The case closes with the defence, the prosecution do not get another closing speech when he is finished. Once the defence close the judge gives directions to the jury, he may wish to address this point if he thinks it is of relevance.
This is what proves to me how deluded they are. It’s one thing to think she may be innocent, it’s another to think she was an incredible nurse. It shows just how much they are actually ignoring evidence, they can’t even accept her excessive texting on the unit and the collection of paperwork as severe misconduct. They can’t accept her attitude towards her nursing colleagues, what has Mel Taylor, Sophie Ellie, Ashleigh Hudson done to deserve the attitude and ‘banter’ Lucy has aimed at them? They are not even part of the ‘gang of four’. But they still support Lucy over anyone else on that unit.
Does anyone know if it’s likely she would have been struck off if the paperwork had become known regardless of anything else? Or some sort of suspension / warning?
They were allowing her to keep working despite the doctors’ concerns that she was harming babies (purposefully or not). I have a horrible feeling she would’ve got away with the handouts - if we’re separating them from her connection to the babies who died. She may have got a verbal warning or something but it seemed to me the head of nurses was very keen to keep her on the unit.
I doubt she'd be struck off over it but she would end up facing some disciplinary at work if they knew about the handover sheets, fb searches and amount of texting at work. I've known disciplinary hearings for a lot less but usually ends in some sort of warning. If referred to the NMC she'd likely have to do some training and reflection, but I don't think she'd lose her job.
I really can’t see how she wouldn’t be struck off for the handovers. It’s not one or two accidental ones from the past couple of weeks. It’s hundreds over years that she’s moved house, multiple opportunities to destroy. It’s a huge breach!
Thanks..I didn't think BNE would get to speak again as such, but was hoping that such a vital piece of " misinformation" is allowed to be left like that...its worrying amdnhope the judge does think its relevant
I was thinking about this last night. I don't think she would be struck off for the paperwork or texting etc. They will see the behaviours as unprofessional but fixable so she would probably get a supervision order. However she would have to do a return to practice course because it's been over 5 years since she last nursed.
I agree and think she would possibly be given a caution or a condition of practice order...i know personally many who have kept their registration for much " worse" .
It's very hit and miss with an NMC hearing though, much can depend who is on the panel and also if she had many positive caharacter refernces etc! They have to " prove" her fitness routine.pracice is impaired and maybe she would have been able to talk her way out of being struck off for thise particular "offences"

Those that were there yesterday, what was the reaction of the police when BM started talking about their investigation?
They didn’t really have any reaction as far as I could tell, they were just listening and tapping away on laptops.
Just chuckling thinking about the attack on DE and how biased everyone is and yet nobody knew about insulin poisoning until DE noticed something was up in two hypo attacks (one of his areas of interest is paediatric endocrinology and childhood diabetes) and they discovered there was a poisoner. What can that be put down to? His desperation to work on a case that, from his email, he clearly assumed would be a medical negligence case. It is honestly no wonder BM goes for the jugular.
Are the police just essentially taking minutes?
I can't see many people being happy about her looking after their babies in the future.

I didn't get the impression they were taking minutes. I must admit I've been curious about why they are all there and assume it might be connected to Hummingbird. Yesterday I think there were about 8, last week I counted 11 and the week before 14. Not all on laptops some looking at phones, one last week was making lots of written notes.
