Makes me feel like I'm a rubber necking a car accident.
It's probably the most upsetting case I've ever seen in my lifetime. I'm not interested in anything private about the babies, I'm genuinely interested in this case though.
My friends have had babies in the countess of Chester, I live on the Wirral so it's a popular choice.
If my wife or I ever decided to have a child it's likely we'd have chosen there as our hospital prior to this.
If it's a cover up, I wouldn't want to go there, if they had that many baby murders committed before noticing, I wouldn't want to go there. Maybe it being close to home makes me care.
My wife won't let me talk about this one, finds it too bleak as I'm invested x

Full disclosure (and I've talked about the on the Real Life Crime & Murder threads) - I'm from Chester, I was born at that hospital and my mum worked there for 35+ years in maternity care. She doesn't know LL - she never worked in NICU, and her role had changed by the time LL was working there, but she spent many, many years on those wards looking after mothers and babies. One of her close friends though did work with LL on occasion and was interviewed by the police around six times specifically about her. It's really strange because I've not barely talked with my mum at all about the case (and she's the one who got me fascinated with crime) but I did see her recently and she said her friend is very tight lipped over whether she is giving evidence or not. And that's genuinely the extent of my "inside knowledge".

I had twins back in Aug 2021, who had to be delivered early, our NICU we were delivering at was full and LLs hospital was one of the only hospitals within the NW who had incubators available to take our babies, that peaked my interest & I put up a fight them going there and I've thought about her case ever since after seeing just how amazing the nurses were who looked after my children, it sticks with me because I just don't understand how one person could do so much?!
Thankfully our local hospital found 2 incubators and we weren't transferred over there

100%. I said shift patterns and ruling out everyone else would play a major part in this. It has to otherwise the whole case doesn't make sense.

There is bad people, men and women, in every single profession so if guilt is proved here, I am not in the least bit surprised. I think if she is, people tend to be shocked because she’s young blonde and white.

When I looked him up today, I am embarrassed to admit I spent a good minute wondering what the fuck a "KC" was I thought it was some fancy title I'd never heard of. I didn't even think about that changing. It's going to take some getting used to!

I've just seen this, I really feel for them in addition to the victims families. LL dad looks devastated in this.

Really intrigued to find out more about this case and the evidence they have because there's very little known (rightly so for a fair trial!).

As someone who has worked in nursing, I find this fascinating. Whilst I have no idea about this case specifically, I have found that in hospitals it can be surprisingly easy to frame someone and happens far too often. I can only hope they have robust, forensic evidence behind this accusation and aren't relying heavily on circumstantial factors.

Only if you go looking for them. I personally haven’t and won’t and I imagine the majority of people reading articles about the case wouldn’t. I imagine once the case is over they might release the names and maybe photos and we might hear from the families.

I just hope this thread doesn't go the way of the star hobson one. Everyone is entitled to have their opinion just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they have a low iq or haven't read the evidence as intently as you have. Seen a few snide comments about it even on here be repectiful and if you don't agree you can just scroll on by.

In my opinion they aren't charging you with 8 - 10 counts if they don't have evidence good enough to bring them its high profile they know this they can't be seen to be fucking this up

Theyve mentioned insulin. That's how BA killed some of her victims if I'm not mistaken. I've got chills. I can't imagine how the families are feeling.

Either way if LL is found guilty or not, the hospital should be held responsible as well in my opinion. I don't know much about NICU but I listened to a YouTube earlier and the hospital had failed to provide adequate staffing levels, correct amount of registrars on duty etc. If a crime was committed by one person, they shouldn't of even of had the opportunity to do it. Had there have been adequate staffing levels, senior consultants etc on duty then the outcome may well have been different, if LL is found guilty, there was an opportunity and she took it.

Unfortunately lack of ward staff & senior registrars etc is the norm throughout the NHS not just NICU specific.

I agree with you, even though it's probably the most horrific crime I can think of.
I do, however, think Venables should stay in jail for life due to his later actions.

Venables is a problem. He has broken the terms of his life licence many times now. Just how many more chances do you give him? would be my question to the parole board.

There was a case in America, can’t remember what it was for, a serial killer maybe, and the details of the case were so horrific the judge excused the jury from jury duty for the rest of their lives. I can only hope the jurors from this case are afforded the same

I really hope she’s innocent. Not because I don’t want the parents to get justice, of course I do. I simply couldn’t go on if I lost my little girl. (My daughter is of an age, where a lot of the babies would be, had they lived)
If she has done this.. it’s just the most awful thing ever. Not only will she have stolen those babies lives; she’s ruined their parents & families lives, HER parents lives, her friends and those that love her.
I know it’s only just getting started, but I’m desperate to hear her defence.

Are there any medical people on here who can say when you would use insulin for a baby?

Neonatal hyperglycemia. Typically affects infants with low birth weights but instead of giving it like you would an adult with a pen you would have a sliding scale where you test sugars regularly and adjust infusion. It’s been a while since I’ve been on nnu so I’ll be a out of date with my knowledge but know enough
