Sorry, I’ve not been here long and in the beginning only followed the trial via the CS, until I found tattle and followed from the outside whilst registrations were closed, but even I had the decency to read back on all the early threads, and I can tell you something matey, tattle was not an echo chamber in the early days, the reason tattle thinks guilty is because the hours and hours of debating and scrutinising the evidence.

Reddit is forever referring to Tofs wiki, and FB simply doesn’t count as they lack critical thinking skills.

Your entitled to your opinion, but to come on here and insult the intelligence of many people who have invested so many months of their lives with only one common thing in mind, justice for the babies and their families, is frankly disgraceful, disrespectful and dickish behaviour!

Also Reddit has seen about 1.5k new followers to the LL sub in the last few weeks and you can see from the amount of questions etc it’s people that have only just heard about the case and haven’t barely read anything - it’s like being back a square one with the scapegoating theories etc.

I can’t top the man with a dildo but I did events waitressing when I was a student. You didn’t know the gig until you showed up but it was a sex party and all the canapés were sex themed but in quite elaborate detail (obviously cocktail sausage dicks but they made the effort to put some little mustard purée balls on them, various versions of boobs, vaginas and bums).

It was quite weird walking round with these trays and wondering at what point you should interrupt people to ask if they wanted a fake sausage dick while they were actually helping themselves to the real thing .

They were selected for this jury but they didn't need to be on the jury. Any of them could have got out of it. They don't take problematic jurors for long trials as it's a liability. They committed to this for the long haul and they shouldn't have if they weren't prepared to do the job properly.

Just to clarify on the poll. Anything that is 9:2, 8:3, 7:4, 6:5 would be a hung jury (although I don’t think we would be told the actual split).

The guilty / not guilty relates to the largest number e.g 7:4 guilty means 7 jurors believe guilty, 4 not guilty

like wise 9:2 not guilty would be 9 jurors believe NG and 2 jurors G

ETA: also the split could vary on different charges but this was more a general feel for where the jury stand

I’m thinking about our ‘echo chamber’ and actually I think it’s possibly the only place that’s allowed people to thrash it out. Reddit, Websleuths, Facebook are actually quite heavily moderated in comparison.

I think also the format of having a singular discussion thread is a different dynamic to places like Reddit and Facebook that have tens and hundreds of separate topic threads that would make it more likely to miss things.

I’d actually argue that out of all the places on the internet, tattle will be most like the jury. A group of people who know each other well, who are allowed to fully ‘argue’ the evidence (only thing that gets moderated is personal insults and thread policing).
