i'm sorry, i only follow these threads loosely. i think if this jury were able to reach a unanimous verdict, it would have happened before now. Now the judge says they have to, i don't think they will be able to.

I keep flitting between feeling optimistic that this is an absolutely scrupulous jury who are taking so long because they want to follow due process for each and every charge, or that they are at complete loggerheads and it's all going to tit.

It’s just the same as when one goes to the loo. Whenever a juror leaves the room all deliberations and trial talk have to stop. When I did JS the smoke breaks were time planned and those who wanted to go outside were escorted by an usher. The rest usually used the time for loo breaks etc

Why are they getting smoking breaks FFS? You don’t even get that in most jobs and they have breaks anyway. They can’t have any sense of the seriousness if they’re still pissing about like this
