The information is really conflicting at the moment. They are showing pics of big boils but apparently it's a different strain that causes smaller spots.

They're saying STI but then this morning that it spreads through the spots and through saliva and breath (wait for more mask mandates then)

They're saying it's mild but then harping on about vax and isolation.

A guy this morning said it's similar to chicken pox. So why the big hoo ha. Why can't people just be I'll anymore

yeh because you’re reading the DM! Not exactly known for its measured and reasonable approach to stories!

overall though the coverage of it is pretty exhausting. I’m so sick of the MSM in this country. Journalism used to be respected and prestigious (mostly), now most journalists seem to spend their time staring pile ons on Twitter.
Trust me I’m not reading the DM 😂😂 someone else did and screenshotted it and it caught my eye on Twitter. To be fair though all the papers and news outlets are saying similar things. Lots of scaremongering, just read one blaming meat eater for monkey pox 😂 I don’t trust any of the MSM. Anyone that does after the covid coverage doesn’t get any respect from me😬

That statement could cause WW3 on certain threads 😂…I wonder how many free beds they have in NI 🙄🍌
Hopefully the monkeypox won’t make it through our robust and secure borders and ni protocols 😂😂😂

We could do with a flipping break, but noooooo.
I do wonder if the news are being over the top reporting it though.

Sure I heard a news article say it's spread by gay sex. If this is true then why isn't this being made clear? Or is it? I don't seek news so not sure how it's being reported on.
Apparently this new stain is spreading amongst children so I’d hope that’s not the case 😟

The previous cdc director before Walensky ,predicted it would be bird flu.
Our money was on bird flu

My anxiety and overthinking cannot cope with something like this again. Probably a stupid question but realistically how much do I need to panic?? 🙁

The amount of reports on this monkey business is getting a bit carried away for the tiny amount of confirmed cases. Would anyone seriously get the smallpox vaccine or lockdown or isolate for 3 weeks all over a mild illness?!

We’ll be clapping on the doors by next Thursday! Don’t forget to have your rainbow paintings ready

The idea that viruses can be stopped in their tracks is simply not true. You cannot contain a virus. If a virus wants to spread it will find a way to do that. Isolating should be an individual choice not an automatic response. If you’re sick worry about it then, if you’re not then get on with your life we’ve all been robbed of a few years let’s not allow that to happen ever again.

Why does UK always get so many cases of these viruses and diseases? Covid, we get it bad, monkeypox, we seem to have more cases than most - again!
I don’t think we get more cases, but one of the vanishingly few things we do well in the UK is track and report diseases. We probably have no more cases than other countries but we’re just picking them up more efficiently.

It is strange especially as the UK seems to be more affected than the rest of the western countries yet had the flimsiest lockdown 🤷🏼‍♀️
Something definitely not right about it! Because you’d think it it is spread so easily at these big events too then why’ve we not seen that happen before like it is now or is it a case of we’re only reporting it now because of the coverage covid got it’s more likely to get views/sell papers.

If it was a Chinese style lockdown ,maybe ? but people were pretty much still mixing behind closed doors , the rate of viral illnesses were still pretty high except for flu . What food do Africa ship to the EU ? A patient zero is a possibility if they were at a superspreader event like the pride festival where people had travelled from all over ,then carry it back to their own countries .
Africa supplies lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to the EU and to the U.K. from Brexit the U.K has imported more from Africa than ever before.
