The insulin poisonings were attempted murders. I think the two insulin poisoning cases, along with the assault on one of the triplets, was where she was found unanimously guilty.
I think it’s more likely that she tampered with the insulin to get him onto the ward if she knew his specialty was paediatric diabetes and a child was thought to be having diabetic seizures or a similar diabetic emergency. We know she liked creating problems when he was on call so that he would come running down, and they could save lives and/or console each other
He was a very stupid, selfish man who clearly wasn’t thinking with his head (led by his fool), but I don’t think anything he did was malicious. I genuinely believe he thought she was sweet and innocent and that he was simply trying to help a friend (cough - girlfriend) without stopping to think about the consequences. He deserved to be investigated and to face some consequences for his actions, but I’m still sorry that he has died like this.

Doctor No name wasn't there at the beginning of murders. Not sure when he actually started but I don't think they formed a friendship until baby N.

He gave evidence about Baby L (the second insulin poisoning), but his evidence only lasted a few minutes. I think this was the first time he was involved in the trial, because it was then that she became upset and tried to leave the dock when she realised who it was.
He basically just confirmed that Baby L’s blood sugar levels were lower than he would have wanted them to be. I’m guessing he was only indirectly involved with this baby (perhaps he was on duty but not directly involved in baby’s care) and they called him due to paediatric diabetes being his speciality (and to freak Letby out).
I imagine it was around then, or perhaps a little before, that they started developing a friendship, which then grew into what it eventually became.
Can I also add that every time I open the wiki, I always laugh when I see “Lorenzo the Plumber” listed as a defence witness

I browsed the GMC site
They immediately removed it though. A lot of comments here are getting into criminal offence territory.
I’ve seen where it now says reported deceased on the GMC site by Dr A’s name.
How sad that it’s really been 10 years since it all and she is still ruining lives.
It hurts my mind to believe that someone would choose to do what she did, like it seems insane, but from the evidence out there and her smaller weird proven actions (eg tons of “keep” handover sheets) I can’t believe there are so many people that are defending her still

@ClaraPlum I didn't know the married doctor had died, how old was he?
it sounds like he died by suicide, which is so sad but didn’t they say he was ill at the Thirwell inquest?
It’s a shame I feel for his family but also what a waste, be was a consultant and no doubt saved lots of children lives in his career, what a way to end it being sacked all down to creeping after her.

Nadine Dorres writing today in DM about Dr A. She says he was a key witness. She describes Letby as a happy, shy nurse, liked by everyone, was a stickler for the rules and would not cut corners. (What about all the texting whilst in the nursery and pushing the feed through. What about taking 200+ handover sheets home and asking Dr A for confidential patient information in text messages!!!) She says the prosecution were struggling to build a case but found their chance with Dr A and they jumped on it!!! He flirted with Letby and she was slightly in awe of him. He was not unattractive (anyone who has seen his picture would agree he wasn't good looking at all). He had chosen Lucy as the object of his attention. She says as a former nurse (for all of 2 minutes) I've seen many times bosses taking advantage of young female employees. She says he later claimed it was Lucy who had manipulated him and deceived him. She said she was questioned by the prosecution who portrayed her as an emotionally, needy temptress and worse a harlot. She effectively says if it wasn't for Dr A's evidence Letby would be a free woman. What a lot of rubbish Dorres is churning.
Dr A role in Letby's convictions has been massively over stated. She had committed most of the offences before they even met. She was interested him because he had access to the consultants meeting and was a way into Alder hey.
I saw this coming... He probably committed suicide.
Dorries is an old soak grasping around for anything that will give her attention. 20 years as an MP and achieved nothing other than enriching her family by employing them.
im SHOOK he was married and in his 50s!! I was under the impression he was of a similar age to Lucy. His poor wife and family being dragged into this.
