Gerry is so unattractive and evil looking, he just comes across so cold and unlikeable!
And he has said so many odd things.

Eg “After about 5 or 6 weeks, things were going really very very quiet and I was actually quite glad of that and I thought we’d start to get back to a sort of more normal existence”

There’s more in this clip - that the long term focus for them was raising awareness of the political issues.

What the hell is he on about political issues?! Was the whole thing not about finding his ‘’missing’’ daughter?!

But if the whole motive for lying is that she died accidentally and they don’t want to be held responsible then it would have been much, much easier to say she had the accident when they were there.
Not if she’d been sedated / accidentally overdosed by her parents (not saying this is definitely what happened, but it would be a reason for them not to admit to it)

There’s also a point that was raised (on fb) about potential abuse being discovered at an autopsy.

I think we are all focused on what evidence there is.

I think the truth of what happened lies somewhere between what's been said and what we are being told to focus on and what's not been discussed. As in all the pieces of the puzzle of leaving the children alone, children going to kids clubs etc...focuses us on putting 2+2 and coming up with oh this must have happened. (Abduction)

When I think its those bits in the middle that we don't discuss or have any focus on actually that should be questioned.

One thing always struck me as odd is a few years ago crimewatch did a new appeal. The McCanns were interviewed. To me it felt like they were under the spotlight. Towards the end the mum was asked what would you say out there to appeal to anyone that knows anything of what happened to Madeleine. And her mum looked at the camera and said something along the lines of if you know anything please get intouch to help us solve this CASE.

She referred to the situation as a CASE. Not a desperate mother wanting her daughter...

Odd choice of words I thought.

The cadvadar smell in the car, the local priest that the mum had been to see that moved and refuses to talk about it, the broken shutters... something doesn't add up.

The answer is hidden in plain sight I think.

For me it's not about how he looks but that everything about him just screams out cold hearted b to the point he might as well be yelling it through a megaphone. I rarely find people as viscerally off-putting as I do him.

Kate doesn't give me that so much but I do think she's shifty as duck and very weird in her own way (going on about Maddie's "perfect little genetials" in her book... yes she'd be speaking from the point of view of a doctor but still, what!)

I can’t think of a single reason for the McCanns to delete phone records in the lead up to 3rd May that does not implicate them in some way.

"Everything else has been 'whoosh-clunked' from memory. These deletions could have been accidental, but a high degree of cunning could be implied. Why would she selectively delete everything up to Thursday 3rd May 2007 with the exception of one wrong number and what was her reason for deleting three of the four calls, between 23.14 and 23.17, from her husband on that critical night'."

they have no connections? do we really know that Gerry was seemingly a member of Rothley Golf Club there was someone from the same golf club who had worked in one close to PDL
Isn't this a bit of a reach?
Someone worked in a golf club in the UK and also one in PDL? What relevance does this really have?

Things like the deleted phone records make them look guilty. However, entirely possible that they were deleted because one or both of them was having an affair and didn’t want this to come to light during the investigation. They lied and covered things up for sure (in my opinion, based on the inform in the police files), but whether that’s because they covered up their daughter’s death or simply because they wanted to hide unrelated shady activity is unclear.

There’s a new book out in Portugal written by a man who claims (from what I can work out) to know where M is buried and recorded footage of the parents coming and going - I haven’t read the book so please correct me if I’m wrong - that’s what I have surmised from what has been said online. This is not Gonçalo Amaral’s book - it is a different person and only came out last month. But my question about that is how can she be ‘buried’ anywhere? Even if she died a day or days before the 3rd May (which, if she did die accidentally, I suspect would have been the case), how would tourists dig a bloody great hole large enough to bury a child? Where would you even get a spade from? In dry conditions with rock hard earth and nobody seeing you?

Does no one remember what phones were like back then? Didn’t you have to delete your received/outgoing calls because it got full and it couldn’t store anymore. Maybe that was before 2007 but this definitely was a thing.

I have ordered the book and waiting on it being delivered, from using the diagrams Bernt Stellander used at his press conference at the launch of his book The Sudden Impulse and looking at google earth surrounding the Rocha Negra area you can work out the various spots of interest he is looking at,there are a couple of properties between the areas of interest that weren't there in 2007 both were on land of which housed disused old buildings (one of them was being demolished in June 2007, Google the House on the Black rock by Ben Salmon) he posts maps from the time there is also a Golf course close by, the Rocha Negra was on there jogging route and Casa Colina the villa that Clement Freud stayed in was on the jogging route too, just to add there were two Casa Colina's in PDL in 2007 in different locations within the area,
Peter Mac has done a review of this new book and there are some relevant posts on a couple of threads available on the Jill Halvern Forum just look for Bernt Stellander and you will find.

That's my feeling. I also feel they sedated the twins. What I cant comprehend is leaving 3 young sedated children in an unlocked hotel room. You wouldn't leave your handbag in an unlocked room never mind kids!
Imho

No idea but even it that was the case, your daughter is missing would that be one of the first things you’d do?

Thank you, this is really interesting. I’ve just read Ben Salmon’s research but I can’t work out what he’s getting at - does he think they left her body in the derelict house that was then demolished?
