Two more likely options:

A) Purchased via online order. If so, how dare they take up a slot that somebody more in need could have.
B) It’s not from Morrison’s, it’s more likely the sort of tat purchased at B&M/eBay.

No way of checking as you get put in a queue for Morrison’s website atm and for one am not making it any more difficult for people who actually NEED an online delivery rn!

In my local Aldi they were selling rattan furniture and people were buying them. Staff were taking them out to cars on a Jack thing and then customers loading it into their car and then the staff coming back in.
I was quite jealous as mine is battered and I could of done with one but they were sold out.

We sometimes help customers with the bulkier stuff like garden table sets but a bench will be one box and fit in a trolley on its end so he may not have needed help.

I get that if he’s out for essentials anyway there’s no problems with him buying a bench but we’d like customers to be in and out as quickly as possible. There are others standing in a massive queue outside patiently waiting to get in while he browses the seasonal aisle.

Wow what a dick. I’ve been refraining from ordering cheap, foldable garden chairs as we don’t have anything to sit on outside. I have to struggle up and down off the floor if I want to spend time out there and I’m 37 weeks pg with a 7lb 6oz baby. I’m self-isolating with my family at the minute but will be back next week. It is incredibly infuriating working there and witnessing customers coming in for non-essentials. I think a lot of people would be surprised but how many, elderly especially, are keeping to their normal routine. We’re seeing a lot of it and customers buying benches definitely fit into the category.

Benches are not essential. Especially when you already have a garden full of furniture. It would’ve been the Maldon store and they know them well up there so they will know how much furniture they have already.

I don't think people should get angry at buying non-essentials, it's non essential trips that are the problem. If I went to Morrison's for my food shopping and saw a bench I wanted and could afford I'd throw it in the trolley. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I bought a cheesecake from Aldi the other day.

What is annoying is the blatant bullshit that vest went shopping alone for essentials and thought you know what Soph would like this bench I'll pick it up whilst I'm here

Completely agree with this, it’s the blatant bullshit and as someone else said if her sheep now go out specifically for this on a non-essential trip this can cause the stores problems/put unnecessary strain on them. And I so wish there was an eye roll ‘like’ option!
