Interesting to see the Daily Mail still have a large piece stating he has been questioned for hours on their website despite Dan denying it. Whatever you say about that paper it knows the law inside out so knows what it’s doing.

I thought that. MailOnline are also reknowned for changing the headline on an existing story as well.

The fact that they have left their story up and still on the main page (not buried in the side bar or right down the bottom) into a second day, and with the same "questioned for hours" headline, speaks volumes I think about who's telling the truth here.

I think DM & other media often assist police to wind a POI (unofficial) up.

It's a frequent cop tactic. Chris McDonough is doing it a ton lately using social media and he's a pro.

I've often thought that if there was foul play be a third party, she still might have died by falling. Being intimidated close to an edge - being pushed close to an edge. If there was foul play involved, we may never know because she died due to the fall. If an intense argument occurred in the mountains and just for a second you exploded and wished a person harm, you wouldn't need to physically harm them - you could go for them and make them fall somehow. There need be no sign or an argument etc. I do believe there was an explosive relationship going on here and it certainly wasn't idyllic. I believe , from what Laura reported, that there had been a breakup of some sorts and Esther had left and gone off to hike.. on her own. DC expected her to return but she kept on prolonging the trip until it reached a very heated point.

The mountain experts tied themselves up in knots for months trying to figure out why she'd go that way (wrong route) and (misdirectedly) where she could be.

Why would it hurt someone who was secure in their relationship people saying she had left him. People in secure relationships wouldnt be upset by that because they would know it wouldnt be true. I definately think this was a make or break hike and she wad leaning towards break. Perhaps due to the longevity of their relationship and his personal issues if he felt if she left he would have no one else. Sad but people do believe these things

Yes I agree definitely a very nasty side to their relationship, due to DC's narc psycho rage which no doubt would have loved intimidating her. In my opinion she did display lots of signs of having been abused by him, treading on eggshells to try to not set him off, calling him hero all the time, must please his ridiculous ego...

And a mountain comes with it's own "weapons", rocks. He would have hit her on the head from behind, and when sure she was dead pushed her off.

I am on quite a few other threads and comment on them. Sorry if its aimed at me,been following this story from the start. Wanted to wait for her to be found before commenting.

Personal Statement by Esther’s Partner, Dan Colegate

Esther is simply the best person I’ve ever met. She is kind, generous, compassionate, intelligent and creative. She wears her heart on her sleeve and always sees the best in others.

There is a reason Esther has a first class Oxford degree and represented Great Britain as a junior rower, among her many other material achievements that came from her determination and resourcefulness. Yet none of those achievements are the reason I love her so much. The real reason, the one that drew me in almost 19 years ago and sustained us both through the ups and downs of any normal relationship, is her unwavering goodness and commitment to doing what she feels is right.

It is true that once Esther sets her mind to a goal she will move mountains to make it happen, but that has always remained secondary to her commitment to helping those in need and leaving the world she touches a better place. We can never finish a hike without her pockets bulging with litter she’s picked up, she won’t pass a stranger without smiling, and every decision Esther makes is governed by a powerful moral code.

Since Esther went missing I have been lost in a world that no longer makes sense to me. Every aspect of my life and the future I dream of includes Esther. We have built a life that focuses on being a team, where ‘home’ is wherever we are together, and where nothing matters as long as we have each other. Spending occasional times apart, to pursue separate goals, recharge and intensify the pleasure of being together, is part of that for us. Seeing Esther happy in the mountains, expanding her boundaries and discovering more about herself makes me happier than I can describe.

I never imagined that one day she would not come home. Many times we had discussed how we would grow old together and take slow walks reflecting on the adventures of our youth. The pain of her disappearance is excruciating, but even that pales into insignificance against the pain of not knowing what’s happened to her. It’s crippling. The nightmares. The constant questioning. The helplessness.

Until Esther is found I have to continue to hold on to the hope that she can come home safely.

If anybody has any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, or if they know anybody who was in the area at the time, who may have been working outdoors, hunting, walking, hiking or cycling, please, please contact the LBT Global Hotline. To me it reads as his truth, the whole thing. Each chapter represents something significant, it can be translated thanks to his obsessively organised mind. But yes that boundaries part is the worst. Also how he hopes she comes back safely, as in not alive but safely for him.
