Hospital board were asked to 'support' in assisting 'Letby’s return to the neonatal unit'published at 11:35 British Summer Time
11:35 BST

Judith Moritz

Reporting from the inquiry

We're now hearing about a meeting on 30 December 2016, involving:

  • Tony Chambers, former chief executive of the Countess of Chester Hospital
  • Ian Harvey, former medical director of the Countess of Chester Hospital
  • And Sir Duncan Nicholl, former chair of the board of directors at the Countess of Chester Hospital

“It was at this meeting, it appears, that the roadmap forward was set out," de la Poer says, which included a plan to endorse the transition of Letby back onto the neonatal unit.

An extraordinary meeting of the board was held on 10 January 2017 - where a statement by Letby was read.

De la Poer tells the inquiry the board were asked to "accept the Royal College report" and "support the executive team in assisting Letby’s return to the neonatal unit".

“Sir Duncan Nichol has publicly said the board were misled by Mr Chambers and Mr Harvey at this meeting," De la Poer says.

Absolute flabbergasted about how clear the local guidance was for sudden unexpected death of children even in hospital. It was absolutely obvious what they should have done 😣

there was even a bloody flowchart!

You have to wonder if this will become criminal negligence given it seems there are policies in place to investigate unexpected child deaths and they just didn’t follow it.

Can the families sue to the Trust if they find there has been criminal negligence?

Child Death Overview Panel Wales investigating some deaths when they have different (perhaps more lenient) criteria. Four different panels investigating different babies. They were unable to spot patterns and clusters.

Not the poor readers iPad activating Siri and giving him web results for what he'd just said 😭 The sheer panic he must have felt trying to stop that.

Check whether it's live for you on BBC. I've noticed whenever they return from break, mine automatically pauses and then by the time I've realised, I'm behind.

I shouldn't laugh considering the subject, but I'm tempted to ask you if you want me to put spoiler tags on my comments now ;)

Becoming increasingly aware that men in suits that know Letby is guilty might be my type 🤗

Right he’s just said 8 deaths in the 12 months from March 2015 @slingo16

“The midwife noted Letby was a common factor in most of the deaths, but says her boss was "dismissive of her findings"”

There was also a midwife who was conspiring against Letby. Add her to the list! 🤭
