In clinical roles, yes they do. But not all senior managers are clinical. So head of neonatal is a medical person, head of nursing is not medical but nursing background, but the director of HR, or the director of performance, or the general manager of operations is non medical. The C-suite i.e CEO, COO are not medical however as good doctors make terrible business leaders, it's not their skill strength.Sorry for my ignorance but do the senior managers in the NHS have to have a medical background or not a requirement?
