I think if we are to believe LL did reflections for work - there would have been evidence of this at her work or home surely, in terms of documentation she shared with her manager or a colleague or in her desk? They showed evidence she'd cleared all her competency exams first time so did have access to all her performance related documents/assessments.

Unless I see BM produce evidence of her having done reflections for work, I can't believe it. Most importantly, LL was on the stand today and had the option to say that she wrote those names/dates in her diary as part of the reflection process she was doing. I can only work with the information BM and LL provide, not make up excuses for her.

Instead she's said. "Asked why the name of a particular baby is featured on one of the days in the diary, Letby replies: "Something has stood out for that baby...it was for my own reflection."

But reflection isn't just a nursing related performance term, it can mean she just quietly reflected on it for any reason (including the murder). The layperson on the jury can't insinuate that Reflection means how other nurses would do it, and LL hasn't given any indication yet it was for work.

She's home now and turning into a right little pudding!!
The relief to get her home has been unreal, when your in it it's hard to comprehend the stress of it all, it's only when it's over and all is well again you realise you can breath again!

It certainly is...I was so so strong after the birth of my boy and all through his diagnosis and treatment...I got myself into a great routine at the hospital and then when we came home I had a little moment of 'WTF just happened?' I remember it was difficult to adjust for the first few days but it all soon fits into place. Like you say the relief is just massive.

I am so pleased she home and flourishing

I think it’s a big point.
I wonder if any senior nursing staff suggested to her that it might have been a good idea for her to do a reflection on some of these events? Did they pick up that there might be issues with her or were they scratching their heads about these events and attributing them to something medical? Some seemed to have their doubts about her.
Obviously if you’re completely a datex. or a similar incident form, you’re detailing a lot of information about the incident, which you know will be seen by others and you might be questioned on, so will want to be as accurate and inclusive as possible, which goes some way towards reflecting on it. Doesn’t seem that any of these forms were written. So she couldn’t scrutinise things that way either.
I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily do my own personal reflection at home, but I’d certainly scrutinise it in some way.

Around the middle of the case, we don’t get the full story but she brings up that other people had been questioning her ability. She texts JJK to ag them all off. This is when she’s harming so many at once it’s thought there’s a strange virus. She gets a complimentary text from Yvonne G who said she had handled a collapse situation well (think it might have been one of her repeated attacks on I maybe even their death?) and she thanks her and says it means a lot and she assumes Yvonne has heard the uncomplimentary things being said about her ability. She also is moved to days and I’m sure in interview or today she says this was “for more support” but it “didn’t work” presumably cos babies on her shift kept collapsing and dying?

For revalidation you prepare a file with your evidence that you meet the requirements to continue on the register (practice hours, study you have completed, reflective accounts, witness statements). She would absolutely have kept this because it’s hard work to put together and it’s also useful for when you next do it.

If I was prosecution I would be taking her through each one, asking

‘what stood out for you for this baby’

"Letby says, to remember what had happened through the course of a shift for a baby, her retrospective notes to be documented would be compiled from a mixture of documentation at the time and notes she had written on the back of her handover sheet."

So she was using the handover notes to complete medical notes she write retrospectively!! To me, THAT is a reason to keep those notes. Because she could remember WHAT was in the medical notes by referring to the handover notes she had right. So she must have always known there'd come a time where her cases might be reviewed and she kept all the handover notes to refresh her memory.

That looks like sabotage to me. If she was using handover notes to write up medical notes - keeping handover notes would be like keeping medical notes.

Just eating lunch, sat opposite my 6 year old… a 2016 baby, so not much younger than the babies in this case. Makes me think of those parents, and how they should have been able to bring their babies home… And that they should be at home today with their 6/7/8year olds due to their teacher’s striking, not sat in that courtroom

I can totally relate we had our IVF baby at the Countess in April 2016 and she spent the first week in and out of NICU and I just think holy tit if we had happened to have twins via the IVF we could have easily been a target of hers. Our little girl just turned 7 over a week ago and I have been thinking about all of those parents who should’ve celebrated their baby’s birthdays around the same time too. It’s sickening and heartbreaking. She’s getting extra hugs tonight.

Yes that's him. He's 11 now and you wouldn't believe he was ever 4lb6 with a holey heart and all his other problems. They're so resilient and stronger than we ever give them credit for

I’ve been so angry today (pregnancy hormones and giving my 2yo lots of cuddles realising how lucky we are to have her). Reading through what she’s said on the stand and how her empty words juxtapose with her actions. Horrible, horrible woman. Hope she is sent down for a long time and feels one iota of the anguish those poor babies and parents have felt every day since her wicked hands got near them.

My handovers , as I imagine all nurses do, have so many notes on. When you are given the verbal handover from the shift you are taking over you make notes , throughout the day you add things and jot things down.

I never actually thought about this but yes, they would contain a lot of info. She sounds more suspicous now to me and it's her defences first day
