I quite enjoyed the nobs group as I do suffer from an ED and felt like it was a safe space (so I'm upset about the fact someone in the previous pages has posted a screenshot of comments without cropping out other peoples names and pictures). Sometimes though I felt like some of the posts were fake? Like some people would just post several times a day with the most bizzare stories? Also found it irritating when Lucy went on those getaways and kept telling us we need this time off, we deserve a vacation by ourselves etc. You do realise most of us simply can't afford to go to Greece for a week and live in a luxurious hotel having fancy dinners every night? For someone who's very anti-influencer this was just... very... influencer of her. Sad

Edit: Wanted to add I've never listened to the close friends podcast, but judging from snippets Lucy posts Sarah is so irritating and has this "fuck it" Shazzer (Bridget Jones lol) attitude? She'll be like yeah fuck them, fuck him, dump him, do this, do that, all while giving the most random sex tips? I'm just so sick of hearing women my age preach some sort of a weird mangled definition of feminism when it's sometimes exactly the opposite. Can we leave podcasts to educated professionals please thank u

Why were they upset at you (NOT saying the bullying was your fault obvs, but what was their reasoning)? :( 🤗
On the black out day last year, I asked what the best way to support POC was, as I wanted personal views from people who may know POC companies, charities ect and I was told ‘don’t use us as google, we’re not here to just inform you for fun’

I didn’t want to use google as I knew there was POC in the group and I wanted to support directly rather than a whitewashed media… sorry if that offends anyone here, I honestly thought it was the best thing to do?

I don't think most of the people there understood the issue. I'm not against volunteer work. I've volunteered in a soup kitchen for several years now because I know their funding is extremely low. I know who's funding defo isn't low though... it's a different deal giving out food to low income families AND working for free to moderate a massive facebook group while the actual CEO of the company is preaching how important it is to love yourself and not settle for less while at Mykonos. I guess this is just the harsh reality (we live in a society...) because so many clever people do unpaid internships and are paid with "experience" and are esentially being robbed.
Yes! This is what I meant when I commented ! It was so wrong that she was doing that. I talked to someone that interviewed for the position of social media manager (paid) who asked what Lucy’s goals were with the nobs brand and she said her main goal was to ‘get the app page verified’ then when asked what else, she didn’t know, there was no comments about how they wanted to help people more or further amplify POC voices.

I have SO many issues with her latest advert. Her use of WOC within it is extremely tokenistic, they are clearly there because she wants to be seen to be inclusive when you look at her life and she just isn't. But my main issue with it is that the WOC that are in the advert are all 'serving' her or are somehow 'below' her.
Examples:
1 - At the start of the advert, all the women are asleep ON LUCY. It reminds me of when the cult members would argue over who got to sleep with Charles Manson that night. She's the one who's already awake and they wake up around her, with her in the centre.
2 - When they're in the kitchen making the smoothie, it looks like they're making it FOR Lucy.
3 - At the end, all these WOC move to the side to make way for Lucy.

All of it reminds me of this cover of Vogue India, which is extremely problematic (Vogue INDIA putting a white woman in the centre of the cover with two light skinned WOC either side of her)

Also another comment on the advert was from a user who commented:
'Happy to see that you've incorporated captions, but I'm struggling to read them even at full size on a tablet because they are so small, the font isn't clear and the contrast is very variable'.

And that sums Lucy up perfect in my opinion. I know from my own job that to add subtitles etc you have to do them within certain parameters, meaning they have to be this font size and be this colour so it's inclusive and you know, actually helpful. However, Lucy won't have researched that, she will have just seen 'Oh it's the new thing to put captions on your videos so I'm going to do that to look inclusive' when in fact by not researching what is actually needed by those who use captions, she's not helped anyone !!

Lastly, what was her fucking birthday outfit. I'm starting to think her account must be satire by now. I mean, it's got to be.

Not listened but tbh Lucy I can usually bare on the pod, it’s quite funny because her insta is always so ~woke~ yet in the pod her actions reveal her as a true pick me girl.

can’t stand Tara, would say she is the problem. Heavy brand of white feminism combined with misandry

What is with her whining stories and post today 😂 “I’m like, a bit like, disillusioned by like, the fakeness of social media”

‘Like’ who does she think she is? I originally started following her because I thought she was really normal, straight talking, and down to earth. But she’s actually just another basic, self obsessed, pretentious influencer.

Lucy hun you’re “disillusioned” with Instagram because audiences are disillusioned and BORED with “content creators” like you altogether.

Yeah she’s turning 30 in December. Anyone else thought she was way younger ? Not because of the way she looks, she definitely looks like she’s nearly 30, but the way she behaves? She behaves like a child ! And her desperation to copy all the Gen Z trends is so embarrassing !

honestly it's such a cult mentality it's fucking weird!
Did you see the Lucy is life comment? Omg not a shred of irony in that.

I tried to comment with a reasonable and very considerate point as I did really like that group in the past, and was promptly evicted. No room for dissent in the cult.

I think she's great. Yeah, she has thin privilege but she has addressed this a number of times (from what I can see) and it's better than preaching fitness for aesthetics bs. Just because she's in a smaller body it doesn't mean she's obliged to post about bulking and cutting and workout routines to grow a fat ass. She's an influencer who doesn't use her physique to sell stuff which is admirable. I think she's a breath of fresh air - more influencers should follow her example.
I think she’s decent don’t know what people have a problem with.

Example, look at her in these fucking glasses. She is in her 30s, come on
I honestly don’t think anything is wrong with her being in her 30s and still following tiktok trends etc, I mean, women in their thirties aren’t exactly grandmas. Whether the glasses look good or not is a diff story 🤣

I’m not sure what’s worse about the new ad, her hair & make up or her commitment to diversity that’s only apparent when she’s trying to make some money.

honestly such a shame she flopped, I sometimes miss the nobs fb group as, for the most part, it was such a nice little community full of like minded people

Of COURSE she’s the type of white woman who thinks she can be ‘healed’ with crystals 😂 they are rocks !
I feel like she doesn't have a real personality and just does what either the boyfriend she's seeing at the time does or what other people are into on insta

Seriously? What year does she think she is? We all had this conversation years ago and she's trying to repackage it into a 2022 cute insta package waiting to go viral for clicks

Also I really despair at having this typically pretty thin woman telling me this. Fuck off.

omg really ?! did they give a reason?
Mental health reasons apparently, they all had their own shit to deal with, quote from Lucy “Sarah has the move, Tara has her business and I … have my own shit” wonder what she meant 🤨

£17 for a star chart !!!!! What the fuck. This is the problem with influencing, it’s unsustainable and then you’re left with nothing to fall back on
