I'm really uncomfortable with all these professionals who are happy to admit they look up patients/their families on social media. I know you shouldnt share anything you dont want the world to know blah blah, but the thought that someone who's just seen someone in a very intimate situation then pops off to FB to check them out is very tacky. IMO

After seeing the text from the colleague saying things were odd about that night, I do wonder if people started gossiping and it got worse the more deaths that occurred.

I’ve worked in a medical setting and have seen how judgemental and witchy medical professionals can be. If quality of care starts being questioned, I can definitely see people starting to point fingers at others, subconsciously or not. It doesn’t mean people were being deliberately malicious, but it is human nature to deflect blame and could be the case here. Who knows?!
Absolutely this! So have I…. For all we know people that worked with her didn’t like her because she was good at her job. That’s me now speculating, but really, my gut instinct right now isn’t telling me guilty.

Tacky or not it doesn’t make you a murderer which is what she’s being accused of.

Getting confused now with the latest updates, are they saying Child B had problems at the same time as Child A?

Actually we don’t know this. the reporting doesn’t give details about any of the families searched and not on the indictment. We don’t know what the medical history is of those other families she searched or how often she searched for them. (And how long after).

She is asked whether Letby searched on Facebook for the parents of children other than those listed in the charges.

Ms Hocknell confirms that is the case. "There are a lot of searches for different people."
Yes true, we don’t have the details of who she searched for and when. But we do know she did search for other parents, not just those involved with the case which does portray her online activity in a different light.

I’m confused too as read something there Child B had sepsis and jaundice and that a problem Child A had could affect Child B (from Cheshire Standard reports )

That’s exactly what I think they are getting anything that could look guilty or innocent. It’s wrong in my opinion, crack out the proper evidence, not fair on everyone involved. Searching for people on Facebook js not wrong, that is the purpose of it! It’s in the name. Blimey
Tbh the issue is, there isn’t much ‘proper evidence’, so much of it is completely circumstantial

But why deny if there was a reasonable explanation? Like "I look all the parents up because I worry about them afterwards and want to make sure they are okay". Just seems more straightforward than lying to the police to me.
Because it's embarrassing. Makes you look like a weirdo. Likelihood is she was being nosy. Ethically very dodgy but doesn't equate to murder.

Exactly! I don’t have anywhere on my contract that states I cannot make Facebook searches. Absolutely ridiculous
I find it interesting that a lot of people are just claiming how a nurse should behave and feel like they seem to forget that we are humans?
So yes maybe you shouldnt look up patients on facebook but but you wouldnt believe how many patients look us up on facebook and send us a message.
Some other things that people seem to claim a nurse shouldnt do or should do are sometimes so normal for us or doesnt mean a big deal

I really dont know if Lucy is guilty but some evidence just isnt a hard yes for me.

Exactly, I’m also wondering if she’s unwittingly raised suspicions by saying how upset she is or how unlucky she’s been? Maybe saying that repeatedly could have made the staff gossip and infer things. I’m leaning to not guilty at the moment based on everything so far, the only things I really want to know is about the blood coming from the baby and the insulin. Need more details with that

Tbh whether a nurse should or shouldn't look up patients is completely irrelevant. The question is is the fact she looked them up on Facebook proof that she murdered their children. For me no, that's not proof.

Could her extra shifts she picked up not even to be with her obsession for work? Did she not buy a house around this time? I’m the same age now as she was when this was happening. I do a lot of overtime (different profession but probably similar pay), once the person who submitted the overtime had to check with my manager to make sure it was right due to the amount I’d done. But I was saving for a house and again bought one at around the same age as her. So I don’t necessarily see her working so much as a obsession with her job but as possibly a way to get stable in life (a house). I still do quite a bit of overtime now I’ve got my house also so I can still afford holidays, build savings back up etc.

It seemed she was on shift a lot of the time, I also know a police officer who attended 4 suicides in one night. Does that make him a murderer? Or is that coincidence? Looks like they are trying to point the blame at someone right now, they have got bugger all evidence. If the post mortems couldn’t give a reason as to why they died, how are they sure they died because of air being injected and/or being given insulin. Because it can’t be proven?….. that’s an easy get out isn’t it. This feels different to any other murder trial, it really does. Right now I don’t see any proof of her being rough with the babies, or people raising concerns before they decided to arrest her, they took so long getting to trial because they have extended the time to try and gather evidence clearly, failing so far!!!
It wasn’t just ‘on shift’. She was on her own with them just minutes before they unexpectedly collapsed. Was the police officer on his own with those four people just before they died? If not I don’t think they are comparable.

She was also young and I think at that age you might feel pressured into doing overtime to sort of build your career up as well

Yeah I was around her age at around the same time and also working as a nurse, I did at least 1 bank shift each week, and already worked 4 days per week, often I'd pick up more. I wanted the money, loved my job and my team and had no kids or boyfriend. I would have been present for many more incidents than a colleague who worked 3 days a week and picked up no overtime.

Exactly. Lets face it, searching up any former patient is weird and extremely unprofessional. Let’s not try and normalize it, but I think this is a very good explanation as to why she probably denied it! She knew it’d look dodgy and didn’t want to incriminate herself.

No but my point is, coincidence does happen. Very often, life has a funny way sometimes. She also can’t be presumed guilty because people don’t believe in it. I most certainly do, as do a lot of people I have spoken to about things

Also I always say I’m working more now as my body is able to handle it more whereas when I’m older I’d need more rest.
I also grew up with my dad working 6 days a week most of the time (to afford life) so I grew up with seeing that so it seems more normal to me

These babies can just be too weak to survive sometimes and it does happen suddenly. My cousins baby was one of them as I said.

When I'm stressed not in a good place , I would look up an ex , a teenage friend I had fallen out with more to see how they were doing. I sometimes ruminate on the past and how things have gone. I've also looked up my best friend's ex as he was a fool !!! Some people are really nosey (I'm one of these) scary to think my nosiness could be brought in court 🤣🤣🤣
Yes my Facebook searches have definitely stopped since this was brought up in the trial 🤣🤣🤣
