No but he's just said on the record in court that he was concerned enough to go and check on her because he had realised the pattern of babies dying in her care, to then find her standing at the cot and the baby then crashing. So what did he/the hospital do about it after that?
the doctor is now a tv personality, i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s exaggerating facts for his own gain / make himself look like he was onto her. like you said, if it was true he would’ve surely raised it. that hospital seems like it was neglectful on so many levels, probably the reason LL got away with it for so long.

The thing that's so awful about this case is that either she's been falsely accused of the most horrific crimes imaginable, or she's committed the most horrific crimes imaginable.

I don’t but into the scapegoat theory as it would mean 3 independent organisations (NHS, police & CPS) colluding together.
would the NHS want to scapegoat her if there had deaths that they hadn’t acted on? Maybe. But I don’t believe that would hold up under scrutiny from the police & then CPS.
Just from what we’ve heard I believe it’s sufficient evidence to bring the case to court for a jury to decide. No conspiracy or scapegoat necessary.
One thing about professionals. They are birds of a feather and they flock together. They can and do single people out for terrible things, of this magnitude? Maybe not? Would I put it past them fully? No.

my comments weren’t aimed at you but good for you for calling every case you have ever worked on the first day 🙄

for the record, people like me who may be trying a case in any given court in the country encounter people like you who have no legal expertise whatsoever but work the court every day. We don’t like you. We are polite, we smile but no one likes a know it all 🙁
You quoted them though …

You also don’t need to belittle this person to make your point.

Can we please stop talking about her being a white woman. It’s irrelevant and mentioning her skin colour is making me feel uncomfortable.

They'd find that through medical records surely? Wild theories aren't going to do anyone any good I don't think.
You’ve got a real issue with my opinions on the two posts you’ve just quoted of mine. As I stated in that it is my opinion you don’t have to like it or agree with it. She was a nurse it’s well known nurses don’t always seek treatment for things they can help themselves with its everyday things for them they know what to look out for illness wise/blood loss wise. If she had fallen pregnant is very easy to keep that a secret. We do not know her mental state. Incase you didn’t know, not everyone goes to doctors for everything. Not everything is documented and if she isn’t mentally well then that makes perfect sense.

An x-ray at 5.39pm revealed a "massive amount of gas in her stomach and bowels" and her lungs appeared "squashed" and "of small volume".

The prosecution say air had been injected into the NGT to give a 'splinted diaphragm'.

When these findings were discovered did they not think a large amount of gas was strange? What would they originally have put this down to? Surely they would have immediately questioned Lucy Letby’s practice even to account for a potential mistake? There seems to be so many red flags for the hospital that something was amiss and it was ignored time and time again.

I Think it’s not an either or. Both the hospital was massively negligent and she is also a murderer. She should never have been allowed to continue as she did. How did the hospital let this happen? I think she exploited the weaknesses in the hospital

The poll is very interesting and very telling. By rights it should read: Innocent 100%, because innocent until proven guilty right?
However it sits at 2.6%.
The prosecution is laying out their case, they havent proved anything yet. Thats still to come.
Proves bias is a real thing, conscious or unconscious, it's fundamental human nature. I know we were all answering a question put to us, but did we critically think when answering.
I just find it interesting. Sorry!
I know the unsure percentage is very high. I wonder how this poll will change as the trial goes on. I'm NOT criticising , but I thought I'd share my observations that's all folks!!!
Just an observation.

I haven’t made my mind up about the nurse herself until hearing from the defence but in regards to the hospital (speaking as a HCP) absolutely shocking that this all came out 3/4 years ago and they have done nothing to improve care

CQC visited back spring 2022 and reported them as stillbeing inadequate for maternity services. Findings below

• We rated safe and well led as inadequate, effective and responsive as requires improvement and caring as good.
• The service did not have enough staff to care for women and keep them safe. Staff did not always have training in key skills and did not manage safety well. Staff did not consistently assess risks to women to keep them safe. The service did not manage safety incidents well or learnt lessons from them. Shift changes and handovers did not include all necessary key information to keep women and babies safe.
• The design of the environment did not always follow current national guidance or provide environments for the delivery of safe and timely care.
• The service did not have enough suitable equipment to help them to safely care for women and babies.
• The service did not have robust system is in place to assess, monitor and mitigate the risks relating to the health, safety and welfare of service users.
• Patient records were not always complete and contemporaneous.
• Not all premises used by the service were safe to use for their intended purpose nor used in a consistently safe way.
• Not all equipment was appropriately located for the purpose for which it was used.
• Managers did not consistently monitor the effectiveness of the service or make sure staff were competent. Staff did not always provide good care and treatment.
• The service did not consistently plan care to meet the needs of local people or take account of women’s individual needs. People could not always access the service when they needed it and the service was not auditing how long women were waiting to be seen or treated.
• Leaders did not run services well, use reliable information systems or consistently support staff to develop their skills. Staff were unaware of the service’s vision and values. Not all staff felt respected, supported and valued.
• The service had not fully implemented all national recommendations aimed at keeping women and babies safe.
• The service did not engage well with women and the community to plan and manage services. Not all staff were committed to improving services continually.
• Staff told us they reported all incidents and we noted that the service had processes and procedure in place.

I bet they (docs and other staff) do feel absolutely terrible now tbh, it is almost too horrendous to believe that one of the nurses was on a killing spree.

I don’t understand the fertility or boyfriend questions either. She is only 32 now.. Why is her not having kids or a boyfriend when she was 25 a big deal and a red flag?

Oh yeah I suspect someone's harming little tiny babies - meh not one for the notes.
Unfortunately you can't exactly write that down but what you do do is raise your suspicions to higher management which does kind of appear to have happened considering it was the consultants who are the ones who identified her as the constant.

I find it somewhat damning that when the babies are crashing she seems to be pretty complacent about getting help. If you think a child is rapidly deteriorating you get help quick.

Child K, finally a Dr is noticing a link with Lucy and the unexplained events/deaths.
I feel for this Dr and collegues who in retrsopect I bet wish they had done more to raise concerns.
but i suspect they really didn’t want to imagine a work colleague caring for the most sick babies would be capable of such evil deeds if in fact she’s found guilty.
I fully do not understand this!! It's like they're all sitting there going oh yes it was definitely her - but what was everyone else doing?!?

What the law says and what actually happens are often very different things. With one baby I think baby I they are saying they are not even sure if LL or another nurse was with the baby while her designated nurse went off for a break?
im talking about the police search of the garden.

getting a search warrant and putting the resources into place for that - isn’t easy. The police force responsible would need to justify their decisions to an impartial judge. There’s an extensive paper trail. They’d have had to demonstrate their justification before it could get approved.

then LL’s defence team would have access to all these documents and they will most definitely have gone through them, because if anything on the application process is weak - it makes all subsequent evidence as a result of said search, inadmissible.

there’s no real way they’d do it for show, there are simply too many barriers in place for that to be able to get through and it doesn’t really gain much for them - the judge will instruct jurors to disregard any media they’ve been exposed to.

the police will have had solid and robust justification for searching the garden and drains.

As opposed to Beverly Allit, it seems sometimes she wasn’t setting the alarm the baby was deteriorating. So was she watching the baby die and making sure they had no chance of surviving before notifying doctors and other staff that the baby was in distress and deteriorating?

It’s not that wild, I thought similar. She could have had a loss, or found out she couldn’t have children - anything along those lines could have affected her mental state.

ETA: If she did do it, that is!
Thank you!!!!! Pleased it’s not just me who thought that! Who’d of thought we could have wild opinions on a gossip site ay!!
