread in the AIBU section by a woman who is annoyed because her husband changed the letters on her “let it snow” sticker in her window to “melon tits”
Ooh this is such a helpful post. Sorry you had to go through that on MN. But your post has really correlated with some thing I’ve been thinking about my son. Very familiar issues. Thank you!HarryToby - you’ve just reminded me of the one time I was foolish enough to start an advice thread!
I remember posting about some concerns I had about my 6yo being unable to entertain herself at home. I was really perplexed by this, because no child I’d ever encountered before was so resistant to sitting down with a toy or a puzzle or some colouring pencils and just getting on with it. I wondered if anyone else had a child like this and what did they do about it?
Someone piped up: did I take her to the park often?
To this day I do not know why that question was relevant to my dilemma.
I replied no, not really. My then-toddler was a total disaster in parks and had to be closely followed to make sure he didn’t seriously injure himself falling off a slide/walking in front of swings etc. Which meant that my older child got neglected and would stand there screaming at me to push her on the swings when I physically couldn’t. I said I found it FAR too stressful and basically couldn’t supervise two kids at the park by myself.
I got slaughtered. A massive pile on started. Post after post berating me for not taking my kids to the park. What was wrong with me, making excuses like that? Did I need help with my anxiety issues or something? It’s no wonder my child couldn’t sit down and amuse herself with toys or crafts if I didn’t take her to play outside!
I was made to feel like the shittiest parent on the planet. They spotted a chink in my armour and just attacked. I changed my username and never went back to the thread. To this day I don’t even understand how taking my kids to the park was supposed to be the answer to all my problems.
And guess what? Both of my kids were diagnosed with autism several years later. The toddler with no sense of danger? Autistic. The 6yo who couldn’t play by herself? Autistic. I wasn’t a shit parent. It wasn’t my fault.
This one is hilarious..most of the replies are saying how immature and childish it is and how would be having serious words with DH if he thought that was amusing... they must all be a barrel of laughs at home. There is a thread in the AIBU section by a woman who is annoyed because her husband changed the letters on her “let it snow” sticker in her window to “melon tits”
There was a really weird thing on MN when I first joined about birthdays. People would post saying they were upset their families hadn’t remembered their birthday or they’d only got a card from their husband and no gift and the replies would be trying to outdo themselves with how much they didn’t care about their own birthday.
‘It’s just a birthday. Who cares? Wouldn’t bother me if no one remembered’
‘DH and the kids never get me a birthday present let alone a card. In fact, they want a present each on my birthday and I’m happy to oblige even though they don’t get me anything’
‘I haven’t celebrated my birthday in so long, I’ve forgotten how old I am. It’s just another day’
MN seems to think it’s a cut above all the other chat sites out there, but the reality is they’re all fucking insane.
And shock horror, they live opposite a SCHOOL!There is a thread in the AIBU section by a woman who is annoyed because her husband changed the letters on her “let it snow” sticker in her window to “melon tits”
Someone was like 'I'd be wondering if I ever really knew my husband at all'This one is hilarious..most of the replies are saying how immature and childish it is and how would be having serious words with DH if he thought that was amusing... they must all be a barrel of laughs at home.
Me and my hubby read that and were crying with laughter, and thought it was really funny he'd done it. They really do go out of their way to be joyless indignant old busibodies don't they?!?This one is hilarious..most of the replies are saying how immature and childish it is and how would be having serious words with DH if he thought that was amusing... they must all be a barrel of laughs at home.
I'm sorry for what you've been through.Plus the guaranteed 'Are you five years old, OP?'.
Well yes, yes I am. I grew up in an abusive household where birthdays weren't celebrated (apart from the main abuser, who always got expensive gifts to try and keep her on side). So somebody not bothering to get me a card and a present means I am instantly plummeted back into the feeling of being a small child wondering why I didn't get a little tea party, a pretty dress, cake with candles and a card with a pretty wrapped gift to unwrap when other children did - and being told it was because they weren't horrible children like me and then I was too old and laughed at for looking unhappy from the age of 8 'Oh, look, she's got a face on her because she thinks she should have got a birthday present like a little baby'.
I wouldn't post on one of those threads though, because I have no desire to be inundated with exactly the same sort of abuse I had for years. And no amount of therapy would change that (you know people would reply that I'd need psychiatric treatment) feeling - because it is a perfectly reasonable reaction to be sad at not feeling loved or valued.
Sorry to lower the tone, but it always amazes me how many of them claim to never fart in front of their ‘DH’. There are some who’ve been married for 20 plus years and have never farted in front of them. Do they have corks stuck up their backsides or something?
I mean if you can’t trump in your own home when can you? Everyone farts, it’s natural and normal.
Thats my fucking faveThey don’t have to LTB, they could book a spa date and dump the kids with him to get back at him!
Has anyone seen the thread on MN about someone wanting to make a Hinch hamper for their sister? Tattle gets a mention as ‘vile’, before the thread descends into posters calling each other wankers and cunts. The irony!
