My midwife told me at 12 weeks that the multivitamins do often make feel sick. Apparently the very high levels of some of the vitamins (I have conveniently forgotten which ones 🙄 maybe zinc and magnesium?) can often contribute to sickness.
I experience the same thing taking the Pregnacare ones 🤢🤢

I'm glad it's not just me, totally overpriced too! I'm taking these ones at the moment and they're ok for me.

Has anyone else had their 16-18 week midwife appointment cancelled because of covid? I've only had my 12 week scan and my next appointments inc gender scan are at 21 weeks later this month, makes me a bit nervous that things are so far apart without any checks!

Have they not moved it to a phone call instead? In my area you see a midwife after your phone call booking in appt just to take bloods then you don’t see anyone (besides the sonographer at scans) until 28 weeks but get two phone calls instead.
This is their revised care schedule, just my hospital obvs but as a guide. You have to call them to book if they don’t call you.

I'm a good while off that but I got a text this morning saying that they are only doing 12 + 20 week scans in my health board but that partners can come to both. If that's the case and I don't get one at 18 I'll maybe go private in the middle of that time, there's a place just down the road for me and it's £50 which is maybe worth if for peace of mind...maybe you could look into something like that?

Yeah I took pregnacare when I was TTC and it made my period late by a week so now just take boots combined vit d and folic. Much cheaper too l.

I haven’t had my 12 week scan yet but no one seems to send me any info at all. I take it my partner can’t go in with me? There doesn’t seem to be much communication at all.
I’m so sorry that yours has been cancelled hun. I totally get why you feel nervous xx

Depending on where you are they can...I'm Glasgow and they are letting you. They've let my partner into all my early scans no problem too. Maybe call the hospital and ask?

Wouldn’t you usually only get 2 scan at these times anyway? Dating at 12-14 then anomaly at approx 20?

Yeh I think I will do that, they haven’t been that helpful if I’m honest not even given me a contact number. I was hoping if all goes well at my 12 week scan then they may be abit more bothered.

Where I am your partner can attend the 12 and 20 week scans.

I am 19 weeks and my appointments so far:

•12 week dating scan and booking appt
•16 week hospital appt (scan, blood pressure, urine)
•18 week midwife appt (or should have been but I never got round to booking it, I’m going at 21 weeks instead 🙊)
•18 week hospital appt (anomaly scan done early “due to covid”)

I am shared care between hospital and midwife. I’m not high risk, it’s just the way it’s done in my area.

Not on the NHS. Look up the antenatal appointment schedule on the NHS website. Our area 16 & 25 week appts are now phone calls and the booking appt is mostly done over the phone too. You also get fewer face to face appts at the end of the pregnancy.

Have you had your booking appointment yet? Or received your maternity notes? there’s a schedule in there too. I believe that the doctors and the maternity service so you have to self-refer and book your ‘booking appointment’ - you have to be pretty proactive at booking everything yourself unless they book your next contact while on your last. They don’t really do anything for you as some women refuse it or people suffer loss and it doesn’t get communicated etc.

That’s the standard NHS England schedule, the hand written bits are what they’ve changed for covid in my area.

Have a look on FB see if there’s any groups for your local maternity service or Mums expecting at your chosen hospital.

I rang last week and they said they'd put a phone appointment in. Didn't hear anything, rang again to check and another midwife just said they're all cancelled and the next time I see/speak to someone is at 21 weeks (would have been week 20 but that's Christmas). It's my first, so no idea what I'm meant to be doing. 🤷‍♀️ I might ring them again tomorrow to triple check!

I was thinking private too, they seem to be a similar price around here, so not bad! I really wanted to know the gender and see if everything is ok before Christmas as that's when I'm planning on telling family!

My partner was luckily allowed in with me at 12 weeks, but I got a letter a while back saying he's not allowed in for the anomaly scan. :( Hopefully that might change by the time of the scan, I'll bring him along anyway and he'll have to wait outside if not. I feel you on the lack of communication!! ❤

Oh mine's a physical booklet with handwritten notes. See if your local hospital website has maternity pages.
I understand your frustration, I've been more than, frankly, totally ducked off with the level of care I've received - it seems to be getting better now I see them in person and tbf I was surprised to hear stuff I thought I was missing due to Covid like anti-natal classes were cut before that due to funding (the online course they've created in my area is an absolute joke, it's truly embarrassing. How the duck watching interviews with 2 week old new parents tells me anything I'd love to know!). I don't know if I feel a bit hard done by being an older mum, waiting all this time then when it's my turn I feel like I'm getting screwed over. Still, that attitude isn't going to help me so I've just decided to be as proactive as I can. It's all i can do really to not get more stressed.
Good luck with getting somewhere with it all xx

Oh hun, it sounds like you’ve had a rough ride. I totally get you though, it’s a time you want help and support like everyone else has had and then when it’s your turn you experience is different. I’m in a similar situation, I’m an older first time mum with a heart condition, and it’s very daunting and overwhelming. Everything is unknown and you just want tour fears to be heard and some support. I can’t believe they made you watch a video of that! That’s just ludicrous- ever likely you are angry. I hope you start to feel abit better about things. I’m always here if you need to chat.
You’re allowed to feel these things hun because you care and you deserve to have the same level of treatment that other mums have had.
Much love xxx

Holy moly, that must have been a shock! And an emotional appointment. Fingers crossed when you go back you have two healthily hearts beating in there.

Just a bit! My partner's face was a picture 😂 the sonographer did say it could go either way so I'm not getting too excited right now but fingers crossed 🤞

@Chickenandgravy how are you? Has your hubby got over the shock yet?! Let us know how the other scan goes x
Yesterday and today have been particularly bad. Got some of those anti sickness pills off the Dr but I'm so reluctant to take them as he said they're safe but not 100% and probably won't help much with the nausea feeling 🙄

He's still panicking (he already has two kids from a previous relationship 😂) he's told me I've to trade my car in for a 6 seater cos he likes his too much 😂

I will keep you guys updated as soon as I've had it!
