Plenty of people to be honest.

I know of families/couples who have done exactly what the Mc Canns do on holiday
I know, I don't doubt it, I just personally can't get my head round it. I'm not saying locking the door makes it any better, it doesn't, but come on. Leaving it unlocked when there is a wee girl who you know wakes during the night that could open it and wander off/fall in the pool/get knocked down etc etc of endless horrible scenarios. Madness.

It was said a blonde child same age etc was there but it could have been any child from the group and the staff were made to think it was her. Yes she was signed in but no proof it was actually her.
MM was in the children's club on the day she disappeared and her parents were out having dinner with friends, in public, when she disappeared.

It seems like people aren't happy with this - 'she must have had an accident earlier and the parents concealed evidence', 'their friends must be in on it', 'it's a coverup, they have friends in high places' - if there was evidence CB abducted and/or killed MM there would still be people saying the parents are guilty/evidence is planted etc 🤷‍♀️

Well then we can agree to disagree 🙄

I’m in the middle.

I don’t think anything happened before that night or it was pre-planned, but I do think it was sedation gone wrong. Either because she stopped breathing in her sleep, or because she fell and hit her head.

The CB thing has been bubbling away for ages now and there doesn’t seem to be any plan to charge him.

Bib : is there any reason you think this? All I know about is some blood samples that have not been matched to MM and that there is zero evidence of MM being sedated.
I agree GM is an unlikable, confrontational character but that doesn't mean he has covered up any evidence. MM paid the ultimate price for the parents neglect but I just don't see any indication they were responsible of anything more than leaving MM and the twins alone. I don't see any signs that they concealed her death or hid her body🤷‍♀️

Who leaves three kids alone in an apartment with unlocked doors to go out eating and drinking, never mind a wee girl that was crying the night before because she woke up and no one was there! I know this has been said a million times but as a parent I can't and will never get my head round this. They knew that wee girl could wake up again, alone, in a strange country, in an unlocked apartment and they still left her????

Also the fact that Kate's first though was that she was taken. I don't know how to word this but to me, if your first though is that she was taken, then it must have been something that has at least crossed your mind when leaving your children alone in an unlocked apartment, that this, no matter how unlikely, could be possibility. So no matter how fleeting the thought or how unlikely she thought it was, she still left those three kids there having at least acknowledged that this could possibly happen. Otherwise why would your first though not be that she wandered off, or could still be in the apartment somewhere. You would turn it upside down looking for her or run along the halls, look around the pool etc, not run straight back to restaurant and say 'they've taken her'. I guess what I'm trying to say is, she either left those kids there while she knew fine well they were vulnerable and accessible to any weirdo creeping about, but didn't give a damn because she'd rather go out or there is something more sinister to the story.
Totally agree. Lovely little girl like madeleine, a daughter is your best friend I’d be with her all the time.. Sod the friends

How can that be - MM was at the children's club on the day she disappeared so she couldn't have accidentally died days earlier and her parents hid the evidence
When one of the kids in their group was near identical and the signatures for the crèche are all over the place, easily.

They were a match, enough to be charged with, by Portuguese rules but the uk required more iirc.
---
In this case, they could extract only 15 - but all of the 15 exactly matched Madeline's DNA.

Why have the family not taken up the offer to retest the dna I wonder 🤔🤔🤔

Yes, I did. I am focusing on the golf club aspect and asking how it is relevant?
Everything is relevant

How do you get the Brent Stellander book in English?
I bought my copy from Bertrand if you google this along with his name and book title you should find the link, you'll see the book with the Portuguese title if you scroll down it shows you the English title click on this, I ordered via my lap top and used google translate to allow me to order it,
---
Yes I think you might if you needed space to get texts\calls from people with information

Leaving out the important fact that they matched Madeleine but were not unique to her. The DNA analysis was inconclusive at best

Do you not understand how it works? Exact match is what they found in the 15.
.
I don’t think you do?

pretty much any news report other than the one you selected states the same.

I used a post giving scientific facts about the sharing of dna with siblings that explains it - and nothing to do with Madeleine so no agenda and you posted a newspaper article.

Your link has nothing to do with low copy number DNA testing it’s talking about commercial DNA testing kits.

we disagree let’s just leave it at that.

Before I had kids I felt sorry for Kate and Gerry and just assumed leaving kids to go and have dinner was what parents do! Now I have my own kids it seems beyond belief that they would leave such young children alone - there is all manner of harm they could come to of their own doing (unless they were sedated I guess!!) Just the thought of my 6 yo daughter waking up in a weird place crying for me is intolerable, let alone leaving her to be abducted! I wouldn't even like to leave them with a babysitter abroad, obviously it's better than leaving them alone though!

My sister lost her 4 year old son in Disneyland Paris about 14 years back, he just disappered - the police were on scene immediately and were insisting another man had come into the country with her and my Mum and would not hear otherwise! Thankfully they found my nephew an hour later curled up under a shelf in the shop they'd lost him in, asleep but it's interesting that the police were so fixated on an untruth during such a vital time! I'm not sure I'd ever recover from that scary experience, my Mum did say that her and my sister were deathly calm for the whole hour he was missing and looking back she doesn't know how! Perhaps they refused to let themself think that the worst had happened and wanted to keep it together to improve their chances of getting him back!

I honestly don't know how Maddie's parents live with any of it. I do think they possibly sedated the kids and tried to cover up things that would make them look bad. I also think they were the sort of people who had kids because that's what people do but didn't want them to impinge on their lives.

I wonder if when the twins have their own kids they will realise how sad it was that their parents didn't want a family holiday they could all enjoy together.

I dont know how they live with it either. I would be tormented every second of my life. It’s also surprising they stayed together. The stats show most couples who loose a child (even by accident/natural causes) split up within 5 years and this was on another level altogether.

That also says something to me as I had thought the same thing that perhaps they stayed together to show a united front?

what is portrayed in public maybe a different matter in private, two of Gerry's sister's are now divorced, Madeleine's disappearance has possibly had an impact on both their marriages

BIB - And why is it a decision for the family?

It's a police case, the retesting of DNA should be done as a matter of course.

the Portuguese Police sent the samples found in the apartment and car to the Forensic Science Service in the UK to be analysed in hindsight this was probably their biggest mistake especially after the preliminary results were disclosed to them which were different a few days later
