He’s just saying he wants the jury to come to a unanimous decision and don’t think about a majority decision yet. So if they are not all on the same page they must deliberate until they all agree.
I guess it might be easy as a jury when you first start deliberations to just want the judge to accept a majority if 10 or 11 of you already agree, without discussing the concerns of the person who disagrees. But I think the judge saying they must come to a unanimous decision forces them to discuss it.
He's telling them they need to reach unanimous verdicts, although it's worded a bit oddly

I suppose as well if you were on the jury and you were one or two that didn’t agree, you would really feel like you would want your say and discuss it. If judge accepts majority straight away then that person could be left feeling aggrieved. It’s different if after some time it becomes a bit of a deadlock. But it probably is the right decision to try really hard to get a unanimous decision even if it’s only one person who doesn’t agree initially.

I think they are likely to have reached that stage or very close. Agreement on some charges but will take a while longer on some of the others. I can even see unanimous on some charges and a majority on others. Be really interesting to see how it is handled by the judge, wonder if he will ask if they have agreement on any of the charges and then say he will accept majority on the rest, and whether we will ever know which were unanimous and which were majority. There may even be some hung charges but wouldn’t make the whole thing hung.

🤍Basically that he wont accept a majority verdict for now, only a verdict where they all agree. It is the usual starting point that they tend to relax on if deliberations have gone in too long.
