I wouldn’t say we are even that active anymore. And David Wilson says “The 'noisier' Letby commentators are almost universally on the side that she is innocent”.

And that’s because the vast majority of us and the general population are carrying on with our lives quite secure and happy with the knowledge a serial baby killer is locked up for the rest of her life. We don’t need to keep shouting about it 🫠

The inquiry found Dr Deakin's support for Letby, 36, continued well into 2017 when he helped her to secure observational theatre placements at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. He did not tell the hospital that she was no longer permitted to look after babies on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

How many more lives were put at risk …. Good god!! TWAT!

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but if anyone had the knowledge to kill themselves by diabetic coma it would be him.
His life had gone down the toilet and dying from a medical reason would mean his family would still get any insurance.

I would bet that most people’s motivation for reading her surprisingly gripping report is to seek out evidence of Letby’s guilt or innocence

Finally had a chance to read through Thirlwall's report in full.

1. Mr Harvey then noted an issue around the rota allocation of medical and nursing staff on shifts before and when babies deteriorated, saying that there were a number of staff who appeared more frequently, and one member of staff in particular. The member of staff was said to be one of the unit’s highest trained staff. This was not accurate. Letby was an entry-level band 5 nurse, with a degree and QIS training. In fact, there were approximately seven band 5 nurses, all with degrees. Letby was one of two band 5 nurses with QIS training. The majority of nurses on the neonatal unit (approximately 18) were more senior, at band 6 level, all qualified to at least QIS standard. There were also a number of junior doctors.

This is it in a nutshell. Lucy wasn't an exceptional nurse. She was in fact, one of the least qualified on the unit, shouted at senior staff and ignored orders to stay with her patients, and had also previously made a serious error. And yet she somehow had COCH completely in her pocket - to the point they were planning to manage out 2 long serving consultants who they knew came under the whistleblowing policies - because they’d noted they needed to figure out how to get around them!

I haven't posted in ages, because I'd wanted to move in and forget her. She deserves no attention and the families deserve to be left alone.

But the absolute loonies drive me insane,vile little humans they are.

Thankfully this report sums up things I thought, that Letby was not a kind or caring nurse. She was manipulative and cold and cruel and constantly wanted her own way at the detriment of other babies. And don't even get me started in those hospital managers who deserve to be in prison for letting her continue her crimes.

And I may be a horrible person myself, but her lover boy deserves no sympathy. He may have been manipulated by her, but at the end of the day he broke countless confidentiality rules and laws. The fact that he was even trying to get her into contact with more babies at a different hospital despite her being not allowed to nurse anymore. Surely that's a severe breach of regulations and trust.

The only people who have my sympathy are the families of those whoever had contact with that monster.

While the Thirlwall Inquiry did not look at Letby’s guilt, it found:

• Letby ignored management instructions when she disliked them, and shouted at her manager
• Falsified records, while one infant in her care was found covered in their own faeces
• She was repeatedly untruthful in her dealings with friends and colleagues, and
• Had an inappropriate and callous nature noted by patients

i cant remember hearing about baby covered in faeces, was that reported at the time ?

Honestly I still can’t actually comprehend that the scenario is this: neonatal unit with out of the ordinary rise in deaths of babies - same nurse present - dr raises concerns this nurse is doing something accidentally/deliberately but none the less is the possible cause - manager refuses to remove nurse from ward to investigate.

It’s actually WILD. Whether at the time she did think it was a personal attack (I don’t buy this personally) WHY would you risk it? WHY would you risk the lives of more babies after an allegation as serious as that.

People get suspended from jobs for much less while investigations take place.

It angers and baffles me to this day. I agree with how the enquiry is written, it really does shine a light on the manager’s failures.

Sadly, those that think she is innocent won’t read the enquiry, just like they didn’t follow it at the time nor did they follow every day of the trial

I do think this is really awful for his family but given the professional misconduct I don’t think he should have remained anonymous even if he hadn’t died. I think the outcome of his sacking in May/June tipped over into public interest. Think of all the families that have unknowingly had him care for their child. Regardless of Letby’s convictions, he breached patient confidentiality.

Unfortunately it’s because he wanted anonymity during and post trial, that it now all comes out after he’s died. He doesn’t have to face it but his family unfortunately does but that’s a decision he made (and maybe his wife). I hope to god they had told his kids about his involvement before any of this. I think they may be adults now.

I don’t think he deserved to die but I also think I have very little sympathy for him? Another man not only thinking with his dick first but also putting his own interests before his tiny patients.

I think we knew she neglected her designated baby that night and that this poor little one was grunting and getting more and more poorly but not that it was sepsis.

I still think that she would have done things like withhold medication and nutrition because she was quite happy to overdose and over feed babies to the risk of their life, why not the opposite.

I am suspicious of every time that a baby that got more ill under her “care”. I suspect that the main reason the other cases didn’t get to trial is that those babies were on record as being much more poorly and vulnerable to begin with but I have no doubt that she still played her part in making them more sick or dying. Even the case with the baby that had a life limiting condition (it made the papers) and it just happened to be with Letby that this baby died still relatively unexpectedly. She played her part in that, I am sure.

I'm another who's not posted much here since the trial ended.

I read an online news article about a mother and her baby. She was describing an occasion when a nurse was performing a heel prick test, something the baby had had done several times previously. She remembered thinking that the nurse was being unprofessional, repeatedly sticking the needle in and as a result the baby was becoming distressed. It was so unusual that it had remained with her, although this had taken place several years earlier.

Once the news broke, she realised the nurse had been Letby.

So I too wonder how many true victims there are, and also how many babies were intentionally hurt too.

I must be one of the few who has no sympathy for him. His family, yes, but not him. And even more so the families of the babies he must have put at risk by being close to Letby, feeding her personal information about them whether he was aware of the seriousness of the allegations against her or not, and getting her access to more babies at Alder Hey. He was an absolute fool, a sucker for a young woman’s attentions. He prioritised her above the safety and wellbeing of the babies they were supposed to be caring for.

I was just listening to the Crime Desk podcast and they said that Letby’s designated baby at the time of Baby C’s death developed sepsis because Letby was so obsessed with being in Baby C’s nursery whilst he was dying that she neglected her own designated baby

Was that already known? I don’t recall reading about this but it’s made me so angry

What on earth have I just read

A hospital boss altered a review into baby deaths to make it appear that two infants murdered by Lucy Letby had died of natural causes, a public inquiry has found.

Ian Harvey, 68, changed the document without the knowledge of its “shocked” author before using it to mislead the board at Countess of Chester Hospital into allowing the former neonatal nurse back onto the ward.

Did I miss this part initially because wow, just wow!

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist I have wondered about Old Man Letby’s “connections”, just saying so. I might be way off the mark and it could just be simply that the story is guaranteed to generate clicks and press attention for the “supporters”. Another thing is that a lot of people have an axe to grind with the NHS and see this as a way to tell their own unfortunate stories. The unit does sound like a bit of a shitshow but that doesn’t exclude the possibility of a murderer flying under the radar there, in fact it’s probably part of the reason she got away with it for so long. I say “so long” because she should have been removed much sooner but it was actually a very short space of time where she went nuclear and attacked as many babies as she could. Though most of us (police included) suspect it was going on much longer in less obvious ways. The issue is clouded in some people’s minds by the downgrading of the unit afterwards.
Another thing that sticks in my mind is the fact she used Dr. Simp to try and keep working, slyly concealing why she had been removed. That’s not the actions of a normal person and would definitely be frowned upon by the NMC. IIRC she wasn’t facing sanctions from them but as a nurse you know it would be brought up at any fitness to practice hearing. As such a conscientious and diligent nurse who worried her perfect practice may be to blame (and who probably should have been reported while still a student- it does happen) you would not want to give them any ammunition. As Igiveup points out upthread about the pattern of deaths, there was also a pattern of behaviour. She didn’t abide by rules or instructions, always thinking she was above all that and entitled to do whatever she wanted. Manipulating others into believing her sob story and acting on her behalf, it’s still going on now ffs!

Letby was very strange, aside from all the harm which the sympathisers forget. Taking home all the 257 handover sheets and deliberately storing them in various places. These were clearly important to her. Keeping her first handover sheet when she was a student in a special rose patterned box. Stalking parents on Facebook, some she didn't actually know and then looking them up on the anniversary of the baby's death as well as in the middle of the night on Christmas day (dates that would have particularly sad significance for them). A very strange and ghoulish woman which people overlook when they are singing her praises.

I’m so impressed with how the report has been written. I like how direct her findings are against every individual and uses phrases like ‘this was ridiculous’

Take down of Karen Rees. Particularly like the last bit

“She was later to assert in the grievance and in evidence that she felt that Dr Brearey bullied her in the conversation on 24 June 2016…I also observed Dr Brearey in the witness box for a prolonged period, and Ms Rees in the witness box for long enough to assess the likelihood of her being bullied by anyone, still less Dr Brearey. The likelihood is nil.”

I feel quite happy about today. I think it's shown how miniscule Letbys support actually is. They tried to make a protest and it ended up with about 20 lunatics. I've seen bigger queues for the ice cream van. Add to that, Letbys so called experts, bowing out on the day of the enquiry being released, and it's exposing how much of a sham this innocence fraud is.

As terrible as the reality of what happened is, it's good to hear it spoken about in sobering terms, with absolutely zero doubt about her guilt. I'm sure this is having an affect on the national opinion.

I think this is the time when it's really going to start to get less headlines. Its literally a handful of weirdos and attention seekers. Soon to be confined to the darkest corners of the conspiracy theory web.
