Lucy Letby Case #82

Doctor A's involvement with the Letby trial has given the media the opportunity to make a soap opera romantic drama story line. As his identity and looks have been kept from the public people have been free to use their imagination. This has led to his image as being much more sexy and attractive then the ordinary middle age man was.

There has been no other past romantic partners of Letby being mentioned, suggesting that she wasn't interested in having a boyfriend. I think Dr A was probably looking for a fling with her and she wanted a spy in the camp.

Professional Chase, one of the experts on Letby's new panel who claimed that the insulin levels recorded for baby F and baby L were normal for pre term babies has made a complaint to ofcom regarding his interview with panorama.

He claims that he was treated unfairly and his views were misrepresented. Ofcom disagreed and have not upheld his complaint.

Ofcom's response can be found here:

If he can't cope with being challenged by a journalist, I doubt he would react well under cross examination.

Chase stated that "the antibiotics bind to the insulin and doesn't clear" however this doesn't make sense as the insulin can't clear the blood sugar with the antibodies bound, therefore the antibodies must have been rapidly clearing and not binding to achieve the blood results in baby F. It's telling that no endocrinologist are backing his claims up.

Ugh, this doesn't feel good. I know we'd figured it out but surely he didn't need to be on the front pages.

The comments are almost all calling it out and expressing sympathy for his wife and kids.

I was a lurker on the Letby theads during the trial (although very much on the guilty side!), but I'm confused about this doctor who has been named. I thought the mystery boyfriend doctor was Asian – I'm not sure if he was ever named here, but I do remember people seeming to know who he was and giving clues. Was that someone else?

He’s exactly who we were aware of when they forgot to redact his name

I Find this very odd….
Mr Deakin, himself a diabetic, also accessed Baby N's medical records inappropriately, including after Letby was convicted, the investigation found.
Why on earth would he put himself in this position knowing he was in trouble already for passing on information, this was after she was convicted so nothing to gain by looking at the records.
I feel for his family having the press on their door now.

He also offered to lend her his car and left her some chocolate on the ward, and they met up at various places in Cheshire too 👀 shocking he’s died, wonder if she knows yet. I presume the court order stays in place to protect his family. I wonder if the media will attempt to get it lifted.
It’s already lifted. His name has been reported on the 6pm news, Dr Deakin.
Found unconscious in his car, in a diabetic coma. Recently sacked from his job, for gross misconduct, because of confidential patient messages exchanged with Letby.

I wondered at that as well. Maybe he just wanted to check the details to reconcile what he had thought was going on with what actually happened?

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but if anyone had the knowledge to kill themselves by diabetic coma it would be him.
His life had gone down the toilet and dying from a medical reason would mean his family would still get any insurance.
It could just be that I’m an old cynic.
