I also hate the term give yourself a shake on there.

I also hate the MN threads where they ask “What happened to this poster? And I haven’t heard from poster X for years? Then suddenly said posters appear (or name change/change from sock puppet account to the old one) and posters are falling over themselves to fawn over them.

I posted an AIBU thread about awful service in a high end store. When they discovered I was 'only' spending £120 omg the shaaaaame! "Why would they bother about you, you're obviously a cheap skate, who only spends £120 on a 21st birthday present" etc etc etc. Fuckwits.

There was a really weird thing on MN when I first joined about birthdays. People would post saying they were upset their families hadn’t remembered their birthday or they’d only got a card from their husband and no gift and the replies would be trying to outdo themselves with how much they didn’t care about their own birthday.

‘It’s just a birthday. Who cares? Wouldn’t bother me if no one remembered’

‘DH and the kids never get me a birthday present let alone a card. In fact, they want a present each on my birthday and I’m happy to oblige even though they don’t get me anything’

‘I haven’t celebrated my birthday in so long, I’ve forgotten how old I am. It’s just another day’

MN seems to think it’s a cut above all the other chat sites out there, but the reality is they’re all fucking insane.

Oh, I love it when people try to outdo each other when it comes to being cheap or not caring about things people usually care about. Weddings is another. They always start competing over who had the most low key wedding or cheapest ring.

“We only had 30 guests and had the reception in our local pub. I can’t imagine spending loads of money on a wedding”.

“Well WE only had 15 guests and didn’t have a reception at all. We just had a meal in a restaurant and came home”.

“You had a meal in a restaurant? Hubby and I got married on a Tuesday morning, grabbed two witnesses off the street, then did our weekly shop in Lidl”.

Silly grovelling sycophants

Oh that will be the sekrit FB groups with the alerts. The same twats that do the ‘vair’ on threads and Reddit. FYI you are not funny.

There’s a thread right now about a lady who is about to lose a close family member and it’s titled about experiences when a loved one passed. There’s also another thread titled something like why do people say passed instead of dead and how they’re disgusted/offended etc about people who can’t say dead or died and how disgusting it is to say passed or passed away. Fucking vile. Surely people can use whatever words they like?!

Ooh this is such a helpful post. Sorry you had to go through that on MN. But your post has really correlated with some thing I’ve been thinking about my son. Very familiar issues. Thank you!

This one is hilarious..most of the replies are saying how immature and childish it is and how would be having serious words with DH if he thought that was amusing... they must all be a barrel of laughs at home.

Plus the guaranteed 'Are you five years old, OP?'.

Well yes, yes I am. I grew up in an abusive household where birthdays weren't celebrated (apart from the main abuser, who always got expensive gifts to try and keep her on side). So somebody not bothering to get me a card and a present means I am instantly plummeted back into the feeling of being a small child wondering why I didn't get a little tea party, a pretty dress, cake with candles and a card with a pretty wrapped gift to unwrap when other children did - and being told it was because they weren't horrible children like me and then I was too old and laughed at for looking unhappy from the age of 8 'Oh, look, she's got a face on her because she thinks she should have got a birthday present like a little baby'.

I wouldn't post on one of those threads though, because I have no desire to be inundated with exactly the same sort of abuse I had for years. And no amount of therapy would change that (you know people would reply that I'd need psychiatric treatment) feeling - because it is a perfectly reasonable reaction to be sad at not feeling loved or valued.

In the words of Helen Lovejoy, "Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?!"

Someone was like 'I'd be wondering if I ever really knew my husband at all'

Me and my hubby read that and were crying with laughter, and thought it was really funny he'd done it. They really do go out of their way to be joyless indignant old busibodies don't they?!?

I'm sorry for what you've been through.

It's the same on the adults who like Disney threads, no thought as to why adults might like disney just are you 5/it's creepy etc.

They’ve had the cheek to call us Tattlers cunts ! Someone pointed out that MN was much more vile . They are absolute fuckers over there that wouldn’t dare say to someone’s face what they say online. None of them like their husbands / wives partners going out for a pissup if they are out beyond 11pm or god forbid early hours said other halves are hand wringing , anxious , constantly phoning and texting and are nearly calling hospitals ffs
They are always saying how selfish the other one is and how they are parents now and shouldn’t be going out on the piss.

They don’t have to LTB, they could book a spa date and dump the kids with him to get back at him!
Thats my fucking fave "OH drinks a lot and never looks after the kids properly"
First reply "book a spa weekend and just go and let him wake up to the kids" hahahahaa

Has anyone seen the thread on MN about someone wanting to make a Hinch hamper for their sister? Tattle gets a mention as ‘vile’, before the thread descends into posters calling each other wankers and cunts. The irony!
