I see that turning up empty handed when you’ve just been to the shops is crass, but Ella’s kitchen are slightly responsible here - they should have set strict guidelines.

There was an increase in donations around the time Meldrum visited CFINE foodbank however given that they were promoted through local press at the same time and people are generally more giving at Christmas it couldn't be said just how much use their visit was for promotion.

She does nothing charitable unless it benefits her. She's proven it time and time again by the lack of effort over Sue Ryder run, Lee's Tough Mudder, foodbank, paltry giveaways, selling freebies etc.

Combine that with the disdain she treats followers who message at difficult times in their lives and it gives the image of a very self involved, selfish, ignorant woman.

I remember her mentioning the reverse advent calendar, too. I take it that never happened. She's so flaky. She'll say she's doing something, or interested in it and then it's never mentioned again. I'm sure everyone believed her before she started living her life online, but you can't really get away with it when share every detail about your life.

Ella's Kitchen donate to Fareshare already though, which is what she was paid to promote. She said at the time she wasn't paid to visit the foodbank as part of the partnership, she chose to do it. So it's not the responsibility of Ella's Kitchen to provide her with a donation, nor to tell her to take her own. If she can't see how wrong it is to turn up to a foodbank in association with a paid partnership empty handed, and then use the visit for content alongside footage of her eating in a nice restaurant right before she visited then it says more about her morals and values than Ella's Kitchen.
There just so happened to be local press there when she visited too, she went for the exposure, nothing more!

Big difference between doing it to feel good and doing it to profit from it.

The Meldrums do NOTHING for the benefit of others, only themselves

I’m confused: Ella’s kitchen didn’t ask her to go, she chose to go, but she was there as part of Ella’s kitchen who she did the ad for?

Oh man they really are sulking.
I can picture her, on the sofa, arms crossed, bottom lip out, ‘Oh Lee. Those 15 women have ruined it for me haven’t they Lee? We were living the dream in our new dungeon, being racist greedy fuckers, and those dicks have RUINED IT FOR ME LEE!!!’ *spontaneously combusts*

She CLAIMED she went of her own accord. She was paid to promote Ella's Kitchen's partnership with Fareshare, but not to specifically visit the foodbank.

She just so happened to arrange it the same time local press were also there, and has never visited before or since the advert.

Any person with a public platform is likely to profit when doing charity.

Do good, but keep continuing to do good. REBECCA should have followed this up with further visits / donations. I’m cross with Ella’s kitchen for lending their name to this.

Which sucks she never followed up, she didn’t capitalise on the opportunity for profiling the food bank. If she had, this thread might not exist!

Yes we a cynical bunch.
She's broken trust time and time again.
As far as I'm concerned ellas did play a part.
Why if she mentioned the brand and their scheme she can't even bother rehearse and memorise the figures when she's talking in the car with her baby food pouch when she has 18month old!
Ellas kitchen or arranged statement to the press and time when she would be visiting.

I disagree. Any normal person would have turned up with donations in hand. It’s the decent thing to do. How were they to know that they were dealing with someone who would have to be told it was the thing to do?!

But she’s still representing the brand - I know for fact they will have guidelines for charity involvement. How do we know she turned with nothing (I refuse to watch the blog she doesn’t need any more views!)

Regardless of whether she was paid or not paid to be there, you don't go to a food bank empty handed...it's the height of ignorance. Plus I couldn't see Ella's kitchen having any objections to her bringing food - she could have brought some of their pouches, meals, etc in addition to whatever she brought herself.

I think the food bank debacle was completely avoidable.

The Meldrums didn’t go to the food bank because they wanted to. They went only because they were being paid to. They didn’t go because they wanted to raise awareness, I doubt they were even aware of the place prior to the brief for the job coming through.

It was the entire execution of it that was just a royal duck up.

They filmed themselves enjoying a meal out at a restaurant and shopping in town in the hours before the visit to the foobank. Like seriously, who in their right mind thinks that is appropriate? It’s unbelievably insensitive. They clearly hadn’t done a single bit of actual research into what the food bank does, who it serves because they don’t care a damn. They went in to it utterly blind. It’s another example of lazy, thoughtless content.
They didn’t even think that perhaps it would be a good idea to take along a donation on their visit. I’m sorry but how on Earth can two adults be so blinkered?
Ella’s Kitchen shouldn’t have to spoon feed them and prompt them to take a donation, anyone with any sense would do this willingly and automatically.
Being paid for the visit is just as low as hell, particularly during the festive period.
The whole thing was yet again a complete bleeping disaster because they haven’t got a clue what’s going on in the real world.

content and ads go hand in hand I get that but when the ads become your content it’s too much, I have friends in Scotland and they only get letters of attendance when the kids fall below 85% her kids must be under that

She has a paid partnership with Ella's kitchen and clearly the food bank knew this when she visited. If both Ella's kitchen and the food bank wanted extra exposure via Meldrums I don't see this is as a bad thing. Yes she got paid, but do we know that she got SPECIFICALLY got paid for the visit or was it part of the payment she received for the partnership? What is Ella's kitchen ongoing involvement with the food bank? However, \I agree, she could have turned up with a donation or made a public statement that she donated part of her fee (however small) but the exposure she gave the food bank is not bad a thing. Do we know how many extra donations her visit bought in?
Here are the facts. She did get paid.she didn't do it as a stand alone video. She went shopping and drinking coffee after the visit.she turned up with NOTHING.She has never been back or mentioned the place again. You could see she was very uncomfortable and wanted it over as quick as possible. So the exposure she gave the food bank was worthless.

I can kind of excuse her showing up at the food bank empty handed....We all have a lot on our minds and sometimes you just don't think!But...and it's a big but...surely the minute you got there you would realise your mistake and be mortified...apologise profusely and return later that day with a trolley load of food!!

Also...spare a thought for the person who worked/volunteered at the food bank who had to take time out of their really busy day to escort the pair of them around!

I agree the execution was poor, but again, without watching, we don't know that they didn't donate, or possibly they did without filming it (Wonders many never cease!)

But the point is the brand of Ella's kitchen is also tarnished here in my eyes too, and no they shouldn't spoon feed, but anyone acting on behalf of them in some sort of ambassadorial / partnership role should adhere to charity guidelines. I cannot believe anyone from Ella's signed this off without thinking of the repercussions.

I was unaware of the foodbank incident until I read about it on Tattle as I don’t follow her on YouTube. I purposely avoided buying some Ella’s Kitchen pouches the other day and went for another brand of pouches instead due to their association with her.
