I hope her case isn't affected by the absolutely shocking levels of scientific evidence that have historically been presented at trials where the victims are babies.

Brings to mind the infamous cot death stats spoken by an 'expert' on the stand who put a woman in jail despite not understanding basic probability let alone complex epidemiology statistics.

And of course. we all remember Louise Woodward's jury being turned not by evidence but because she wasn't 'likeable'.

Getting juries for this sort of thing must be horrendous. Who can truly be objective?

Wonder why the passed away children aren't being named? I did see someone on the group say she was seen to be abit weird (easy target some would say). I just have seen first hand how these organisations can and do single people out to be scapegoats and it tends to be the 'weird', 'quirky' ones. Like that landlord with Joanna Yaetes.

Not taking away from the families of the victims here because obviously nothing compares to what they've gone through and still have to come with the trial but imagine being Lucy's family and friends if she's found guilty and them genuinely having no idea she could have been capable of it

Exactly. I mean... fucking hell fire. They'll be the family of the woman convicted if murdering babies and they're innocent. It horrific for everyone family wise.

Guilty or innocent the outcome is horrendous. Letby’s life is over either way.

We‘ve seen no evidence yet so I have no opinions to share but I do hope this is based on a huge amount more than circumstantial evidence. Having spent the last 6 months in and out of hospital with a family member - chaotic and disorganised is the way I’d describe it. Individual staff v caring but absolutely no coordination or communication.

Another weird thing. Why is the trial happening in Manchester and not Chester where the murders are alleged to have taken place? They’re not even in the same county?

Less chance of a Manchester jury pool knowing the alleged victim's families, witnesses, people connected to the case and/or having potentially prejudicial experiences at the COC.

Change of venue is not unheard of in big cases like this. Or in John Grisham novels which is where I learned about it

I seen someone about 5 months ago say the hospital only referred it to the police once parents started threatening to go to report the hospital to the police. I have this niggling feeling they had some sort of new machinery/medication... something new... and that's what's caused these deaths and the hospital can't admit to that for whatever reason.

Considering how many hospital scandals there have been, involving needless deaths due to negligence and incompetence, it’s actually really concerning to hear that the hospital didn’t act until the parents made a fuss. Reminds me of this story: 200 babies and nine mothers died, countless other babies left with disabilities:

My guess that human error is always more likely that faulty machinery.

You know what? I don’t want LL to be guilty. I think that’s true for so many of us. Horrific as it is, it would be easier for this to be yet another hospital-wide scandal rather than the evil behaviour of one nurse.

My cousins meningitis wasn't spotted by hospital until it had destroyed a part of his brain and he has no ability to learn now. Was a record payout by the NHS back then. No quality of life. Took them 9 yrs to admit their failures as well.

Took them years to admit their failures for us as well. My sister now has brain damage she will never live independently or be able to work. It’s a shocking hospital and I don’t know anyone that goes there to have their babies we all go to Arrowe park.

Facebook is just madness. The comments on the news articles this morning are worse than the groups. I saw one saying that her colleagues felt she didn’t do it and is being made a scapegoat to a cleaner who worked there.

Also ‘I know you can’t tell by looks. But she doesn’t look the type’. I mean, wtf? How stupid are some people.

Most friends family and colleagues would say the same about anybody. Shipman’s other elderly patients thought he was fantastic, the best most caring doctor. Wayne Couzens’s MIL said he wouldn’t hurt a fly. I think the former colleagues are in for a shock. Nobody wants to entertain the idea that someone nice isn’t as they seem.

The Facebook searches, id find it far more strange and incriminating if she's searched them up before coming under suspicion, if after, I think yea it'd be quite plausible that she'd have a nosy. I think when she searched them up will be an important factor.

That does really bother me. Imagine being the parents and finding out that not only was your child potentially murdered, but the suspect also 'stalked' your pain on Facebook.

Remember that poster who seemed normal and came on one night being really weird and doxxed someone else on the thread.

Yes...the 'stalker' was a VIP member and had been on tattle for years. They were completely normal until a few nights before the incident, when they started waffling on about the most bizarre things at 3am.
Then we all woke up to drama! Guessing it was a 'Trusting Evil' fan!
Wonder if Corrine will have a view on Prison pages...
