The defence will know about these notes so will be interesting to see how the explain these. Will they argue she was referring to something else? Try to claim they were planted? I’m on the fence and trying hard to keep an open mind throughout but this is pretty damming
Devils advocate for a moment…’because I’m not good enough’ …if hospital negligence is the cause, she could have felt gaslighted into thinking it was all her fault? I don’t really think this is the case I think she’s a murderer of the highest horrific order but that was my first thought about the ‘not good enough’ bit

I know it's being used as evidence in court, and there's a possibility it will be in the public domain in the future.
But given the trial is still very much in it's early days, should this be posted on here?
It was posted by Judith Moritz on twitter. I’m not sharing anything that’s not out in the public if reporters are sharing it..

It’s been said a lot on this thread to those leaning guilty “hope you’re never on a jury” blah blah
Just saying that if anyone accused of my murder is found to have a note saying I did it I’m evil I killed her on purpose… I really hope everybody explaining it away aren’t on the jury 🤣 right back at you guys 🤣
Just to say, many years ago I used to work with women who had suffered domestic abuse and one was eventually arrested for attacking her (male) husband. Nothing happened as was a clear case of self defence but she would say, on repeat "I'm a disgusting person, I'm evil, I wanted to hurt him". On repeat. She was mentally destroyed.

Context is everything.

I haven't come to any conclusion on this case yet because I haven't heard all the evidence. But that note on its own? It isn't proof. Certainly not proof enough to convict imo.

I said I'd stay on the fence, that note she wrote has just sealed it. Guilty. You do not write that you are evil and done it if u are innocent. Wow.

Something I’m interested in her texts etc. She seems to frequently message people about work, and obviously the prosecution have brought up the more incriminating ones.

In the interest of balance I’d be interested in the conversations surrounding. It’s a neonatal unit so there likely, though usually very infrequent, is always a chance of one of those babies sadly dying. I imagine if you’ve been there long enough most nurses will have been on a shift where a baby dies, whether it is your patient or someone else’s.

Any human would take that home with them. I imagine if you are on a shift where a baby dies it is unusual enough and traumatic enough for you message your colleagues for support, to chat etc, to let of steam, to cry whatever.

I wonder if there’s ever a point in Lucy’s messages where she expresses how frequent it has been, how it is getting to her. Not to go Neville Longbottom on the situation or to be flippant but if somehow this is pure bad luck there would be an element of “Why is it always me?” Like I would be emotional and upset that I was on every single shift where something happened and be at the point of wanting to pack the whole lot in. I wonder if she ever expressed anything along those lines? IF there’s any way she could be innocent I would be in pieces if this kept happening and would probably quit my job because I would have found it very hard to deal with emotionally.

I would find it very strange in fact if she had never expressed disbelief or self doubt or an intention to quit because it was all getting too much.

The defence is giving a lot of the other background that the prosecution never gave. Being very factual and removing all emotion from it. Perhaps this is where the defence lawyer will shine

Just caught up on the thread HOW are people still thinking that she is innocent after todays events. She is an evil bitch and anyone trying to make excuses for her should be ashamed of themselves.
Nice objective stance there, thanks for your input!

I feel like the note has overlooked the fact she took pictures of two dead babies. A picture, on her phone.

I know what I’m thinking today- the defence prosecution opening hasn’t made me doubt much. I remain open minded though.

I think some people are desperately wanting there to be a not guilty, as the thought of her actually committing these murders is understandably terrifying. However, my full thoughts are with all the families, god knows how they will get through this.
Nobody’s said she took a photo of dead babies on her phone.

It was said she took pictures of the two deceased siblings together. There was no context. This could have been a reasonable request from parents.

Yep completely agree, but there was also protesting of her innocence in those notes,

to believe one note we have to forsake the others.

Which is fine because one of them is obviously a lie, both can't be true because of the nature of the evidence (the poisoning)

I don't know what the next 6 months will cover or what part will swing me guilty or innocent, I just want to hear the full evidence from both sides first.
If you’re innocent, I can see why you’d write I’m innocent.
If you’re guilty, I can see why you’d write I’m innocent.
If you’re guilty I can see why you would write that you’re guilty (confession).
If you’re innocent I cannot see why you’d write that you’re guilty.
Just my opinion. Also I am looking at those notes in the context of every single thing I’ve heard so far. I am of course interested in hearing the full evidence.

I know this will be unpopular but if I was a nurse I wouldn't mind cameras in those rooms.

Also there's been cases where sicko parents tamper with equipment etc too. Surely the lives of the babies should be more important than privacy of staff.
What's the invasion of privacy anyway when they're just doing their job.
Lots of people have jobs where there is CCTV.
We are recorded everyday in the streets and the shops so why not icu. Is street crime and shop lifting more important than sick babies.
Apologies, this is an emotional post rather than a rational one . I can't even think straight anymore when it comes to this case.

She's a cold blooded, pre meditated killer. Even if there were shortfalls by the hospital, she was the one who did it. All killings and murders of people are awful but to do it to little defenceless babies is abhorrent and another level of evilness

Within a trial the pendulum generally swings both ways and the jury often go from being convinced someone is guilty, to convinced they are not guilty, and then possibly back again. That is the whole purpose of a trial, so that all of the evidence can be heard, and so that people can hear all the evidence. Ultimately it is those 12 jurors who will be making the decision. I don’t envy them at all, listening to that evidence day in, day out will be heartbreaking.

There’s a part of my mind that I’ve allowed to wander…..

I’m now wondering how absolutely awful it would be if she was innocent and to one day have her entire life pulled from under her. I’m sure it’s happened to people in the past.
But how do you even begin to cope with that.

i’m not sure if there’s a name for it but I have an irrational fear of prisons. I can’t watch anything on tv/movies that show people incarcerated. Same goes with airports and the fear of something being found in your case rhay you didn’t put there

just to clarify I have no thought of her being guilty or innocent at this point

I think it's important to remember as well that people under extreme stress do make false confessions. I don't know much about the psychology of that and whether it'd only likely to happen in a setting where an intense ongoing interview is taking place and people are pressurising someone or whether it can happen when people have been beaten down through ongoing police investigations and it has an impact on their mental state.

However I still believe from what we have heard so far that she appears to be responsible, although I am trying to keep an open mind at this stage.

"It is a theory built 'firmly' on coincidence."

This is a fucking ballsy and bold statement to make after what the prosecution ended with.
I think he's right though as we are yet to see what medical evidence they have.

I feel the confession & post it notes could be written in anguish. We can all be hard on ourselves & be guilty of self blame. While I'm not murdering or attempting to murder innocent babies I do suffer with my mental health & know what it's like to be a perfectionist & put myself under huge pressures which often attributes to not feeling 'good enough' & catastrophizing situations. If the prosecution present appropriate medical evidence to support their findings then obviously it presents those notes in a much different light.

They are just my thoughts, I'm still keeping an open mind given there is 6 months to go.

Her house sold for £201k in December 2019. Maybe that's how she's funded her barrister? Also has what appears to be a babys bedroom.
