Im behind and only up to the period immediately after the triplets death, she’s reading the consultants emails to each other. One says something along the lines of “we are currently all under suspicion. We need external help to look at all of us, our lives outside of the hospital, to shed light on this”
And he was right because there was somebody with all the incriminating evidence stuffed in bags under her bed!!! That had been searching the parents in groups. In the middle of the night. When the parents were still there for other children. Somebody that had sifted through a bin to take home and keep a blue towel used to record the 30 minute resus of child M.

Hopefully we hear a lot more detail like this that was absent from the first trial. It’s very similar to the sentiments expressed by all those unfortunate enough to work alongside evil

Want to say that the coverage has been amazing so far but that will probably jinx it won’t it 😬
just going back to this as it’s just come up where I am on the streaming. It’s interesting ‘the grapevine’ was mentioned after baby C as that’s very quick given A, B (survived) and C were only in the space of a week. I doubt other hospitals would be going ‘have you heard about Chester’ in the time between A and C. Further adds to the suspicion of incidents before baby A.

Letby claimed she'd been 'exonerated' in email to staffpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time
16:11 BST

Ms Langdale is discussing the grievance Letby brought after concerns were raised about her.

In January 2017, she says Letby emailed all staff on the neonatal unit stating: “I was redeployed from the unit in July 2016 following serious and distressing allegations of a personal and professional nature made by some members of the medical team.

“After a thorough investigation it was established that all the allegations were unfounded and untrue and I have therefore been fully exonerated.

"I have received a full apology from the trust... I will begin making my return to the unit in the coming weeks.”

Hospital management were aware of the email, the inquiry hears.

However, Ms Langdale says: “The inquiry has not seen any evidence to suggest that anyone at the hospital responded to Letby’s email to correct her and to clarify that she had in fact not been investigated at all, let alone exonerated.”

Yep! Don’t forget baby A is a “bad run” 👀

I’m so far behind but I’m absolutely gobsmacked with what we are hearing so far. I wasn’t expecting all this detail on the first day. That email she sent was so bleeping arrogant!

December 22, 2016, Letby and her parents met with Mr Chambers, Mr Harvey, Ms Kelly, Ms Rees the Head of Urgent Care Nursing and Ms Hodkinson, the Director of People and Organisational Development. At the start of the meeting, Letby’s mother read out a statement. There followed a discussion of the concerns which had been raised.

Her mother read out a statement, how bleeping weird is that, a grown woman taking her parents to a work disciplinary!

Letby attended Alder Hey for a number of supervised visits (outpatient, clinics, ward rounds, team meetings).
A doctor there says “to my knowledge [Letby] had no unsupervised patient contact.”
It would not be until June 3, 2017 that Letby was told by the Hospital that she could no longer go to Alder Hey.

To his knowledge Letby didn’t have patient contact, Letby could swan about wherever she wanted by the sound of things, including going back to unit she was suspended from. how the hell wasn’t she stoped.

Wow… I’ve yet to go back to the start - I’ve just dipped into the latest bit of the live reporting. So LL wrote a very smug and entitled email to her colleagues saying she’d been fully exonerated after the grievance was upheld

this is her:

"I have received a full apology from the trust... I will begin making my return to the unit in the coming weeks.”

Hospital management were aware of the email, the inquiry hears.

This bit says it all
However, Ms Langdale says: “The inquiry has not seen any evidence to suggest that anyone at the hospital responded to Letby’s email to correct her and to clarify that she had in fact not been investigated at all, let alone exonerated.”

Everyone was tiptoeing round her. They even had a f-ing tea party for her to welcome her back to the NNU 🫣in which she lorded it over them and made the nurses on the unit feel uncomfortable 🤬

Letby attended 'tea party' at unit after being moved to other jobpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time
16:18 BST

Judith Moritz

Reporting from the inquiry

On 5 April 2017, Letby was informed her return to the neonatal unit was to be paused, and it was recommended that she cease to visit the unit, Langdale tells the inquiry.

"It appears that Letby had visited... unsupervised on one occasion in the last week of February 2017 with the knowledge of at least Alison Kelly, Susan Hodkinson, and Karen Rees."

"Letby attended a 'tea party' on the unit with Nurse Z, which Yvonne Griffiths, deputy unit manager, explained to staff was to welcome Letby back onto the unit."

Langdale tells the inquiry that nursery nurse Jean Peers described the event as follows in her evidence: “I was on [at] the weekend and so was Yvonne Griffiths, she said that Letby was coming with Nurse Z and that we would do a tea party to welcome her.

"We did cakes and tea, and she came in and we were all talking, and she did not say a word to us. Yvonne and I were talking a lot to make it nice and relaxed and when she went, we both said, 'oh my God, she is going to make it hard for us when she returns as she seems angry'

I cant imagine how the parents must be feeling today, it’s only day 1 And already how many missed opportunities to stop her have came out.
I didn’t expect reporting to be this detailed, but bloody hell I feel as angry as I did reading the daily updates of the trial.
Guess we are all going to be hanging around this thread now for a few more months!

Tenacious lobbying' by consultants kept Letby off neonatal unitpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time
16:06 BST

Jonny Humphries

Reporting from the inquiry

Langdale says it was only the “tenacious lobbying” of senior consultants on the neonatal unit that prevented Letby from being returned to her usual duties.

Langdale says the fact Letby was excluded from that unit “may have been, to some degree, chance”.

She says the initial plan was that Letby would return in January 2017 under supervision, but this was only abandoned due to staffing pressures.

Langdale says: “Later that year it was being communicated that she would be returning to the ward, despite the fact that the investigations were ongoing.

“Her planned return to the ward on 3 April 2017 only appears to have been stopped because of the tenacious lobbying of the consultants.

“But for their determined approach, it appears likely that she would have been permitted to return to dealing with babies.”

I’m sure they ask themselves if they could have done anything differently but they have no idea how many babies they did actually go on to save by their persistence. undoubtedly they did ❤

I'm wanting a T shirt with "I ❤ Brearey" on the front and "Jayaram rules" on the back.

Eta Actually "Ravi rules" would be better

Does this confidence she has tally up with the notes she wrote saying she was evil and did it on purpose and would never have a normal life 🧐 supposedly she was under extreme distress and that’s why she wrote it yet she seems confident to the point of smug 👀

also god bless this lady for speaking for three thousand hours straight. My husband will think she’s a relation of mine 😅
