It must be so hard for the parents to listen to all this. Lucy could have saved them a lot of pain by just pleading guilty.

BM maybe confident and loud but he has no experience of neonatal medicine and can't really undermine the medical evidence. The jury will have all the evidence in front of them and some of it is very damning.

I really do hope you 're right. Four more full days of that BULLSHIT I hope he doesn't manage to brainwash the jury. I know it's been mentioned earlier that he used a similar approach in the Jordan Monaghan trial and he was found guilty but JM was a manipulative mixed race man with a gambling habit. LL was a professional white woman being painted as a dedicated nurse so jury perception could differ. We all thought his defence summing could only be a couple of days given the absence of his own expert witnesses but we really got that wrong didn't we. As before there were a number of police there (all the same men/women we've seen before) and I can only guess what they were thinking about what BOWEL MOVEMENT was spouting. Also poor BNE having to sit there listening to it all but I suppose he's used to it.

Mr Myers says there is a 'harm event' for Child C, as identified by experts, on June 12, 2015, which is not in the sequence of events, and is not on the list. He says Letby was not on duty at that time. He says the prosecution are "not that bothered" for that one as Letby "wasn't on duty".

For Child I, there was a 'harm event' identified which is not included on the chart, and says the table 'doesn't look so good'.

He says there was a third 'harm event', not featured on the indictment, for Child G. He says Dr Sandie Bohin had said there were no further projectile vomits. Mr Myers says he referred to a third event happened on October 15, 2015 by Ashleigh Hudson, at 7.20pm...'one vomit, projectile, quite large in size'.

Dr Bohin said if she had missed it, she missed it, Mr Myers tells the court. He added that was her attitude.

He says there are 'at least two, maybe three events' which happened for the babies when Letby was not on duty. Child C on June 12, 2015; Child I, August 23; and Child N, June 14, 2016, night.


Ohh well. That makes it ok then. Never mind lads, poorly babies were poorly on occasions that she wasn't there so just ignore all the times they had sudden, unexpected collapses when she was there.

Definitely feeling a little heavy today. I've worked all week this week, and had a few deaths, one with a training member of staff who was on her first day in care - I am used to it now, but my heart hurts for her. Then this week of trial has been difficult too. This thread always gives me a bit of a boost I love hearing all your stories

I am looking forward to what defence will cojour up, I just can't imagine what it is he could say. But we will see!

Today will be a tough one. I can't imagine the horror the parents have felt listening to BNE's closing speech and hearing again the evils LL did to their poor babies; but today they'll start hearing someone trying to pass their deaths off as a conspiracy, or down to poor care/staffing etc.
I think there will be a lot of anger and emotion from where the parents are sat

I’m grateful to those of you have been to court and willing to share as it’s really helpful to have a few different perspectives. The live reporting is sometimes difficult for me to decipher, you lot always seem to get to the crux.

I will trust the knowledge of a mother of a person with Down syndrome over someone who just googled it a minute ago <3. Having done a little googling myself (and being pro-life) I know that euthanasia laws in the Netherlands are treated very flexibly.

In the UK, my friend's mum was pressured and guilt-tripped by doctors into aborting her Edward's syndrome baby at 7 months, leaving her grieving and traumatised. There was a report saying that mothers of disabled babies who choose to continue with their pregnancies are given no support in this country.

Other facts are that around half of achondroplasia (most common type of dwarfism) and Klinefelter's syndrome babies (XXY feminized boys) are aborted; it is perfectly possible to have a full and happy life with these conditions.

I know a woman who had a baby with DS last year and when I was asking about was she being well supported with her baby, she said it was non existent and that she was having to search for the support herself and in my naive self, I was completely shocked.

But I know other parents with children with disabilities and know how hard they have to fight for their child, to make sure that they can have the best settings for their safety.

I think it's absolutely appalling how we treat people and their families in this Country in terms of disabilities.

Thank you to everyone who shares their experience and knowledge of being in one of these families.

His comment yesterday that it was “mind boggling” that the medics have said the babies in the case were doing well. It’s really grim. Little problem for Benny boy are the many texts of people’s shock and disbelief that the babies died at all and that they died so rapidly. That SB launched his own investigations and enquiries to try and make sense of the deaths. While a baby unexpectedly declining, even extremely rapidly, may not be out of all possibilities, that it can happen when one person is placed at the scene over and over again is just utter nonsense. She has no defence.

Just put my darling six year old to bed ready to wake up 7 always find birthday eves a little tricky. Time goes so fast. Just so grateful and extra sad tonight for all the babies that should be here as happy little children. Especially thinking of O&P that should be just like my little boy right now this case has been something else. Thank god you were all here too. I don’t think I’ll follow much at all tomorrow. Don’t think I can stomach hearing any nonsense after what BNE delivered this week. X

I mean if she's qualified to say it was a conspiracy gang of 4, and raw sewage flowing through the taps, and to comment on the competence of Sophie Ellis and the doctors/nurses dealing with stomas and chest drains - she's qualified to comment on staffing pressures. The judge wouldn't have allowed BNE to ask LL such questions if he thought she couldn't answer them to the best of her knowledge! And BM know this.
