Morning sickness

Does anyone have any remedies that actually work for morning sickness?

I'm not even being sick I'm just constantly nauseous 🤢 eating helps for about twenty minutes then I'm back to feeling like I want to spew (wish I could and I'd maybe get some relief 😭)

I also can't eat wheat and I'm having trouble getting hold of gluten free ginger biscuits at any of the shops near me 🙄

Anyone have any other suggestions? At my wit's end 😔

A thick milkshake- that’s what I survived on and McDonalds fries.

Try the sea sickness pressure bands you get from the chemist that you wear around your wrists. Instead of ginger biscuits could you try candied ginger/crystallised ginger?

I used to eat mints and suck on lemon flavoured hard boiled sweets, didn't take away the nausea completely but it helped take the edge off

Travel sickness bands and sucking boiled sweets helped me the first time I was pregnant.

I found sucking on something salty like a peanut or a crisp helped the nausea a bit.

Hi. I am almost 19 weeks and have had severe nausea since 4 weeks. I also had in in my last pregnancy until 28 weeks (but almost none the two before that)

Home remedies which help me are sucking hard sweets (I like pear drops or rhubarb and custard), fizzy drinks, fizzy sweets, salt and vinegar crisps and chewing gum. The gum has been a game changer this time.

None of the travel bands, ginger biscuits etc work for me. It’s just luck I find a few things that help me feel better for 10 minutes.

But honestly, I couldn’t survive without the medication I’m on. I waited until 13 weeks last time, this time started at 8 weeks as I knew it would be bad. I take cyclezine which helps take the edge off so I can function.

I found apples really helped me and had a spray from expert midwifes that helped. I feel for you it’s horrible :(

Hi, I can totally relate to how your feeling! I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant, and up until last week I was being sick EVERYDAY from 5 weeks!
I tried sickness bands, ginger biscuits, ginger tea, boiled sweets, peppermints (polos) eating little and often.
Tbh none of it worked for me. But I would recommend trying them cause they may work for you!

as for medication, I tried cyclizine to start with and it didn’t work. I hoped that it would go on its own eventually but as I’d been signed off sick for 3
Months I thought it was about time I finally got some help so I could get back to work and feel abit human again.
I spoke to my doctor and she gave me some promethazine in a high dose and I can honestly say they’ve helped me no end, i feel LOADS better and haven’t been sick for 8 days now! I actually celebrated 🥰🤣

I may sound abit dramatic but it was the hardest time of my life, I was barely functioning most days, I carried my sickbowl to every room in the house! Whenever I asked any professional for tips they’d just say ‘that’s good, it means the baby is healthy’
Which is great, but can’t be good if his mother is barely eating, moving or sleeping.

Btw. I had NO relief from if I was sick, literally 2 mins later I’d be nauseous again and being sick!
just know you’re not alone and it doesn’t last forever! Try and focus on the end result 👶🏼👶🏼

I feel for you.

I am also suffering SO bad. I’ve been in hospital twice and they told me I have HG.

Its bleeping grim. And I have a 24/7 taste in my mouth that tastes like a hamster has done a poo in there. No amount of mouth washing, sipping water gets rid of this taste

My nausea is from the second I wake up in the morning and I’ve lost over a stone.

For me, sea sick bands did sod all, as did the anti sickness pills so I stopped taking them. And (could be hormonal), but I am ready to slap the next person who says “have a ginger biscuit they help!”, nah Karen they don’t!😂😡

Hang in there we’ve got this xx

See a doctor and don’t let them fob you off, the nausea can be as debilitating as actual vomiting. All of the usual remedies, ginger, travel bands etc didn’t work for me but medication did (I was prescribed cyclezine). Try and get as much sleep as you can and stay hydrated to the best that you can.

@swimming @Hairraiser sorry you have both been suffering so badly as well. Luckily (if it is that?!) mine is just nausea and I haven’t had to deal with the constant vomiting, I imagine that just adds such an extra layer of exhaustion on top of it all.

@Chickenandgravy I also find mine is worse when I’m tired. So until about 12 weeks I basically slept any time I could. Going to bed with the kids at 7, afternoon nap with the toddler, just anything to sleep as that was the only time I felt better, and I felt slightly less awful when not so tired.

Ohh noo I really feel for you, it’s horrendous!
The thing that I found was the more tired I was the worse it was, and in the end I couldn’t even keep water down.
So just plain old ice pops to keep hydrated and mini cheddars i lived on for a good few weeks.
hope you feel a little better fast!

Acupuncture helped me in my first pregnancy - I would be able to eat for the rest of the day after having it so it was more a short-term than a long-term fix but was lovely to be able to eat for a bit!

Any luck feeling better this afternoon?
No 😭 couldn't face dinner again but got an absolute hankering for ambrosia rice so I'm going to see if I can at least eat that 🙄 not sure how I'm going to get through work this week 🤢 (haven't told anyone as I'm only 6 weeks too)

Awww hun, I feel your pain. I’m 9 weeks and I’m struggling with it too. I keep having ice lollies and rich tea biscuits. I also noticed like someone else said that when I’m tired it comes on worse.
Iv lost so much weight because I’m not eating properly 🤢🤢😞😞🙈🙈 I was probably slightly worse at 6 weeks: let’s hope it eases abit for you too hun. Xxxx 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I found haribos tangfastics really helped me. The sour sweets used to take the feeling away for a bit. Sleep like others have said really made a difference too. I hope it eases for you soon.

Yeah it probably doesn't help I've come off a nighshift this week so my sleeping pattern is out of whack as it is 😂 I've got some ice lollies so will give them a try too!
Oh I so hope it does ease off 🤞 the people that know have all said "oh it's a good thing to have sickness and nausea" but I really don't feel it at the minute 😂
