In the cold light of day (something Letby’s been missing, which is likely one of the reasons she’s been out of the slammer dancing the dance in the dock again), all these NG weirdos are such a symbol of how the internet has taken over everything. Imagine if the internet was around during the serial killer heyday of the 70s and 80s, people coming up with stupid reasons why there was body parts in Dennis Nilsen’s drain (he was a real trailblazer wasn’t he, setting the scene for future plumbers to find themselves reluctantly dragged into serial killer stories). We have to put up with them because the internet’s given them a voice but in times gone by they’d have been sat around in their basements doing lord knows what without us ever having to be subjected to them.

I wonder if Letby gets fan mail from them, probably does. No wonder she’s acting more arrogant than ever, she’s sat there going through marriage proposals from absolute mutants all day long.

Gosh! Just reading a story ( god forgive me) in the daily mail of a little boy being looked into by the police, Letby was his nurse.


“Then, on February 27, when the boy was 10 days old and no longer on the ventilator, he vomited several times and was found with blood in his nappy.

His abdomen was swollen and air was also seen in his intestines on an X-ray.

Doctors performed tests but could find no reason for the blood. Letby was his designated nurse that day.

One expert who has reviewed the nursing notes, which were written by Letby, said the vomiting episodes were ‘striking’ and there was a ‘compelling reason’ to believe milk and air had and had been forced down the tube in his nose being used to feed him, in an attempt to cause him harm.

He was taken off milk for seven days and treated for a bowel condition common in premature babies but recovered quickly without any further symptoms.

On another occasion, around six days later, his parents recall Letby being furious when she came into work and another nurse had been allocated to care for their son. She asked to swap with her colleague ‘four or five times’ but the nurse refused – a move the couple now believe likely saved his life”

You can palpably feel everyone exhale with relief. And that’s us, who are interested from afar to see justice done. I can only imagine the emotions and sense of relief for Baby K’s mum and dad or anyone involved such as Dr Jayaram.

If any of our Tattle reporters are there today ( fingers crossed) , it would be really good to know more about the post verdict dynamics - between the parties -particularly Judge Goss’s remarks about attending sentencing and the ghoul’s reaction.

He passed over confidential information and emails - get in the bin.
The public enquiry will throw even more scrutiny on the poor old Mr Bean tribute act.
I would bet my house everyone who works with him now will know he was connected.

The saga about the demented cafe worker assaulting the jurors girlfriend and trying to throw the whole case is wild. Wonder if they will add that detail to the TV drama.

"Through the middle of this scrum walked two broken, haunted parents. Their daughter, who can be identified only as Baby K, was born 15 weeks premature at the Countess of Chester hospital in north-west England at 2.12am on 17 February 2016. She weighed just 692g and was no bigger than an adult hand.

The parents sat at the back of the public gallery as jurors heard how their daughter had hovered between life and death before they made the agonising decision to stop treatment. Three days of “poking and prodding” had left her tiny frame swollen and bruised.

Wrapped in a blanket, wearing the smallest knitted hat nurses could find, Baby K took her final breaths in the arms of her father shortly after 5am on 20 February 2016. She was three days old. "

My heart breaks for them. Did I pick up correctly from the podcast that Baby K was conceived through IVF? It's unbelievably awful to think that if Letby hadn't been on shift that night, or if they'd managed to get the mother to Arrowe park in time she most probably would have lived.

Court artist hasn't accurately drawn how her blazer fits her, she sort of looked like she was busting out the back of it last week when I seen LL, very tight and ill-fitting, in all honesty. But, funnily enough, if the artist is drawing her body language correctly, LL is gesturing no confidence in her assertions of innocence today. The court drawing may be fabricated, but it's interesting as I observed several instances of LL showing signs of deception on the stand, this was one that she gestured as a micro expression on cross exam, with NJ on several questions he asked, which I mentioned last week. The drawing today (if accurately drawn) is the full expression of no confidence. Anyway, I'll try and scramble my notes together and write a post this weekend now that it's over

Of course she’s quiet and polite, she kills vulnerable, new born babies. She’s not been convicted of raging, violent stabbings (for example) has she? She’s pathetic and weak and used innocent, helpless, defenceless babies to get her kicks. As someone else said, anyone genuinely innocent would surely not be quiet in that scenario? I’d be screaming day in day out about my innocence I’d be traumatised from the whole thing! She was simply putting on her “nice Lucy” act, probably feeling smug that if she’d convinced them she’d be able to convince the jury too.

My critique of that godawful Guardian article.....

• Scrawled notes” were barely mentioned during the trial itself
• “There was no forensic evidence to prove her guilt and no one saw Letby – who continues to maintain her innocence – causing harm” …. What forensic evidence would the author wish to see ? DNA and fingerprints would be of no relevance whatsoever, given that the defendant works at the crime scene. The fact that Letby wasn’t seen harming a child is neither here nor there, a serial killer would be apprehended quickly if someone saw them harming someone.
• Experts who are in the main anonymous and apart from Dr Hall, weren’t present in court and haven’t viewed any of the medical/clinical records for any of the babies. How can they express a credible professional opinion on the evidence given by Drs Evans and Bohin, let alone report them to the GMC for it, when they haven’t had access to this material?
• RCPCH: The RCPCH review was a “service level review” of the unit, not an investigation into causes of the deaths/collapses per se. It didn’t have access to the medical/clinical records of the babies & recommended an external, independent review of each unexpected neonatal death.
• Lack of apparent motive/psychological background: irrelevant- prosecution are not required to provide a motive
• Consultants didn’t go to the Cheshire Police, the hospital management (eventually) did via a letter/letters to the then Chief Constable.
• Richard Gill: A man who has in the recent past suggested that Beverley Allitt might be innocent, that many of the crimes of Harold Shipman were acts of euthanasia, that Dr John Gibbs (a consultant at the Countess) had been seen euthanising babies by Lucy Letby and who, while the first trial was ongoing, joked on social media about wanting to go into Manchester Crown Court with an AK47.
• Jane Hawdon: Told Ian Harvey she didn’t have time to complete a proper review of the deaths, recommended that four of them were forensically investigated
• Review after Jane Hawdon recommended a forensic review of four deaths- “different conclusions” to those reached by Evans- wouldn’t these have been available to Letby’s legal team and mentioned in court by Mr Myers if they were of benefit to her defence?
• Postmortems: The deaths of Beverley Allitt’s victims were also initially listed as natural causes after postmortems.

• Statistics: In her final twelve months working as a nurse, Lucy Letby was present for *all* of the 13 deaths on the NNU. If this was a case of scapegoating Letby as this article is clearly trying to suggest, then why was she not charged with more than the 7 which she was charged and subsequently convicted. In addition, Letby was acquitted of two counts of attempted murder charges that were on the chart and no verdicts were returned on several others.
• The only statistical element of the case was the chart that showed she was the only staff member present, exactly as was presented in the Allitt case.
• Dr Michael Hall: Stated in an article by the New Yorker magazine that he did not know what had caused the deaths/collapses. Why wasn’t this mentioned in the Guardian article?
