April Jones wasn't playing out at night and like I've said before she was with her older brothers. Its normal for kids to play outside its not normal to leave three young kids alone in a UNLOCKED apartment AT NIGHT while you go for a meal!

Yes, that is. Projecting that, therefore, their potatas bravas mattered more to them than the life of their daughter is not.
Well their social life mattered more to them than the safety of their kids who would go out on consecutive nights to eat and leave young chlidren unattended .

Wasn't Sarah Payne playing with her brothers so not exactly 'on her own'. Also sorry but there is no way I could sit in a restaurant having a meal knowing I'd left my young kids alone in an apartment never mind a UNLOCKED apartment FFS!

I haven’t got round to reading the first 2 threads yet but just thought I would give my opinion.
There are way too many lies and inconsistencies for Kate and Gerry not to know what happened. Madeline died in that apartment as the dogs alerted to cadaver in different places. I think she died before the 3rd of May as there were no confirmed sightings of her since a few days before. Sorry I can’t remember exactly... my memory sucks. Whether her parents were involved or not I don’t know, but they know what happened!

Headline in the Mirror the German's friend reckons he sold her to a sex ring . He turned up with an expensive motorhome just after she vanished , the friend said he could easily have done this as he was obsessed with the dark web and talked about selling kids possibly to Morrocco..

I hope she was stolen for an illegal adoption. That’s the best chance of her being found someday safe and well.

I don’t have a theory. Kate looks haunted and broken. Gerry is a domineering and arrogant creep but that alone isn’t evidence he was involved.

I don't love them, I feel sorry for them and don't think they deserve nearly two decades of hate.
I mean Gerry is a consultant cardiologist, he is a professor, very well educated and extremely bright, he works at one of the best heart hospitals in England. He treats vulnerable people (including children) daily, people who (like Madeleine) require care from a sensible, responsible adult.

What would you think if he left a patient for 3/4 hours to go for dinner and drinks with his friends? Do we really think that having the attitude of "it's perfectly fine to leave my toddlers and 3 yr old alone at night in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country," is the attitude a GP or consultant doctor should have?
Sorry to say but I wouldn't be happy for him to be in charge of mine or anyone's care.

I think they are well connected and that is why they have suffered no legal consequences for their terrible behaviour. If she hadn't disappeared that night, she would have come to harm another because her parents quite simply didn't give a damn about her or her siblings' safety. And we can sit and say we feel sorry for them and they already "suffered enough" but as far as I'm concerned the person we should feel sorry for and who definitely suffered a hell of a lot more than those two is Maddie. No excuses should be made and I have no sympathy for them two at all, they should be ashamed of themselves and carry that shame for the rest of their lives. My sympathy lies with their innocent children, two of whom will be forever known as the one whose sister disappeared and the other who will forever be known as the one who disappeared because her parents put their stomachs and social lives before her. Their actions caused irreparable damage it can't just be swept under the rug.

in your opinion. They've stated that it felt safe and they would never have done it otherwise.
Ohhh, that’s ok then! Do you have children? Because leaving children unsupervised while you go out drinking, at home or in a foreign country isn’t normal parenting behaviour. Its actually neglect.

Yes, that is. Projecting that, therefore, their potatas bravas mattered more to them than the life of their daughter is not.
It does kinda come across that way, you have children, go on holiday with children, why leave them like that? Especially when baby sitters were available? I don’t get it!

A mistake is thinking you’d locked the door but you hadn’t turned the key enough or shutting a window to secure it but not realising it could still be opened from the outside. What the McCanns did was wilful and so arrogant to think it would be fine. Everything was based around what suited them and what made their evenings enjoyable and convenient.

And for what? Dinner and few bottles of wine night after night? It’s not like anyone forced them to have children?

I get that they have suffered horribly but it’s Madeleine who paid the ultimate price, as a child she had no say and relied 100% on her parents to protect her and they left her extremely vulnerable for hours so they could socialise. Wtf.

Saw a re hash in the paper about Kate McCann being sure someone was watching the flat prior to Maddie's disappearance.
So.. why the F did she leave the 3 little ones alone each evening, even if they did check up on them. Makes me sick to think of them all at the tapas place having a good time knowing someone is lurking about.

Congratulations to the people on here who've finally cracked the case, managing to do it from behind your screens with a bunch of complete strangers. FFS.
The McCanns have suffered enough without the vultures who seem to revel in their pain and distress and seem hellbent on proving their guilt, despite there being no evidence whatsoever. The Portuguese police investigation was a disaster and steeped in corruption. The child is dead, of course she is, but how anyone can think for a minute that her parents did it I have no idea. The forums talk absolute shit - so much of what has already been mentioned here is pure fabrication

I find it very boring that people are coming here to go 'oooh conspiracy theorists!' - this is a thirteen year old case, we have had very limited information... until now there's been very little evidence for or against the parents, why the derisive attitude? People are going to theorise, it's human nature, hell it's the nature of the case because there's been so much mystery. Tbh I find it really boring when people come here and just brand you all conspiracy theorists as if you're there frothing at the mouth, head spinning 360 degrees "THE MCCANNS DID IT END OF!". Nah. Ain't about that life. And I mean the case is looking to be leaning toward this German guy now rather than being a whodunnit so of course the conspiracy theorists are going to stop conspiring... lol.

Jesus guys I would love to see your makeup if you are all like “that’s been applied SO well no way it was her or for fun” it’s all over her cheeks and up to her eyebrows? It’s obviously just been slapped on!
Exactly. It’s one close-up picture at an odd angle, maybe she had a tantrum (mummy took the makeup away?) or bumped her head, hence the tears? My children do things like that all the time, cry for a bit and then move on. The “bruise” is clearly blue eyeshadow. While I don’t particularly like the photo (I don’t like seeing little girls wearing makeup, even just playing), I don’t know the context in which it was taken in. I’m not even going to look at the “death mask theory” because, no. That’s just too far for me. Maybe Kate had one of those pallets with all kinds of shades of eyeshadows. I’ve bought ones before that had garish shades I’ll never use. Not rubbishing anybody’s claims, that’s just how it seems to me.

My best friend and I went on holiday to Greece with our families, a few years before MM went missing. We had three toddlers with us, it was a cheap last-minute deal, to stay in apartments which had no baby-sitting service, nor were there any restaurants or kids' clubs, it was literally just an apartment block with a pool. We had two apartments on the ground floor, the other two units on our floor were unoccupied for our first week. Our apartments had doors whch were at right angles to each other, during the day, we would leave the doors open so that the kids could come in and out when playing together, but we didn't do this on the second week when the other apartments were occupied (we didn't feel particularly worried about their safety, but the kids were loud and we didn't want to ruin anyone else's holiday!)

We spent time together as a group, we also had days where we did our own thing. Sometimes, my friend's daughter would spend the day with us, she was the same age as my son, and it gave our friends a break for a few hours, they then only had one kid to amuse all day. We almost always went out for dinner together in the early evenings. We had 3 fold-up buggies for the kids, we used to strap them in, chuck their toys, nappies, emergency clothes changes etc, in bags over the handles, and we took them out with us. Every single restaurant that we visited, made a huge fuss of the kids, nothing was too much trouble, we were given little nibbles and small portions of chips for the children, the staff would chat to them, we were made to feel so welcome everywhere, it was wonderful.

The kids had mostly been out all day anyway, so they were tired. Without fail, they would all fall asleep by around 9pm, my kid did manage to stay awake for the whole evening one time, but the restaurant had a fish tank, he spent most of the evening with his nose pressed up against it! We all managed to have a drink with dinner, but there was a kind of unspoken agreement that one of us could have a proper drink, while the other three took charge of a child each. It worked really well, I got quite tipsy after too many margueritas one night, my friend had a couple of bottles of wine on another. But our children were with responsible adults at all times.

I can't deny that a holiday with young children in tow, is often extremely hard work. Especially if you don't have access to children's clubs, baby-sitting services, etc etc. But there is absolutely no excuse for leaving young children alone in an apartment when on holiday. I don't think the McCanns will ever come out of this looking like responsible parents, but much as I think they're incredibly stupid, I think that their "friend" who left her young daughter, who had been unwell all day, is even worse. Who leaves a sick child alone in an unfamiliar environment, just to go and have dinner?

I think the whole crowd were a bunch of whiny, entitled arseholes, who just couldn't be bothered to take care of their children properly. I can't believe that there wasn't one person in that group, who didn't think that it was a bad idea to leave young kids alone, in apartments that weren't within sight or hearing range? They should all have been investigated for child neglect/endangerment, at least to show everyone else that you cannot do this, no matter how "safe" you think it is, just because you're on holiday.

I hope that the McCanns other children give their parents a really hard time about this. I hope that they tell K & G every day how much they resent being robbed of their older sister, who is missing purely because of her parents' neglect.

It still bothers me that the police were blamed for not protecting the crime scene aka the apartment. The McCann's had all their friends in and out of the apartment BEFORE the police arrived probably hotel staff as well and when you have a missing child you don't automatically jump to abduction as it's so rare so the apartment wouldn't be seen as a crime scene. Also when they process the apartment they would take fingerprints and dna from everyone who entered the apartment.
[/QUOTE]
Im honestly not sure any parents first thought would be securing a crime scene. In the immediate minutes before the police arrive, all that panic ... I personally couldn’t fault any parent for that. Who can you blame except the police? It isn’t as though they immediately secured the apartment once called out. Even for something like a straight up burglary I don’t think the onus should be on the victim to secure a crime scene themselves, to me that’s a really odd point to make.

I've always thought that there is far more to this story than will ever be made public.

We'd been in Portugal literally weeks beforehand, and we hadn't left our 3 once (similar ages). The thought of buggering off to a restaurant and leaving them alone in a hotel room is still unthinkable.

One of my biggest issues with the McCann's is they never let onto the general public how extremely well-connected they were - living near Gordon Brown's brother and Gerry's time at COMARE, for example, while letting the same public thinking they were relatable enough to need huge amonts of money donated to the Find Madeleine Fund.

I also found the fact that they wasted no time going on a "world tour" extremely bizarre - wouldn't they want to stay close by to where their little girl last was?

There's also the whole thing with how Robert Murat was treated.

I don't think they are peados or murderers but there are details that are not a good look for Kate & Gerry.

Obviously they shouldn't have left the kids alone but it's said millions of times since 2007 and over and over and not sure what value it gives to the discussion repeating it over and over again
People are rightfully upset at the inquality because we know exactly how parents that were not wealthy and well-connected would be treatded in comparison.

Just to correct: it's K&G's very close friend Jill Renwick who lived near Gordon Brown's brother. She was also the one who phoned GMTV right at the start and got the media hysteria going. Renwick's sister had a close friend in CID, too, apparently!

Very handy friend to have!

I've not seen articles of that nature but will look in to it. Their spending of these funds are shady in itself tbh.
What is the other spending that was shady?
To be honest I don’t like go fund me style things in general, they are set up in haste and they don’t have plans for the spending or the fundraising. People donate and then feel some sort of ownership over their money when the reality is they basically just gave it to a stranger to do as they please, it isn’t the same as donating to a charity or something.
But I don’t have a problem with a family having their mortgage covered in the immediate months after their child going missing but that’s just me. I also don’t think them being doctors is totally relevant, does being a qualified doctor make someone less deserving of help during financial difficulties? If the current pandemic has shown us anything it’s huge portions of the country do not have decent emergency funds.
