I wonder how it would have played out in reality if Dr B and co did go to the police without the authority of hospital bosses. It might have completely backfired on them and gone nowhere? Police not able to do anything if the bosses won’t cooperate or the bosses tell Police there is no issue and it’s a bullying campaign and they will discipline the consultants etc.

I’ve no doubt Dr B and co will have to live with the what ifs, could I have done anything else sooner. But we will never know if it would have gone anywhere anyway. So I’m not going to berate them when they were actually frequently trying to do something and it was still because of them the bosses did end up referring to the police and Lucy is now facing a WLO (please don’t let us down now Gossy 🙏🏻)

Left the house for a few hours and came back to a thread and a half filled up. I can’t catch up, but I’m so so glad these families got the justice they deserve, and I feel awful for those who have been left hanging without a verdict or a not guilty verdict. If I’m being honest, part of me hoped for a not guilty verdict and that it had all been a mistake because the alternative is unfathomable. My best friends baby is currently in NICU having been born at 30 weeks and I just cannot comprehend it at all. Frankly, that the consultants raised the alarm for so long and were routinely ignored makes the entire thing so so much worse, as many of these deaths were entirely avoidable had they been listened to early on. I can’t even verbalise how this has made me feel, other than really quite unwell. I know defendants are not obliged to come to court or attend their sentencing, but the cowardice is sickening.

Just heard on Sky now that she missed a total of 87 hours in Court. Didn’t know this before.
Wow. Was also interesting to find out the reason it was delayed initially was because she had a melt down about being moved prisons beforehand. Fucking attention seeking prick. Just like her mother by the sounds of things.

“I did it take me instead” has been on my mind too. I’ve watched my mum react when my brothers used to get arrested at home, never has she said anything like that
I think her mum knew what she was capable of, she knew that she wasn’t innocent and that was a last ditch attempt to get her out the shit for the final time in her life
If someone took my door off and arrested my kid for murder I’d be like what the fuck is going on? Not “I did it”
Yeah I can't get past this or her shouting out in court when those poor parents were there. Hearing that one of the parents had her baby's little stuffed toy with her and had to watch LL's mother act ridiculous over her baby's murderer or attempted murderer.
I think her mother needs a good fucking slap.

Will the judges be on tv then I thoroughly they weren’t allowed cameras in the courtroom
the law changed on this recently, last year or year before. They can now broadcast the sentencing of high profile cases on tv. The camera is only focused on the judge, there will be a slight time delay so they can censor some parts (names and anything too graphic), but it will be shown.

this means everyone will get to see and hear Boss Man Justice Goss ❤

They started allowing cameras for sentencing in the hope more of the general public will understand how judges come to their decision re sentences and they don’t just pluck a number from thin a.

I think he will cover in his sentencing remarks how he has weighed up life sentence with minimum term vs whole life order. I don’t think he can just come out with WLO without explaining why she meets the criteria.

I am expecting nothing less than a WLO and if she doesn’t get it I’ll be devastated.

I am intrigued what Ben Myers will have to say at the hearing. A bit like her defence case he can only work with what he’s got and that is bugger all, but I think he will have to try and say something on her behalf, probably some attempt to try and avoid the WLO.

I can’t believe she took a fucking comforter to hold in the dock. How fucking dare she. The level of arrogance, it’s twisted, like she was somehow emulating the pain of the heartbroken parents who took their babies comforters to court.

I know so many of you have articulated why the consultants didn’t go directly to the police so well already, but it’s such a BIZARRE stance to have (that they’re at fault) that I feel compelled to say something too 😂

Let’s just remember that when they first raised their concerns, they had NO evidence that LL had done anything. It was a feeling (and a fucking accurate one at that). They knew she’d done it, but you go to the police and say “I know someone’s committed an awful crime but I have no evidence” - what do you expect them to do? In order for the police to have started a thorough investigation they’d have needed co-operation from the management of that hospital. Do you think Dr J and B could have just took their patients notes out to the police station or something? What they did was the right way to do it. They did their bit in raising it, and the senior management team should have followed it through correctly. In no way, shape or form are those doctors to blame 😳😳😳😳

Please can we not with the bullshit? If it weren’t for those two men, LL would have been back on that ward, killing and harming more babies throughout 2018. Have some fucking common sense ffs.

ETA that also between them first raising concerns in Oct 2015 and the police being contacted in May 2017, they were also doing their JOB, looking after babies on the unit, maintaining their medical knowledge to provide the best care (yes consultants still do training, go through revalidation etc). They were busy people with important jobs, hence why they couldn’t be ringing 999 once a week to report the local serial killer 🙄

Did anyone else think that Dr B and Dr J have done public interviews to protect themselves? To distance themselves? Yes we knew, yes we tried to intervene but we weren’t believed, it’s not our fault, we’re the good guys?

I just get a funny feeling about it.
Not at all.

This is interesting. But antisocial when she appeared social? Can you explain it a bit more?
That's the diagnostic term for a pyschopath. Antisocial personality disorder. It means she has no empathy she does not gain joy from stuff regular people do. The only stuff she gains enjoyment from is manipulating and causing drama. She felt nothing for the babies or their pain. They were tools for her to use in her games, I don't think she set out to specifically murder it was to cause chaos. She's clever very clever , it would be interesting to see her IQ scores. She feels nothing for any of her family or friends , it's all a carefully constructed image that she maintains very well. Nobody knows her not even those closest to her.

I was taken in I admit but it was actually Dr Js interview on ITV that nailed the motive for me. She loved it when he was forced to apologise to her that's the motive power , manipulating and causing chaos.

I’m here, the last 10 days have been the strangest of my life. My heads all over I’m not intentionally ignoring, I go away tmoro night (so will miss sentencing 💔) and haven’t packed a single thing. I promise I’ll be back when I’m there and got head around things. She’s a psychopath- I have no doubts- I hope she suffers everyday of her life… the hurt she’s caused I’m struggling to comprehend…
Thank you for all your court updates. It's been really interesting to read a members point of view. You deserve your break away. You've been in court to see justice being served. You've supported the families and you've respected the courts orders.
You enjoy yourself and make time for you and your family x

You just know so many documentaries, books, stories are going to come out now. Maybe a movie or two - usually the case when serial killers are brought to justice. And as they said, possibly more charges.

Won't bring closure though. Even we who have followed it from the beginning, before we knew it was her. I've become a bit fixated on it I must admit, being local and going to many places she did mentioned in the trial. This is going to go on for a long time.

The school friend who grew up with her, haven't watched it all yet but presumably at 18 they went to different universities, went down different routes, we all change somewhat into adulthood, hopefully nowhere near to the degree of becoming a serial killer, but with different life experiences, independence etc. Probably not the same old Lucy she once knew. And everyone knows people sometimes put on a front, no one really knows exactly what lies behind the appearance, what's in someone's thoughts.
Lucy is so self controlled nobody knew her. Not even her parents the only people who saw it are sadly unable to say. She's a master manipulator , they never had direct evidence because she knew what she was doing.

Lucy Letby is a pyschopath who's bored and views people as things for her amusement. Gaining power over the consultants was fun for her and fooling the CEO. The babies were an afterthought she hurt them to cause a disruption. I don't think she intended for them to live or die she didn't care either way. She never saw them as "human" if that makes sense but toys in her game because she was bored. The ward was her chess board and she enjoyed moving the pieces around and bending them to her will.

She won't kill herself, the next thing will be an appeal and saying it's a miscarriage of justice. Lucy is the star of her own movie and she will have a plan in her mind on how she will get out and enjoy manipulating people on the quest to get there. She can then be poor Lucy forever.
She will want revenge on Dr B and Dr J for sussing her out, she will never stop the poor Lucy facade as that's all part of the fun!!!

The fact she uses her loved ones for her sick games just cements the fact she's a cold blooded pyschopath. She cares for no one at all everyone is a pawn for her.

The letter of apology is mental. And I don't care how much I was threatened with being reported to the the GMC, I wouldn't have signed it.

Why were they frightened to be reported to the GMC??? What did they have to hide???

Yes, she was hiding in plain sight. Yes, the consultants tried to do something. Yes they were thwarted by hospital managers.

But honestly - they had the ultimate duty of care towards of all of the patients in their care. No wonder they look shell shocked cos they know they played a part in this tradegy. And no doubt will be named in the compensation claims!!!
They had nothing to hide, quite the opposite really. The only one hiding was Lucy Letby. You know, the serial baby murderer? Oh and the upper management of the hospital who, instead of supporting their staff in whistleblowing and taking their concerns seriously, bullied them into apologising to the serial baby murderer who needed her daddy to throw a tantrum for her.

There was nothing positive about Lucy's "hard work" (it makes me sick to even put her and hard work in the same category) not for the unit, not for the babies and their families or the NHS for that matter.

She didn't pick up extra shifts like so many of us who've worked for the NHS do because we can't bare to see paitent ratios fall below standard, she picked up those extra shifts for one reason, and one reason only.

To murder babies.

She wasn't a hardworking NHS nurse.

She was a hard working psychopath.

What do people think was her motive behind what she did?

I think it was jealousy, perhaps to not having a husband and children of her own. Maybe she knew she couldn’t have children?
I’m quite intrigued by the older paediatric consultant that was her friend & mentor ( many thinking they were having an affair) she has stalked his wife & kids on Facebook. The incidents often occurred whilst he was the on call specialist, so was it her way of gaining attention from him?
he gave evidence behind a screen and she broke down in the dock when she realised that he was give evidence for the prosecution

Yup Dr NN was a dirty sleeze who was likely stringing her along because he liked that a young nurse was interested in him. They've also definitely slept together. I feel for his wife, but surely she must know so it's on her if she's still with him. Not buying his sympathy plea.

I’ve been there, when you have concerns about staff. And it’s sad to say you come to a point where you’re like is this worth losing my job and licence over and ultimately it’s not. No babies were dying in this case but generally bad patient management. It’s a hostile environment for those trying to make a stand.
I worked in HR at the NHS and there was so much bullying and poor behaviour but we couldn't get the top manager to do anything about it. We were gaslit into thinking it was normal..luckily I'd worked in another company prior to that and knew it was an abhorrent environment. One day I cried on the way to work, when I got to work and after work. When I told my line manager she cried too! I was eventually signed off by a lovely doctor because I was pregnant (after a few miscarriages) and she didn't want stress to harm the pregnancy. Funnily enough I did not return to work at the NHS afterwards. In fact I've not returned to work since because my confidence is dented and I'm too scared to end up in the same environment.
